- I'm not the best singer or anything, but an attempt was made!
I first learned about the Nier series from a friend some time ago. I played Replicant after playing Automata, and it swiftly overtook Automata as my favorite story-telling game. Both games offer excellent music and distinctive vocals that are performed in a fabricated tongue known as "Chaos Language." I thus made the decision to make English lyrics for my favorite track from Replicant just for fun.
The song is intended to be vague as to not spoil the plot of the game.

The part “the shells even thought they rebel ,they belong rightfully to us for we are their true selves kept in the dark forced to part for one thousand years, alone,known on his throne as the shadow lord ” hits extremely hard after you learn what the shades are in realty and who is the so called “shadow lord” and why he looks like the protagonist
This is literally the main theme of NieR

I usually dislike the "English covers" of many Nier songs originally in the chaos language, as I find much of the beauty lies in their vague interpretability due to them being untranslatable, and beauty not needing to be understood to be appreciated, but I can also appreciate the amount of work you put into this. The writing of it acts as a nice narrative foil to Ashes of Dreams, acting like 2 sides of the same coin of grief. This is more angry and self-righteous, patriotic even, whilst Ashes of Dreams favors more the perspective of acceptance, despite the accompanying grief and reminiscence.
Love the lyrics, especially during the initial build up of the song.

this is seriously awesome and underrated to be honest, come back to this to listen to it as much as the original even if the singing isnt perfect becuase the lyrics are just really cool
It's amazing, if you could re-do the high pitched voices with the help of a female singer or some kids choir I'm sure the result would be jaw-dropping

@@broski4u214 There is no official translation. Whatever they used as a base, it's 100% wrong and the translation is 100% made up.
Emi Evans owns the rights to the chaos language she invented, and she has never released any lyrics anywhere, meaning that even the untranslated lyrics are 100% made up by someone who guessed how the words might be written based on how they sounded to them.
So, basically, it's a made up translation based on a made up understanding of made up lyrics of a made up language who only Emi Evans know anything about, so any lyrics you find online, translated or not, is 100% made up, always.
Also just read the description, "I thus made the decision to make English lyrics for my favorite track from Replicant just for fun."
