You guys are the best, the funniest, the smartest... And without Mick Harvey, The Birthday Party and the Bad Seeds would never have succeeded.I love you both. You have change my life.
I love this. Honest, respectful, good to see they have worked through the difficult times, really lovely conversation, stuff to read between the lines but good. Made me cry a bit.
Loved this so much!! Great to hear the contrasting personalities getting on with it. Love without nostalgia or pettiness, just respect and honesty. We could all do with a bit more of this right now.
So nice to hear this conversation between old friends, my son gave me this black box years ago as a Birthday present, one of my favorites. Love to Nick and Mick.
Great talk. Some comments: - It's great that they talk. Mick was so elemental to the Seeds. I miss him. - Come Into My Sleep is a gem and I love Mick's version a lot more. - How rude! I love Green Eyes! - Ghosteen is deffo more of a 'solo record' than The Boatman's Call. I don't get why people would say that to TBC anyway. Yes, Nick has the band much more constrained but there is not one solo track on the album. There are usually at least two players with Nick except Into My Arms where it's just Martin on bass. Ghosteen on the other hand feels like Nick & Warren alone. - Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! is a great album. It was deliberately Grinderman 1.5 in a way. So by all means I get Mick's opinion but I think even with him still in the band he would've had fun on or with Push the sky away and the different direction. - Please work together again! You had other former Seeds on the albums too so why not have Mick on it again? We need some great guitar playing. - We also definitely need the rest of the band again. I really like Warren's energy in the band but I think he should let the others be back in the front again too. Your music is great. I absolutely enjoy Mick's Love album.
I could have listened to these two having this conversation for hours. I always wondered why some more of the outtakes from The Boatman's Call didn't get on the B-Sides album; such as "I do dear, I do".
@@BlueGrenadeTom CD bootleg of studio outtakes titled 'Call Of The Caveman' aka 'The Alternate "Boatman's Call'' from 2002 .. or right here on TH-cam of course.
Really loved this conversation, Nick. It's great, that you're still friends and it's quite a remarkable idea. The idea of such compilation of everything like "The B-Sides & Rarities". I've enjoyed the first part a lot back in the days and the new one... It's just great, that you've brought back "Needle Boy", "Animal X"... All that tune from the "Push The Sky Away" sessions. They are really quite lovely. And the latter stuff is amazing too! Loved to see the ballad version of "Avalanche" now "officially" approved by you... And "First Skeleton Tree". It's just extraordinary. You should've put this one on the record, but maybe it felt too intimate for you in that period. Still happy though, you've overcome it (or learned how to cope with it, at least). I hope there will be another talk with Blixa! He is a wonderful guy and a wholesome songwritter. Love him and you! The question if there is a possibility you'll the talk with him... Why on the Earth did you choose Copenhagen for you 'Stranger than Kindness' Exhibition. I've visited it straight from Berlin and it was amazing! But why not Berlin? I thought you were one of us!!! Anyway love your work and everything. Take care.
Great conversation. Nick's remarks regarding the Bad Seeds in the last couple of minutes are a little ominous. I'm glad I got to see them live a couple of years ago.
That was gruff, heartfelt and tinged with love and violence. Basically a Mick era bad Seeds song. Wonderful stuff. Loved the admissions of which albums each had rated
They need to revisit Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! Maybe the emotions surrounding the making of that record has tainted it a bit in their memory but that's a great fucking record. Nearly every track on that one is good. It's more than worth revisiting.
Just got the double CD in the post. I somehow got a US amazon voucher after a zoom meeting raffle! And what better to get shipped to England than B- sides 2 :) Looking forward to a good listen! :)
Thanks for this conversation. A reminder of how The Bad Seeds started and evolved to the band as we know now. The things we like from all periods and directions the band have gone through. Mick is greatly missed. Can't imagine how would it be like if he was still in the band. Just a reminder, to please be kinder to Dig Lazarus Dig! album. Call Upon The Author is a gem
So Nick has been out of living in Australia 40 plus years and he still sounds like a person you would speak to at the local pub in Melbourne. And some celebrities can't leave for more than a week without spray with an U.K or U.S accent
Funny to hear them talk about bashing each other. I can't imaging bashing Mick but I can imagine him anoying me enough to wanna bash something. On the other hand I can absolutely imagine bashing Nick and he's a big fella. So if I have actually already done it, let me say I don't remember it. Honestly.
Harvey: "Seems you pushed me out of the band after 35 years" Cave : "Well, things happen, people come and go, its a mystery to me still, etc". Some nice psychological judo on the part of Cave there...:-)
I still think Green Eyes is an amazing short little piece to end The Boatmans' call. I just do not know what Cave means by 'his twinkling c*nt' in the lyrics.
I couldn't imagine reading my biography written by someone else. I already grind my teeth and would find it maddening. Thankfully I'm not important enough to find out.
Most of the todays singers are stupid. it's so sad. Artists like Nick Cave and Kate Bush, for example, do not exist anymore. Good to hear intelligent - funny - interesting talks.
Mick's the unsung hero of Bad Seeds. Really great to hear this & that they're still mates!
Him and Blixa
@@enricopallazzo8510 Blixa gets more recognition but Mick gave the songs the structures we love (i think) but is far more understated.

I'm getting quite emotional listening to Mick & Nick talk. This is wonderful. thanks
This is incredibly fun , lovely from both to do this xxxxxxx
Nick… listening to your voice is a whimsical and brilliant experience. So clever, so wise. Love you to pieces…
🥰 This was absolutely enjoyable, not one boring moment, and it made me laugh! 🖤
please sing together again. mick your vocals are missed. fan since 86
Love you, Mick♥️😘
A treat for Mick and Nick to share this conversation. For a rock icon Nick comes across as a regular Aussie bloke.
Personally Dig Lazarus Dig is one of my favourites ! Midnight Man , More News ... along with the first Grinderman , love the era hugely
Thanks for this lovely talk bringing smiles and laughs and interesting facts.

Thanks for the insight Nick & Mick loving your honesty xx

I think they are doing a
"part II " box.
The first box from years
ago is lovely.
Such a treat to hear these two together....I love the story of Mick hitting Nick across the head with a giant book!
Gosh, I miss both Blixa and Mick in Bad Seeds. Edit: This was great to listen to
Me too.
I have a
Warren Ellis

We all do
Don't be saddened that Nick dislikes Dig Lazarus Dig...just be glad he liked it enough to record and release it.
Very interesting conversation-thanks for sharing. By the way, even if Nick and Mick have issues with "Dig Lazarus Dig",it's still an awesome album!
This was a lot more then a q & a about an upcoming release. It's a terrific sketch of an almost 40 year old friendship.
Going on fifty soon actually.

I would say a couple of songs I am not a big fan of, but I like the album in general.
Terrible album :/ their worst ever.
I can’t say I agree! I think Noctrama is the one I really didn’t click with.
Why is the first B-Sides album not on TH-cam music? Grinderman Self Titled as well!
