Yes racing the clock is not the best for the owner, I raced many horses for many years and I never received a training or drivers check that had the time on it. It only had what the horses owner made and my percentage.
And watch this guy struggle to control the big horse with the dam hand holds way to far back. He is grabbing for the buckles the whole way, look at his hands, I'm not saying the man isn't a good driver but come on, if that horse put in a bad step there is nothing he could do. Those hand holds shoulda been 6” further up, I don't know if he just doesn't want to extend his arms or what, that is no way to have full control of a horse. That horse was controlling himself, the driver was just there for the ride. You got the best aged pacer in the duece you have to give your horse a breather.
I wish I stayed in this buisness I took horses who couldn’t beat a fat man down the stretch to horses who won the next start I do but I was born with a gift with these horses! Guy says he pulls out is lazy I tend to prove em wrong! 1 time a trainer said have fun it wil be a ride along meaning he had no faith in his horse well I left that gate took 2nd hole pulled at half an never look back the owner was in awe I handed him the lines an said thanks for the advice 🤣🤣

Great footage- I guess it wasn't a great idea to go for a speed record with the 2nd best aged pacer in the 2 hole.
