I like your video! I just bought a Westinghouse iGen2500 a couple weeks ago. The new ones come with the parallel ports. We tested it out on some rustic / off-grid camping, with our camper, last weekend. I was surprised that the Westinghouse was able to power our 25 foot travel trailer and the AC at the same time... it actually didn't go over 50% of it's capacity.
I've owned the Westinghouse 2500 for about six months and rotate usage with a Honda EU2200i at the cabin. Very pleased so far. Another smooth and thorough review Gavin!
Gavin, I couldn’t wait, Sam’s club had the igen2500 for $399.00 that was for me too good of a price to miss! In my book you are the one to watch on you tube!
On my Westinghouse 2500 does have a button on the right lower side of the meters, to toggle thru the data system. I have a parrell ports. You Must have an older 2500. I just received mine. Made in Vietnam, May 2021
You definitely are the best Generator reviewer out there. I subscribed! Also. Can you test some echo Generators ? I would like to know if they are outsourced. Thanks!
Bought the cummins onan p2500i a couple years ago for work. Right out of the box it wouldn't hold steady RPMs. It did ok under a load, but still not right. I probably put 30 hours on it or so then it sat around for a while, the warranty was up and I never got it fixed. The next time I went to use it, it started fine, but then gas started leaking out around the carb. It sat for a few months then I got it out to see where the gas was leaking from. This time it didn't leak. Maybe the float was stuck when it was leaking. Still idles rough, surges up and down.
@@GeneratorReviews I cleaned the fuel tank out and found a little sediment in there. Removed the carb and cleaned it. The bowl had a little varnishing going on in it. The pilot jet seemed like it might have been dirty. Cleaned everything and was feeling good about it. Started right up and it was running better. Then it started surging again and continued to get worse. It finally died, restarted it, ran rough and died. I'm going to let it cool and try another cold start just to see how it runs cold. Then I'll pull the carb again and clean it again. I'm thinking it might have plugged a jet again.
GOOD VIDEO GAVIN. I HAVE THE 2200 AND THE 4500 WESTINGHOUSE. I LOVE THE REMOTE START/STOP ON THE 4500. I AM HAVEING A LITTLE PROBLEM WITH MY 2200. AFTER SEVERAL EMAILS BACK AND FORTH WITH WESTINGHOUSE, THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND ME AN NEW CARBURETOR AND GASKET. THEY SAID THEY WOULD EMAIL ME A TRACKING NO. WHEN IT SHIPS. OVER A WEEK NOW AND NO EMAIL.
These are both identical units. Same exact generator. Westinghouse makes / manufacturers these and Cummins just puts their name on it and a different color plastic casing. My brother and I have (2) iGen2200's and (2) iGen2500's. Absolutely great units. Westinghouse also makes the bigger size 3700 / 4500 inverter "Cummins / Onan" version as well. The only difference in this bigger inverterbsize unit is that the Cummins only is offered in a gasoline version, and Westinghouse offers that same gas model as well as a dual fuel version.
Actually, neither are made by their respective brands.... They are both made by Ducar in China. Ducar builds them to Westinghouse's and Cummins' specs. So there will be a LOT of parts commonality between the 2 machines. It is this way with all of these companies. There are about 4 different major manufacturers in china... Ducar, Rato, Loncin, and Lifan. There are others besides these 4, but these seem to be the major higher quality companies. If you look, you will see that nearly 100% of the generators (and really, any small engine anymore that isn't a Briggs Vanguard) sold here in the US are made by one of these 4 companies... there are telltale signs to look for to see who actually built them. But as far as these small generators, Westinghouse and Cummins don't build any part of them... these two companies are nothing more than a pair of marketers operating under a brand name... they don't own an single factory at all that produces this kind of equipment.
For me the Onan is the winner based on it's features especially the parallel port. Also, the no tool access is another win. Wide open access. No plastic support piece in the way like the Westinghouse.
Learning things about these all the time. Was looking for a carb drain valve like Yamaha. Thought I saw a drain line snaking down on both, but no in-line shut-off. : ( You figured out same engines. Good job. Do you know who makes the engines? Chinese?
Hey Yep same engine Chinese built but they will definitely get the job done with the proper maintenance. They all have manual carb drain on them. Thanks for watching 👍🏾

Good morning, Gavin! Thank you very much for starting your series on the 2500w category; or, the upper end of the suitcase, 1 arm carriable segment! As always, you do a great job highlighting these units. Whooaaa....the Westinghouse is one of the models that I was considering, if I go in the direction of the suitcase/2500w category. I DID NOT catch that the Westinghouse did not have parallel ports. That is really strange, and pretty much a No Go threshold for me. The key reason I'd want the parallel capability is that we'd attempt to charge our solar capable rig with one of these easily transportable generators. But, being at the higher altitudes of Colorado, I would definitely want the capability to get a second one to parallel them, if we found that was necessary. Both of these options are nicely quiet! When they are at 51 or 52 db, that really is getting to just above ambient noise!! Ha....when this video started, and you gave the prices of both rigs, I was definitely preset in my mind that the Cummins was not worth the extra $200-250 extra charge; or double that for a parallel set up. But.....with no parallel capability for the Westinghouse, I would not be getting that one. Thank you again for this awesome comparison of these two rigs!!
I so wanted to like the Westinghouse. I wanted to parallel to for my travel trailer. First one broke in flawlessly and had 5 hours on it. The next two I tried sputtered and repeatedly shut down the moment I put even a small space heater on them during the third hour after two oil changes. The first one handled the same heater just fine. If I can't rely on them to run that without having two malfunction I need to try another brand.
Muchas gracias desde argentina, buenos aires, thank you for this reviews , I need to buy a generator , and in Argentina are so few options available, I need to buy from abroad
Can you check something for me? With the Honda having a 120cc and others being in the 80cc range I’m wondering if the Honda runs at a lower rpm under low load conditions, anyway you could check that theory?

My personal Generator I run it for 30 minutes then I’ll change the oil. _I am kind of surprised you haven't tested any Hyundais generators. I have put my Hyundai 2800 in all types of situations; it has performed flawlessly! My Firman lasted only a year before the motor let go with 856 hours, and the second Firman motor just lost compression after 1100 hours. The Westinghouse just let go with the carb cracking. Why? Not sure yet! It had 1276 hours of run time. They all get the same maintenance with new sparkplugs, filters foam/ fuel, oil, cleaning the spark arrester, and adjustments with the valves. The Westinghouse carburetor suffers from poor design concerning the location of the Idle Jet (in the back), It is almost impossible to clean if it had been left sitting for a while and is now surging. Similar ones like the Honda have the idle jet in the front where it is easy to access.
