I think that's less of a flow state and more of Roundtree Jr losing steam. The shots started coming in slower, reflexes to shots were slower, etc. Endurance is what wins high level fights imo.
Khalil is a very tough fighter, but Alex is big, intelligent and powerful, he took his time and dismantled Khalil, it's a very intelligent fighter Alex
Khalil did an amazing job closing the distance with fast combos the first few rounds, but Alex adjusted and took him off his game with that jab, to which Khalil didn’t find an answer to.
Quem diria que o oitavo no ranking iria fazer um abalo desses. As vezes o sujeito só precisa de uma oportunidade. Saiu derrotado mas elevou o nome no UFC.
Alex should NEVER move down to MW. I truly think the weight cut zaps his chin cause Khalil hits very hard and Alex ate those shots 🤷♂️ Alex gotta go up to HW tbh he’d easily be top 5 😹
Heavyweight is a different ballgame and he doesnt seem to have any wrestling, with those massive guys on top of him, i doubt he will be great in HW, LHW is imo where he should stay
@@Make_it_Make_Centsonly really got ankalaev to fight and dnt think uncle Dana would let one of those dagies rag doll his new show pony, Gane and Pereira would be a mad fight or Pereira Volkov even. Maybe Adesanya might grow another titty and jump upto LHW😂
I respect Khalil for his heart cause the guy said "I'm a striker and I won't turn into a wrestler just because Alex is a great in striking" and he kept his promise. Not even Jon Jones would dare to trade with Alex Perreira, he would start looking for a takedown from the beginning cause it would be too risky to fight toe to toe with him. However, Rountree did, he paid the prize but he did it.
@@9Thunder5 You say that like he'd fight exactly the same if he had shorter arms. His style is built around his body, it's the natural thing for any fighter to do.
Alex made the adjustment in the 2nd rd and starting picking him apart, Khalil just semi-dropped him which won him the round. Rd 3 and on was all Alexsandro.
Khalil was in good shape for him to be able to take that shellacking. What surprised me is Alex's expert guage of distance. Roundtree consistently threaded the needle with his straight left through Pereira's guard but Poatan was always just out of range for it to land. That wasn't luck over and over and over again. He judged range masterfully and was even ready to return fire of his own immediately after.
Where Khalil screwed up was he didnt fight muay thai style. Should've been patient and utilized yhr opponent's momentum during striking, push pull. You don't go and fall for an opponent's push pull yourself smh. He threw too many blitzing punches.
Alex se concentrou pra no rd 4 bater mais forte que o khallil fez em toda luta, e sempre pressionando até quando ta perdendo e sentindo dor é cara fechada e concentração, grande luta qualquer round dela é melhor que as lutas do mulaev.
Dude got slowly taken apart, Alex is pretty much unbeatable on feet at the moment, and his footwork was spot on here so it is not like it would be easy to take him down for a grappler
Pereria's been too comfortable fighting these strikers in his last few fights. Once someone takes him to the ground, he's gonna be in all kinds of trouble. It's like when Belal fought Leon. Belal is known as a grappler, but he was comfortable striking with Leon because all his fights in the top 10 were against strikers. Matchmaking is good, but it can also backfire. A recent example of that is Omalley. UFC helped Omalley so much in his career. That when he was actually tested against Merab. He couldn't make the adjustments. He damn accepted getting takendown.
im really nervous for poatan with that awkward guard, it got too many holes and if he fights ankalaev, jonny boy and aspinall they will exploit it. i can see pereira get caught with a powerful straight left that'll rock him bad🫨
Makes me wonder about that kickboxer who schooled Alex when he was already very good, Levin I think his last name was. Jack Slack showed a bunch of it and he made Alex look kinda bad at fighting. Alex has evolved since then and would have a big advantage on the ground, but it sure makes me wonder about bringing Levin to mma. He did far better than Vakhitov against Alex, he's the guy to topple Alex, not Vakhitov.
but he dropped Alex tho in R2? Even it was not clean, not precise not on the nuckle..but dopped him..Never anyone in UFC beside Adesanya done that to Alex..thought?
He did well in the early rounds. Alex is one of the best strikers in the world. The vibe I got about Khalil from the fanbase was that he showed heart, which is true. He put Alex in danger a couple times, but Alex was in control most of fight. Maybe some people are saying Khalil got way closer than he did, I don't know, but that isn't what I have seen.
When Alex enters that flow state in R4 its just so beautiful to watch he put on a masterclass in striking
he looks like hes playing a videogame or something, unreal the level of flow and the animations , everything

in the early rounds alex was establishing his jab and his low kicks he was just accumulating damage for the later rounds.
@yoobro9579 exactly, the seeds were there, Khalil was just closing distance better than Alex thought for the first round especially
Putting on such a show with 4 weeks notice, with injuries and sickness is madness
This is an awesome way to watch fights
Poatan, 2024 fighter of the year, 3 fights 3 stoppages
Rountree should’ve ended his combinations with kicks like what he did with eryk anders or like what bruno silva successfully did with alex
He was probably anticipating a deadly counter when he does the kick. It only takes one.

Khalil was so sharp the first round man
You see that was a awesome fight when the highllights video (and a video without intro) has almost 4 minutes
Khalils endurance was absolutely outstanding. What a warrior 🙏🏼

Yes, someone, someday, somewhere, will beat him. So what? That happens with every fighter, unless he retires early. He's still a monster.
Jan took him down and couldn’t do much to him. And I’m sure Alex has improved lots since then.

Pireras offense and striking is top notch but his defense is a lil sus at times
Looking like it should have been stopped earlier from this perspective
I'm a big fan of Pereira, but he would be an easy fight for Jones. Unfortunately.
If they give this guy to Jon Jones he is going to eat him alive.
Anyone who stands with Perreira is going down, that includes jones.
