Unfortunately, that won’t be happening. Both engines need a new boiler along several other sections of work, and at this time it’s not likely these will happen.
@@MrNJT don’t you mean new boiler certificates?? New boiler would only be required if the boiler was NOT approved by state inspectors. Lady Edith most definitely a new boiler. Not sure about 26 and the shay. Might need new fire boxes
@@nicholasmedovich8691 The state disapproved Lady Edith because of the copper firebox and her brakes. The boiler is all well, just the firebox and the brakes would need to be changed. As for the shay it needs a new boiler, as it's pretty thin/ 26 I believe is in the same situation. I can't recall all the details but as far as I'm aware 26 needs a new boiler and so does the shay.
@@MrNJT were they actually ultrasounded?? That’s my ultimate question. You cant replace the boiler in every restoration, but if the state inspectors didn’t approve, or if everywhere in the vessel was actually thinned beyond minimal requirements i totally understand
@4:35 Now there's something you don't see everyday, an American engine double heading with an Irish engine!
nice shots i work at the railroad in real life. really miss when they all ran back then.
Thank you for sharing this!
I think my uncle ran 26 and the shay at one time
Love seeing the 26 and the shay get restored soon
In 2001, I was three years old when I first developed my love of steam trains. The 26 was the first engine I ever rode on. I miss her dearly.

3 chime? Wow! Thanks, I’ve wondered for years
@@jamesszumowski6637 usually 26 wore a CN or a unknown steptop 5 chime
