- Today Sigma released a new lens, the 24mm ART F1.4 which competes against the Sony 24mm GM f1.4 lens at a fraction of the price. Is it any good?? Yes.

It's entirely possible this will make its way to my bag. I don't have a 24mm currently and this one seems like a no brainer. Thanks for taking time away from the family your efforts are greatly appreciated! Cheers.
It's great. At a great price!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis If I grab it I will be sure to use your link 🙂
@@PhotoGearFun I appreciate you thinking of me 👍👍
also someone before mentioned that with a 24mp camera you’ll notice less of a different. That sound about right? I’m glad you mentioned what camera you’re using for the test because sometimes people don’t and I imagine it makes a big difference.
The price difference is pretty wild! Didn’t even realize there was an updated 24 until today haha😬
Hi Tom Buck!! Stabilization seems a lot better with the sony 24 though
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Can stabilization drawbacks be fixed with a gimbal?
Got it. It's extremely sharp, great color and very well made. What I like best about it is what I paid for it ($699).
Sigma art 24 1.4 image quality Is wonderful. Thanks for your hard work
So great. At a great price.
No joke, I love my 2 Sigma lenses that you recommended last year!
When you don't joke - you know it's serious. Deadly serious.
I’m conflicted between Sigma 24 1.4 vs Sigma 24-70 2.8. The zoom lens seems way too heavy. I tried an experiment of putting Sony 50 1.8 FE on an APSC body, and it was so awesome cropped in. Still waiting on Sony A7IV.
I'm amazed about when prices are "invoked", the (art of the) second hand marked option is almost systematically silenced.
Really good review. Subscribed for sure. I’ve been wanting to get an f1.4 lens for a while, and considering the reasonable size and price, I might just go with this.
it’s a crazy good value.
Looks incredible! Don’t sleep on sigma! They’re incredible. I just wish they could get the rights to make RF glass
we’ll get a petition!!
Fb compensatiom is more usefull for dramatic focus pulling. And in that case one usually use huge lens and often those has less fb by themselves
FF lenses of course, might have been cool to specify that? Hope the Rock was a great time! Possibly headed there this fall myself 👍
haha - yes - I suppose I should write it in the title at least!!
How close can you get on the object? My iPhone 13 Pro lets me get VERY close without using macro lens. I do enjoy that. Even the 11 pro was this way. We’re talking the regular wide lens, not super wide or telephoto or anything
Andddd back on your channel. Okay so now instead of zv10e with Sigma 16 for $1k I’m considering A7C with Sigma 24 for $2,200.
Would this be a good lens for hands-on product review video? I like to get pretty close to the lens. Almost macro but not quite. I’m used to my iPhone 13 Pro 26mm equivalent with f1.5. Just looking for something with a bump in visual quality and above all - something that’s going to allow more of my product in focus. With that shallow depth of field, the iPhone seems to want to have the joystick of my controller in focus but have the buttons blurry. It’s awful because no one is going to be looking at it like that. That’s not how human eyes work that’s not how we look at products.
@4:45 The Sony is looking so much better, but it seems like it shouldn't. It's showing much more contrast on your face. Did lighting change? did it get graded differently? Or graded the same, but the image was darker to begin with. Just trying to understand why the contrast looks so much better on the Sony. Thank you for all your videos!
I’m wondering which of these two has best controlled CA, coma and astigmatism for astrophotography…?
Sigma colors and contrast looks nicer to me .Also the price is nicer😊
Just my opinion
Dude your videos are amazing
I appreciate that!
I can’t decide between the Sigma 23mm F1.4 (550 euros, not the one you reviewed here) or the Sony SEL24F28G (620 euros at the moment). I have Sony NEX-5N and I want to mimic a 35mm film perspective as closely as possible. Please help me.
Get the Sigma for sure. That f1.4 will make a huge difference. And it's also slightly closer to 35mm perspective.
it's kind of wild how much better the active stabilization was on the sony than the sigma. looks like sony lenses work with active steadyshot a lot better than 3rd options.
you should make a video on this, it is not common knowledge at all.
cheers!
I will look into it - it would be a good experiment
I have several Tamron and Sigma 3rd party lenses for my A7IV and I immediately noticed my Sony GM’s were miles better in terms of IBIS active steady shot. I didn’t realize the benefits of using 1st party lenses.
What a vlogging beast. You can blur the whole world and make your videos only about YOU! Great video but for me too much toneh!
for sure too much. Just using it at 1.4 because that’s where you’ll see the problems if there are any!!
How does sigma stand against Tammy? in not just this lens but all their comparative lens overall??
In other words which one is better sigma or Tammy ?
any of the latest generation Tamron or Sigma are of equal quality in my opinion - which is to say that they are phenomenal. Tamron and Sigma’s latest lenses compete with anything from Sony as well. Three great options to choose from right now. 👍
Great video. What camera did you shoot these tests on? Thanks
A7IV
Focus breathing mode might be a hidden secret for when you want a slight crop. No? Is that a thing that people want haha? Maybe
that’s true - if you want a little crop - focus breathing mode would be good 🤣
I have this lense it’s amazing!
Do I have to do a tutorial about how easelly and usefully a short strap of gaffer tape on a lens can be stored and ocasionally be useful..?
I think so - tutorial!!
Sigma is just amazing 🤩
Cheap good lens it seems!
A-ROLL🔥
Oh boy indeed:they look very good 👍
They really are
Hello sir
Which camera and lense will you suggest me as i am a new youtuber with 2k subscribers and making mostly studio videos in room
Plz reply
I would get the A7IV with the 24mm Sigma 1.4 Art if you are on a budget - the ZV-E10 nd the Sigma 16mm f1.4
Does Catalyst Browse work with both lenses or only with Sony lenses?
any autofocus lens
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you sir I managed to confuse myself about that 🤦🏻
Can i use with zv-e10
For sure - but I would recommend getting the Sigma 16mm f1.4 if you want that focal length on the ZV-E10
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis if i want shot for Land scape. Need wide angle, what lens good ?
good review
Thanks!!
The sigma looks so good!!
It really is
DOUBLE VIDEO RELEASE!
haha. yes - I finished at 3:30 am!!
Sony lens, in comparison, looks better to me
I think the Sony lens is a bit better overall. but I’m not sure if it’s almost double the price better.
Snagged an open box Sony 24mm GM from adorama for $1000. The lens was brand new in the box and came with the full Sony warranty! This is the second OB from adorama and I’m highly impressed. Get the Sony OB or used from a reputable company and your set!
nice find!!
Is this available in canada?
absolutely - shipping at the end of the month I believe. shrsl.com/3o2vb
You have 2 off them Sigma's? 11:01 :)
And I thought I was done....
We’re never done 🤣🤣
Lol ,same here
Sigma Art all the way, pay for GM aren't a smart move. Sigma is better or same photo quality than GM and cheaper. !
it’s a great lens for sure
unreal quality, WOW!
they are so good
Sigma 24mm 1.4 is worstest lens for astrophotography (astigmatism, coma etc), but sony 24mm GM is teh best lens on market for it. In bright daylight or studio leds every lens seems good and noone got no idea that from which such a price difference come from. :)))
Yeee vacation with small kids 😂 lol
😂 definitely not a real vacation
I watch you on an 82 in 4K tv, and let me tell you…your pores are magnificent.
I knew it!! 🤣
