Funny enough, I kinda get what he's trying to say about Lucina. Like, she's plain, she's bland, she's good, but she's missing just enough tools to keep the tension intact. If a Lucina ends up against a really good camper, the movement, spacing, and overall decision making she ends up needing to use to get in can be actually pretty lit to watch. Can't believe he really did my boy/girl Robin like that though.

I think Robin Def isn’t one of the most annoying characters to FIGHT (even in a similar archetype I’d say ROB or Samus are both more annoying at both zoning and out of shield), but in terms of commentating? As a person who runs production instead of playing, I agree with most of this list especially in terms of watching the characters who players consider toxic. Kazuya, Steve, and Snake have so much creativity available to them. I don't care how overwhelming it is to fight them because I'm laughing the whole way through.

I remember playing at a locals for the first time once a few years back. I went against this snake player who was pretty much one of the top players at the locals. Usually snake can only have two grenades but he played him so well, I thought he had like three or four grenades. So many explosions, I had no idea what was going on. Obviously I lost but I wasn't even sure I got a stock off him. I have to say though, going to the local made me feel like I really played my best. Oh yeah, I really wanna play doc to. I think Doctor Mario is more fun to play than regular Mario. Just sad that his recovery is so short. Im happy to see that most of the characters I enjoy playing are fun to watch in you opinion. I guess it means I am doing something right.
As a luigi(and recently exploring alts like pac) I think Luigi shoulda been “cool in top 16” Low level luigis all do the same stuff. Fair-zair, fish for 0-death, spam tornado. Strong luigis do hype stuff like convert to 60% off a stray not-throw hit. Setup interesting kill options. Get crazy reads & of course the misfire SD/instakill/saved from an inescapable off stage situation. Seeing a top player get coined is funny. Mix up how they approach bad matchups. At top level you can definitely tell the style difs between kiyarash, waka, guyguy, luugi & he who must not be named. It also heavily depends on the matchup tho. Watching some of Luigi’s just absolutely awful matchups. Sephiroth, ZSS, Rosalina, & Samus just bring down the whole mood. Watching Luigi beat the hell out of a DK is fun for 1 set but not a 3/5. Luigi & Steve are only characters I’ve heard a commentator go “wait, you can do that?”
I hope all the players who use characters coney hates commentating start feeling extra pressure when being commentated by coney and do worse now, thus causing results to decrease and him not having to commentate them
Bowser is 100% just stubborn. I'm against a Kazuya on my first stock at 240, he's on his second at 150, he hits me with an f smash and I just armor straight through at 240 against an f smash that kills 200% earlier. I killed him while armoring through.
Hot take (not really) : every character is great to watch if pushed to their limits. Take Kurama's run at Ludwig's invitational this week-end. Not that Mario is unpleasant to watch but I've never seen such gameplay from that character ever. He made the character look like the hypest char in the game. If a Pit or an Isabelle player ever make it to a major's top 3 beating multiple top 10 players, everyone would realise that you can create greatness with usually "unpleasant to watch" characters. And then there's Sonic
I think Steve would be cool to watch if half the match wasn’t him camping behind a wall mining resources. I understand that’s it’s necessary for the character to function, and you can’t fault players for playing optimally to try to win, but my god is it so not fun to watch

I remember playing at a locals for the first time once a few years back. I went against this snake player who was pretty much one of the top players at the locals. Usually snake can only have two grenades but he played him so well, I thought he had like three or four grenades. So many explosions, I had no idea what was going on. Obviously I lost but I wasn't even sure I got a stock off him. I have to say though, going to the local made me feel like I really played my best.
Oh yeah, I really wanna play doc to. I think Doctor Mario is more fun to play than regular Mario. Just sad that his recovery is so short.
Im happy to see that most of the characters I enjoy playing are fun to watch in you opinion. I guess it means I am doing something right.
Coney has refined taste and knows that certain characters like Pac-Man are actually cool as fuck to watch.
As a luigi(and recently exploring alts like pac) I think Luigi shoulda been “cool in top 16”
Low level luigis all do the same stuff. Fair-zair, fish for 0-death, spam tornado. Strong luigis do hype stuff like convert to 60% off a stray not-throw hit. Setup interesting kill options. Get crazy reads & of course the misfire SD/instakill/saved from an inescapable off stage situation. Seeing a top player get coined is funny. Mix up how they approach bad matchups. At top level you can definitely tell the style difs between kiyarash, waka, guyguy, luugi & he who must not be named.
It also heavily depends on the matchup tho. Watching some of Luigi’s just absolutely awful matchups. Sephiroth, ZSS, Rosalina, & Samus just bring down the whole mood. Watching Luigi beat the hell out of a DK is fun for 1 set but not a 3/5.
Luigi & Steve are only characters I’ve heard a commentator go “wait, you can do that?”
Just don’t get grabbed.

Bowser is 100% just stubborn. I'm against a Kazuya on my first stock at 240, he's on his second at 150, he hits me with an f smash and I just armor straight through at 240 against an f smash that kills 200% earlier. I killed him while armoring through.

Hot take (not really) : every character is great to watch if pushed to their limits. Take Kurama's run at Ludwig's invitational this week-end. Not that Mario is unpleasant to watch but I've never seen such gameplay from that character ever. He made the character look like the hypest char in the game. If a Pit or an Isabelle player ever make it to a major's top 3 beating multiple top 10 players, everyone would realise that you can create greatness with usually "unpleasant to watch" characters.
And then there's Sonic

I think Steve would be cool to watch if half the match wasn’t him camping behind a wall mining resources. I understand that’s it’s necessary for the character to function, and you can’t fault players for playing optimally to try to win, but my god is it so not fun to watch
If ivysaur was its own character it would be my favourite character in the whole game no joke, but I don't like the other two
