Rockhounding Utah! Dugway Geode Beds

We start our Rock and Road Trip and head up to Utah to the Dugway Geode beds! I found my fist big one 2 years ago and we were itching to go back!!

That was amazing... The reveal is just unbelievable. I can't imagine finding all of that.. I'm just starting and finding out rocks have things inside 😂
Those are absolutely awesome and amazing... Hopefully I'll get to find something like that someday. Is it volcanic bubbles that's filled over thousands of years? Just timeless

I just read your comment to Brian, and he’s dying.🤣🤣 yes, gas got trapped inside the rhyolite, then silica started to seep inside and do its magic. Then you have thundereggs!🤩

Omg. I love dugway geodes! I think I got some from Chris but definitely plan on getting a bunch to cut. That place is among my top want to go places out there along with the Yellowstone river. Hampton butte, glass butte, richardsons ranch, polkadot, god I wish I had the time and money.

So we never made it to dugway but we did find some amazing topaz at topaz mountain here are some not so good pics because my camera sucks I’ll see if I can post the pics

What did you use to cut them open?

We used a 10 inch hi-Tech Diamond Saw with the 10 inch thin sintered diamond blade.

How did you clean your geos?

With a textile water gun. It cleans a lot of the hard calcite off without having to use acid.
