    Did ankle fusion 5 months ago, back to work 2 months ago working as a welder walking on concrete floor minimum 14 000 steps a day.
    I am now pain free and don't even think about my foot 👍😀

    Wow thank you for sharing your story with all of us.😮 I fell from a second floor balcony. My entire foot came off. I now have chronic pain from inflammation, arthritis and cysts. My foot was reattached with an ex fix and I had 3 surgeries😢. I have 2 options now to relieve the bone on bone pain. 1 ankle fusion 2 ankle replacement. I did cortisone shots and physical therapy. They did not help. I am permanetly disabled now plus have a care taker. I have to use a Cane, Walking Rollator or knee scooter. After watching your video I am inspired to do Fusion. 🎉My doctor said my open wound fracture was so serious I am probably not a good candidate for ankle replacement eventhough that would give me the BEST results. I cant run at all, or stand for long periods of time. With this info you shared I am almost certain ankle fusion would help me.❤ Please continue to tell your journey. Im so proud of you for not giving up😇. You are an earth angel that is healing the entire world thru your story . Like you I suffered an accident on a mountain where I dislocated my right ankle. That was 5 years ago. Multiple surgeries later and I had my fusion just under a year ago and unlike you my recovery hasn’t been as good as I am in chronic pain daily. I cannot walk without the boot and I struggle to do anything including sitting at a desk.
    It is so good watching a success story and what you are able to do now post-op as that is always scary. Many a dark thought has gone through my head and even today I have sad moments and happy moments.
    I know everyone is different and I know I have the best surgeon looking after me and I can only hope to get even 20% of what you are able to do back. But your story is inspiring and will help drive me on once the next surgery is complete.

      I am 59 and my doctor told me I was too young for ankle replacement, as a replacement only lasts about 15 years, and you can’t do a second ankle replacement. After the ankle replacement fails, they would try and do a fusion, but it is much more difficult to do a fusion if you have already had ankle replacement. I am getting to the point where the pain is, causing me to move ahead with ankle fusion. Hesitant to go through the long recovery, but inspired by the results I’ve seen on videos people have posted who have gone through it.

    This video did more for my recovery than anything I could ever hope for. It’s like watching a Hollywood movie! • @PricoTu
      @PricoTu  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you Chris! Your kind words made me quite emotional.
      I don’t walkg as much on a daily basis, on average 6000 steps per day. I try to do 2 or 3 short walks every week, and also cycling and gym. Recently, the highest step count in a day was 14000.
      I didn’t have a chance to push my limits on a very long walk, as I normally walk with the family, we go slowly and my daughter always want to get back after a while 😅.
      I am sure you will be able to walk the distances you want, just start slowly and increase it gradually, and follow what your body tells you.

    First of all I want to thank you for every word you put on this video. Will do my tibio-tarsic artrodesis in 10 days. My background is just terrible, a simple ankle fracture evolved in osteomielitis and as result surgeries cutted away 12 cm of my tibia putting same quantity of cement to maintain the right distance. Everything should be fixed with a piece of bone from bones bank and a very big nail to screw everything. I just hope to have same determination and same results you got in this year. Al principio me centré en girar las piernas, recorrer algunos kilómetros y recuperar fuerzas. Sentí que pedalear era más fácil que caminar y un gran ejercicio de rehabilitación.
      Unas semanas después, con más fuerza y confianza fui aumentando paulatina y lentamente la dificultad del terreno.
      El dolor también disminuyó y finalmente desapareció.

      Olá Ricardo, posso usar qualquer calçado, mas prefiro usar tênis com um bom amortecimento e ainda melhor tênis com “rocker bottom”, desculpe não sei o termo em Português, tem uma curvatura e facilita muito o caminhar, foi muito bom especialmente no início.
      Desde a minha primeira cirurgia há muitos anos eu ando muito pouco descalço, mas alguns meses depois da fusão eu tenho andado um pouco mais descalço sem o grande desconforto que tinha antes. Eu não gosto muito de andar descalço, mas sem problemas pra ir ao banheiro ou andar em volta da piscina ou na praia, prefiro não abusar.

Do you think that’s normal and did you go through that? I’m just worried that I might have to have another surgery. I hope not thank you so much for the videos and responding you truly are a greathuman being I must’ve watched your videos 100 hours. It gave me a lot of hope. @PricoTu  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Mark, good to hear from you!
      Did your doctor confirmed that your ankle has fused? It seems so, as you are slowly increasing weight bearing.
      This pain is normal. I also had it. Take it easy and go slowly in this stage, also alternate easy walks and leg elevation for at least 20 minutes, several times per day. Compression socks can also help in this process.
      Are you having physiotherapy sessions? These professionals can make massages to relieve the pain and prescribe you drills and exercises to overcome this.
      Anyway, I believe this is part of the process to get used to have weight on the foot again. If you notice something more severe, contact your doctor.
      I wish you all the best in your recovery journey!

    hello, I want to ask you if you have problems with the total ankle fusion when you walk on uneven, bumpy ground, I have not yet the ankle fusion, I had a sprain with Fracture talus and calcaneus, I am recovering, I was operated on and my foot was debrided sinus tarsi and fixed with a talus and calcaneus screw in the tarsi sinus area and that screw limits my movement on rough terrain, seeing that you can move the ankle well from the navicular, I can at the moment just need a little more training to be able to move the ankle like you, how did you manage to be able to move the ankle through the other joints?

    • @PricoTu
      @PricoTu  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I had Tibio Talar fusion, during the first months after starting walking again I had some difficulty walking on uneven terrain, but it got better later on. Exercises and physiotherapy drills really helped.

    Do you happen to know the specific fusion you had done? I am looking at possible having a triple athrodesis this year and I am apprehensive about the loss of mobility and how it would affect my knee/hip on that side.

    • @PricoTu
      @PricoTu  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, as mentioned in the video I had a Tibiotalar.
      The triple fusion involves one more bone, so an additional complexity.
      I think of fusion to solve pain from the joint, it can decrease mobility slightly, but if you dedicate yourself, with physiotherapy and exercise you can recover some of it and live very well, respecting your body’s limits, most importantly without pain.

    Hi PricoTu Elson Mendes Filho, how are u ? i have a question, its possible training calf muscle after anklefusion, exercises like calf raises with some adaptation or using the tiptoe movement ?

    • @PricoTu
      @PricoTu  15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hello Davi, beleza!? Yes it is possible.
      Indeed I have heard many people complaining that it is much harder or almost impossible to grow the calves muscle after fusion. Surely it is harder, but with some adaptations I was able to recover this muscle and gain a few centimeters, it is still smaller than the good one, but it is ok.
      Typically, I do unilateral calf rises so I can focus on the activation of the individual fused leg and I bend the knee slightly when rising to increase the activation. I am also using a Standing Calf Raise Machine at the gym to add additional weight as I progress the load.
      I hope this would be helpful for you.
      And I wish you all the best in your journey!

    Hey, I was born with a club foot and the pain from some of the ankle bones being formed badly is now unbearable at 29 and the docs say fusion is the best option.
    Unlike an ankle replacement after a period of time does fusion “wear out” or cause more pain in any way longer term?

    • @PricoTu
      @PricoTu  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Matt, my doctor mentioned that replacement actually wear out according to the equipment lifespan, while fusion doesn’t, but in the long term it could increase the risk of arthritis on other joints of the foot, so I must be attentive to that and keep myself healthy and active to prevent that.

    • @PricoTu
      @PricoTu  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Mark. It’s normal, try to relax and enjoy these days with your loved ones before the surgery, some meditation and visualization techniques can help.
      My calf increased 4 cm since the surgery, and now it’s slightly bigger than before the procedure, but It’s still smaller than the other one.
      Honestly it’s quite hard to engage the calf with fused ankle. I found the best option for me is to use a standing calf raise machine in the gym, in unilateral way. So I can focus in the single leg and put adequate weight, it’s taking a lot of time and effort but it is getting better.
      I wish you a successful surgery, I will be cheering for you!

Then doctor detects that ankle tb.. 😂 now 9month tb treatment done but now mri hows ankle articular space loss and feeling pain severe ..doctor advise to fusion ankle surgery .
    But my ankle movement is good now only problem not able to weight bearing ..now i am not able to decide one of other doctor say me that cartilage auto repair by medicine...😂

      @PricoTu  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, I’m not a doctor, so I can only advise you to follow your doctor’s.
      I learned that cartilage regeneration can be achieved, but it not easy on ankle joints.
      If I were you and if you can cope with the pain for little longer, I’d try.
      And if you don’t achieve the expected outcome, you can still have the fusion later.

      Yes. It took me some time to regain the muscles, now no problem. Only small issue with certain angles of steps that my foot can’t achieve, then I have to bend the knee a little more. Rocker bottom shoes help a lot and for longer hikings I like to use walking sticks for extra support, specially going downhill.
