  • I don’t believe it matters whether you chant slow or fast; chant just once or hundreds of times; I believe as long as you chant faithfully and sincerely, that’s all that matters.I think it’s the intention which is important not the what or how. Nichiren said “The heart is what matters most” President Ikeda's guidance says you can chant to have 10,000 times more power in your prayer. So I usually dedicate some time to chanting to increase the power of my daimoku by 10,000 times!
    If I were helping a friend practice, then I would happily chant slow and few daimoku each day, just so they could engage with the practice - my own enlightenment can wait!
    The Mystic Law is beyond being reasoned with in this way. If you are sincere in your heart, then your practice is strong - faith is not measured in Daimokus Per Minute .When chanting truly becomes a limitless joy, then there is no restriction on speed or duration only the enjoyment of the chanting and the insight it brings.

      The secret of this is that it does'nt pray to a God or beg some one to do for us. We empower our self to be strong at the same time cleanes our heart of negative tought and behavior such as hates, jealous, etc. While this happend, our live change.
      Sorry for my english, it's not my language.

    If you have never been to a Nichiren Shoshu temple to even visit, you have no idea what the real power of a true Gohonzon looks like., because you have never seen it, touched it, felt it.. you can only get this experience by visiting a Nichiren Shoshu temple.
    Until then, the experience of Myoho Renge Kyo in SGI is just emotional, built on friendship and self-happiness, but nothing religious or ideally traditional to what orthodox Nichiren Buddhism has practiced for hundreds of years. Once you see a real authentic Gohonzon transcribed and owned by the Nichiren Shoshu temple, then you will realize the real difference. Only experience can prove this... no talk, no discussion can prove this---only real experience.

      It's very sad to hear you say that one gohonzon is better than the other...we all get benefits when we chant...actual proof that's what matters and believing that we all have a Buddha nature and can attain Buddhahood in this life time. I started practicing with the SGI since 1982 and I have been able to transform my life in unbelievable ways through obstacles and difficulties which are part of life. Whenever I faced them...I sit in front of my gohonzon and chant honestly and then go make action. I study to understand the gosho daily. By doing shakubuku which Nichiren mandated us to do, which is by the way the fastest way to eradicate karma and create good fortune. Nam Myoho Renge Kyo. Don't get me wrong, I believe in my own potential and that I am a buddhisatva and I will not go through anybody to become a Buddha...that's why I left xtianity and will not join any religion that says some ppl are better than or superior than others. Let's all chant for world peace which begins with us.

    • @diversityu1
      @diversityu1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Your point of view is a good example of the difference between the Shoshu and SGI understandings of Nichiren's teachings. One is that SGI teaches not to seek enlightenment outside oneself. One cannot experience anything special inside a temple that she or he is not capable of experiencing in front a personal Gohonzon or when chanting in front of a blank wall. That is what Buddha nature offers SGI practitioners. Otherwise, why not simply turn to a cross with Jesus nailed to it for salvation?

    • @lloydbaltazar1095
      @lloydbaltazar1095 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      diversityu1 I'm sorry that you feel that way but if you've never seen the Dai Gohonzon or seen a Joju Gohonzon inside a Nichiren Shoshu I suggest you keep what you minimally know about SGi Teachings which keep changing and inconsistent. I can see why the SGI Teachings suit your happy go lucky kumbaya spirituality but this is completely different than the genuine power of Real Gohonzons, especially the Dai Gohonzon revered by Hokkeko members. Again, so many of us already are from SGI. if you don't know temple Buddhism, don't pass your judgment until you EXPERIENCE the difference.

      My family was being required in the 1950s but we were Shintoist, Soka Gakkai said unless my parents burn our Shinto alter, we would go to Hell.
      When I became an adult in the 1960s and 1992, again I was asked to be a member.
      I rejected strongly. SGI was something wrong. So I studied Buddhism because it is not fair and right to criticize SGI without knowing what it is and baseless criticism is a slandering.
      After my experience, I am saying this based on what the Buddha taught.
      In short, if SGI claims that it is a Buddhism organization, SGI must follow the Buddha not Daisaku Ikeda doctrine.
