The #NSWRFS has different types of fire trucks, each with a specific use. In this video, the members of the Narellan Brigade show us their Category 10 Pumper and some of the specialised equipment it carries.
So with the rural fire service we're technically not classed a rescue agency. So yes we can respond to motor vehicle accidents, structure fires and flood rescue to assist other emergency crews but we're not allowed to extract a victim form a vehicle unless they''re in immediate danger or potentially loss of life. Although if you are further out west in more rural towns, yes rfs crews and trucks do carry rescue equipment or have specifically designed trucks to carry such equipment. The only reason to why that is, is because FRNSW doesn't always have stations that far out west.
So with some brigades in the city yes they do have bush trucks like the light and heavy tanker, and then there are some that have pumpers. Reason to why is not all of our trucks are equiped or have enough room to hold the gear needed for urban operations so they have pumpers such as the one above to use. Basically the pumper solely exists to assist FRNSW with urban firefighting but also allow us volunteers to be able to effectively have the right tools for a job in one truck, rather then calling several different brigades and their trucks with the necessary gear.
That’s a cracker unit.
jaws of life?

I have no idea why the rfs have a pumper in sydney while surrounded by fire rescue stations,
Yeah @NSWRFS, why?
