@Edward89 my apologies my man, h.s. can be brutal for some, I would have retaliated against any of my teachers as well as guys that would talk 💩 to me, that tried to humiliate me as well, I was OBSESSED with writing on the bathroom mirrors 🪞 with the EXPO markers during a restroom break, I would've written horrendous things about teachers on the mirror for all to see. This was the 90s before there were any cameras anywhere and maybe 2 fatassed "hall monitors" waddling around. The laughing kids coming out of the bathrooms after reading the mirrors were priceless. Good times.
I liked the fact where Tommy had feelings for Carrie and from his heart, he mumbled, you suck to the teacher. That's what you call a pure angel in the class.
@@Joetheshow445 that's not true she was bullied by literally everyone throughout the movie. Tommy didn't even wanna take her to the prom, Sue originally begged him to. But once he got to know Carrie outside of just what everyone thought of her he grew to really like her.
Same here - was a victim of bullying myself - but no where near as severe - my thoughts are to say "those SOBs aren't worth breaking your sweet spirit."
Sissy Spacek was beautiful and pretty as Carrie. She still one of my celebrity crushes. She’s a great actress, making me feel bad and cry for Carrie thinking it was real life .
@The Burbles Sissy spaceak was perfect for the role. She didn't look 20 something. I rented Carrie back when I was 13 before I knew who Sissy spaceak was. I thought she was 16 or 17. Also who cares if she didn't look like Carrie did in the novel, she was way more convincing then that Chloe girl in the dreadful 2013 remake.
@@Thelma158 She really did. Even I also love 02' for being the first ''Carrie'' I watched as a kid, but Sissy was really more convincing - I watch those scenes when she was mistreated and abused by Margaret and I had never cried that much as I do in this version.
Interestingly enough, in King's novel, Tommy Ross was already a published poet and a good student, in addition to being such a good baseball player that an interview with the Red Sox general manager revealed he would have been recruited before he even got into college.
Fun fact - the teacher's mocking "I wouldn't expect this from you Tommy" was following on from a deleted scene where Sue wrote the poem for Tommy to use in class.
That makes zero sense, Tommy literally says to her at the prom that someone else wrote it. Maybe it was that way in an earlier draft of the script but not in the finished movie!
They really would. I remember seeing their dance scene and thought it was the most cute dance I've seen - I was happy to seeing Carrie so happy, enjoying the party ❤
The teacher was a jerk and Tommy did kind of stand up for Carrie she just said that the poem was beautiful and the teacher acted like a complete jerk making fun of a student's opinion on something 😠
If anything the teacher Mr. Fromm should have praised Carrie for even speaking up (probably the first time she did so in class that year and even then it seemed she was speaking to herself), and encouraged her to speak up more even though she was giving a compliment instead of criticism.
I also had someone else write poems for me when I was in high school. I hate poetry. By the way, a lot of people think the figure in the closet is a figure of Jesus, but actually it's a figure of Saint Sebastian (died c. 288 AD) an early Christian saint and martyr. He is commonly depicted in art and literature tied to a post or tree and shot with arrows. You can tell Carrie kills her mother with the same pattern but instead of arrows she uses knives. The knives really symbolize male phallic symbols because mothers death moaning sound more like she moans while having sex.
It felt like Tommy was ready to get mocked for his poem at first, and laughing along, but he was actually touched that someone actually liked it.
Thank you yes Tommy’s poem was nice it Was great that someone in the class liked the poem
@@kevinlikethevideooflynnfer9597 He said he didn't even write it.
Carrie secretly liked Tommy😂❤ love how Depalma focused the camera between Carrie and Tommy that was awesome.
It's bad enough when your peers embarrasses you but when the teacher joins in on the humiliation that's a new level of mental torture.
That's a psycho teacher. He needs a therapy. And: He should never teach again.

He didn't have a long career, but he's great in this scene. Great composition at 1:27. "You suck."
For some reason I’m obsessed with this scene. This movie is surprisingly subtle. They don’t make em like they used to, especially horror movies.
It’s more than enough to say it’s beautiful.
Think Tommy and Carrie would have made a great couple! ❤️

All Carrie did was make a nice complement! Just because she hardly says much! Teacher so ignorant!

Tommy did you say something Tommy?
I said oh shucks?
And then how the way his smile widens gets me everytime 😂😂

For those who didn't grow up in the '70s/'80s, the guy playing Tommy starred in the TV series "Greatest American Hero".
Yes that william katt. I loved that show.
He’s super cute
She writes so fast.
Carrie has pretty hair! It makes me think of Marcia Brady's hair (which was popular in that decade)!

How the hell is calling a poem “beautiful” funny and worth mocking?
