- Baby PIGS Born On The Farm. One of our Old Spot pigs had babies! We weren’t expecting these for several more weeks. She had 6 babies but only 4 lived. We lost one in the woods and couldn’t find it. These pigs are very good mothers. The babies will be feeder pigs for us here on the farm.

Dumbo is the cutest baby! Hopeful y'all will find the lost little one. It is so encouraging to watch how far you will go to take care of your animals. You and Rachel have such good hearts for your animals.

I'm not even 2 minutes into this video and I love you guys! Pastured pigs with a mud hole! That little pig got flattened because it was cold and crawled in beside her. You cut away from the little one who left the nest to go pee or poop away from the nest. Not even 24 hours old and not messing the bed! She may well have had more, they would be easy pickings for even a racoon. She seems a sensible sow and not too hot headed and a little food is going to keep her friendly.
I’m sorry about the little piggy 🐷 that passed away. I will be praying 🙏 for the other piggy that got lost. Thank you for showing us the videos even when things go wrong or don’t turn out how you want things to turn out. You could have easily kept that part of the video out and just let us see that you found mama pig 🐷 long after the fact that she had babies and we would not have known any thing that had gone wrong. I am really happy that you show us everything on your channel so that others can learn from you when things not only goes right but also when things don’t go as you plan so that hopefully others can learn from your errors or mistakes. I loved that one piggy with those big ears. I didn’t know that baby piggies were able to walk around as much as they did when they are just born. They were so active for just being born. So because of your video I learned something about baby piggies that I didn’t know. So sorry for the two losses. You got 4 adorable healthy piglets to raise so be thankful for that. Things just happen and we always try to find the logic in it, but often we never really get to find out why. I love your videos and enjoy them so much. Keep on keepin' on.

Nice maneuvering that tractor and shelter through the gate and around the tree! Those piglets are adorable, I love Dumbos ears! Thank you for showing real life farming, the joys and the agonies you show how real life is, not the Disney version of it. I feel so sorry for you both but especially for Rachel, she has the mommy heart and won’t give up…I know it’s hard on you too.
You and Rachel done great for not knowing her due date. Now from a fellow pig farmer who also raises pasture pigs. To ensure better birth rates you need farrowing pens. We keep pregnant sows in farrow pens with piglets at least 7-10 days. Our pens are similar to the feeding shed you built for the other smaller feeder pigs. We place boards around sides at least 6-8 inches out so sow can’t lay on them. After the piglets get all needed snips clips and vaccines at about 7-10 days they are released out into the pasture. Nothing wrong with providing a safe environment for your pigs when birthing. Still considered natural raised hogs. I’d also place some chicken wire a buffer on the page wire to keep everything safer. I’m not saying anything negative just some friendly advice because any loss hurts a farm in their budget.
I pray you find the lost baby. Again you done a great job for not knowing due date. But I’d also go ahead and convert that other shed into a birthing hut for other sow. It’s always better to be safe than sorry because don’t know her due date also. God bless you all and I’m praying for you and piggies.

I love watching your family and you and Dutch have inspired me to teach my 4 year old boy with autism and his 2 year old brother how to do a garden in the buckets, so they know that they can do a garden any where they live and I just want to say thank you for all the hard work and inspiration that you guys do every day. If you’ve lost only 1 piglet in 7 years, and that was due to a surprise early farrowing, you’re doing great. Don’t beat yourselves up.

When my uncle raised pigs he put up what he called a hot wire around his pig pens. He had bottle piglets too and my little brother who was about 2 or 3 years old at the time would take his pacifier and give it to the piglet he was feeding and take a drink out of the bottle and then give the piglet back the bottle. That night he could not find his pacifier and our Daddy told him that he gave it the the piglets and it was gone and he broke his self from his pacifier that.

kevin i used to raise hogs and I found the best way is put your sows in a separate place a week or so before she has pigs. be careful of them sows some are mean and will hurt you. if you have a mean sow fatten her after you wean the pigs and butcher her or sale here don't keep a mean sow. my sows was all gentle and we would many times in the cold months be in with her drying the pigs off and talk to all our sows. good luck to you all
We were expecting them to be 3 weeks away from farrowing.
Sometimes the mother will eat the weaker or if she senses something is wrong with the baby they will eat them. GOOD luck and GOD bless

I didn't know the babies wander away like that! Hope the baby comes back ok... maybe putting them all in a crate once found, and then set up the pen, might have saved you some heartache snd stress...babies arrive when they want, not when we say... best wishes for a happy outcome. I'm so sorry for your loss of that baby pig. I know after 4 hours it's highly unlikely you'll find it cuz a baby like that is easy pickings for the predators you named around your pasture and they are quick opportunists. At least ypu saved the other 4! And everyone makes mistakes, it's ok! You live and learn! At least now you have the other momma in a protected area and all her piglets will be confined and the ones already born will be safe! Still praying some kind of miracle happens though and that piglet turns up.
