As a 5th, 6th,, 7th, and 8th generation Australian it's interesting to see a part of the American independence history and then as a side note it's strange to see the rooms that my cousin Samuel Adams Jr was in as the history was being made.
Yeah you had to un cork the powder horn tip in you powder, cork it grab a wad and ball and prize it into barrel then ram it down to seat it. Put your ram back under the barrel, cock your gun to prime position uncork your powder horn again prime it with powder, cock it to ready position, aim, fire. Rinse n repeat all while being fired at. Plus they didn't have the advantage of rubber but stock pad. It was iron plate on stock. Only padding was your clothing. And at the loads they would have been using due to the crude black powder (lots of impurities and inconsistent grain size) those things would pack one heck of a whallop. Ive shot modern gun powder with 100 grain charge and it litteraly kicked like a mule. (Kinda got in trouble with range master as it was at a boy scout camp and set up for .22 rounds. So 50 grains was more than enough to reach the berm. But it sure was fun lol.)
Those old patriots are rolling in their graves over what their legacy has been reduced to. I hate to say it but for most of my life I've said, "America may not be perfect but it's the best country on earth..." Not any more, I'm afraid. Happy 4th of July!
I agree that things aren't going the way I'd like them to, but I still think the USA is the greatest country on earth. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. (And I have lived in other countries!)
So glad cancel culture hasn’t come after all of our American history. We should be proud of our country and no one should be ashamed for this skin color or religion!
