SpongeBob provided them with all of the information, maybe even gave them access to the Krusty Krab security tapes. In this case, since Mr. K was proven to be the real perpetrator... The police may have used the fact that SpongeBob was both forced into it, but most importantly, *he did not try to hide it.* I'm not sure how a court would handle his case, because he's by technical definition an accessory, buuut subjectively, it's very clear that he was a witness/psychological victim of Mr. Krabs. Also consider that this man BRUTALLY MURDERED THREE PEOPLE in one night, including two uniformed police officers. So the police and Squidward agreed to set up a sting at the Krusty Krab the next day, and it worked. [Murdered 3 people continued] A problem with this though is that this would mean the PD would have been notified of an ACTIVE SERIAL KILLER, so they would not have waited until the next day to ambush Eugene. The whole department, if not the National Guard would have just surrounded Krabs' house and either arrested him and taken him to the maximum security holdings, or more likely, he would have retaliated and just been gunned down by the Fuzz. So, in essence, I don't frickin' know, and it's almost past my bedtime.
