When I started crocheting I never thought about making sweaters (I can't even sew, why would I want to make the fabric myself and stitch it all together?), but after trying it they became my favorite type of project. I've never worked with fingering yarn on a top before but am starting to because of the minimal bulk and beautiful drape. I'm very skin sensitive and need smooth and soft so I'm going to try your yarn. It looks heavenly.

To make the sleeves longer just attach the yarn back to the sleeve opening and continue crocheting in the round until the sleeve has your desired length. I hope this is helpful and makes sense. Have nice day! 💜
I need to use a DK weight yarn as I just cannot handle the fingerling. I need to know how to figure out how much yarn I would need and also for sizing. I did part of the swatch but it’s already 6” wide.
You can use DK weight, but you'll need to still match the gauge swatch for the size to be right. Continue dropping down needle sizes until your swatch with the DK weight matches the gauge listed in the pattern. In this scenario, the amount of DK yarn needed will be close to what's listed in the pattern for the fingering weight. If you don't want to drop a needle size or more, you'll have to choose a different size based on the difference between your swatch and the gauge swatch listed in the pattern. Because this would choice would require the entire pattern to be re-graded, unfortunately, we can't do that for you. Your best bet with this option is to purchase extra yarn, and then regularly measure progress to make sure the final piece if going to fit. I would personally try the first option.
