When I first watched this I thought her jumping out of the car was a trauma response, like the last time she’d been in a car was when she was abducted and she felt she had to get away. But the real reason was so much more heartbreaking
@@moonygray she didn't feel like she connected with her mom anymore. Her memories form her time before she was kidnapped were mostly gone and she wanted to get out, she felt overwhelmed, so she jumped out of the car to feel free.
This is what people meant when they say that grief has ripple effects. Granted the mom got her daughter back, but the pain that the girl feels, being abducted, forgetting who she was, her mom felt pain too. Different pain, but still pain. I'm glad that they worked it out, and that the mom confessed that she was trying to make up for time lost
The mom was a victim as well, they did a good job, the trauma of losing a child would drive you insane... and just being imperfect in this way was really well done.
Its honestly a good thing. Cause this scene was a good example. Cause it helped expose something really dire. To get closer for both of them. The mom was trying her harderst, she may have gave her false memories, but after what both of them had been through. Even lying like that was killing her inside
I am very, very fortunate in that the psychiatrist who helps me manage my ADHD and Anxiety Disorder is this good. Ive had an absolutely terrible psychiatrist once, but the one who treats me regularly is absolutely lovely. I hope you find one this good someday too.

It’s called Method Acting - and it does come with risks. Heath Ledger absorbing his character as the Joker is one example. I’ve done it, and it can take a while to detach from a particularly emotional or impactful character, which is why you have to know what you’re doing and have good people around you. But I can’t answer your question as to the ladies’ name
I can actually remember a lot of childhood memories. I climbed a bridge in preschool, I remember going down this vertical slide as a little girl. There are also some memories I want to forget about but can't. My aide threatened me with the electric hand dryer in primary school once. (I have some sensory issues). But the fact this mum deceived her daughter and her memory baffles me.
I remember smacking my head on a vertical slide. Absolute crystal clarity. I know I've gone down them before without that happening so that's probably why.
I don't think she did it on purpose. Once she lost her daughter she wished she'd had the chance to have lived much more such happy moments with her and she most probably dwelled on those few memories she had so much that in her mind they multiplied to many more, just as she wished they had been. Grief can do that to people, you know.
She wasn't trying to deceive her-- She overblew them because she wished that they had done those things, and it's highly possible that as a coping mechanism after losing her daughter, she told herself that all of it was real because in the absence of her daughter she needed more happy memories to keep herself going. She was both aware that it wasn't real while also trying to make it real for both of them, but talking to Dr. Charles allowed her to grapple with it and realize that it wasn't helping either of them.
Some memories become more prominent with time, and also our minds can also blow aspects of memories out of proportion. Like, abertrary example, if you remember this winter where it was just snowing all through winter. But it turns out it was just a week. Because it felt like forever back then, your brain just supplied fake memories to make it true. That's putting it crudely by the way. That one time they made cinnomon rolls. That one Harry Potter book could have been blown out of proportion because that's all she was focusing on. Her brain supplemented memories because she wanted that to be true, so it became true. And after getting the suggestion of maybe that's not what happened, she got the perspective to realize the horrible truth she couldn't face.
Definitely wouldn't say she tried to deceive her. I think this is a coping mechanism, gaslighting yourself into making the time you had seem better than it actually was

That type of rub is very discomforting actually, and that discomfort is proof if the person is conscious or not. If you respond, you are there, if you don't you are unconscious. In reality the doctor will rub their knuckles hard on the sternum. Try it, it's not a good feeling haha.
