  • Dave Gauld is the new AA/Altered record holder. The previous record was 38 years old. Dave is seen in here talking about the car, doing a start up performance at Kumeu and racing at Fram Autolite Dragway, Meremere.
Dave has broken his own record, it is now at 6.993s/190mph early in the 2015/2016 season.

The coolest thing I saw in the start up video, was the crew knew how to properly use the start up bottle, I am amazed at how many teams fail. Congratulations on the record. And with a smart crew I'm sure you'll have many more.

I used to crew for this car, awesome to see your vision for the car come to life with the nitro. Dave is one down to earth hardworking man with cast iron undies.

It would be a blast being near the start line when nitro cars take off, nothing comes close too them in the sensation when up in the stands. The rule is, double the distance and quarter the intensity. At 50m from the start line you can feel the nitro cars, it could only be better up close.
Dave is a very nice bloke and will always greet me by name when I see him at the drags or Kumeu.
Dave and his wild car feature several times on my channel. flic.kr/p/TkR8Gz a hairy burnout from last year.

anthony851 I helped out on a few races and 1 nostalgic meet and still remember the first time I started the car from cold before a race and Dave gave the signal for a couple of throttle taps while the car was up on axle stands, my eyes, nose and throat burnt from the methanol, ears were ringing and my heart was pounding but it was painfully awesome. I was privileged enough to be invited into Dave and Lynettes home and race team and got a good look at what to me were "real racers" no big sponsors, no flash trailers and tools, they got by and made do all for the love of it.

Great to NZ stills runs the AA/Fuel Altered class. It has been long deleted here in Australia. Interesting to know the car runs a steel block production derived engine, the other Nitro classes T/F, F/C & A/FD all run big block aluminium engines nowadays.

They are an exciting class with those short wheelbases and big power. More videos of this car on my channel.
