I like this pattern a lot because it is simple and still looks great. One of my concerns with any popper-type pattern is keeping the body from rotating on the hook shank. I would recommend first tying in two pieces of 50lb mono, one on either side of the hook shank to help stabilize the foam. Optionally, you can make one (or both) of those pieces of mono into a weed guard simply by tying in longer pieces and then tying the tag ends in at the hook eye as your final step before whipping off.
what are the materials that you use? and where can i find the? do you have any advice on how to masher the materials. And i am a beginner is this fly good for beginners? And i am trying to do more different fly patterns. is there any patterns that both small/large mouth bass will work?
he uses 2mm craft foam marabou feathers and super glue thread is mono. this fly is for anything that eats food from the surface. tie it small it becomes an insect big is frog its not that hard for a beginner. but if you want a real simple begginers fly for the same stuff look up how to tie a gurgler fly they are dead simple and work everywhere im from australia and i tie it small for estuary fish. medium like a size 1 hook for our bass and and then ill tie it big for our freshwater cod or pelagic fish

I tie most of them on a 1/0. You can go bigger or smaller depending on the size of you like.
