Such a beautiful and tragic story of love between soulmates that find themselves in the wrong time. Their ending is sad - but resonates with the famous poem by Lord Byron that says “Love will find its way through paths where wolves fear to prey”.
Their story end tragically. Alfred sacrifices himself for the love of Henry. To me the end signifies that their love is so strong that their paths would cross and one day they will meet and gets together somehow.
Attraction is a complicated topic. Men in general feel to be attracted to another man is a sign of weakness. I as an Asexual have found many men physically attractive, yet in 40 years I've only loved one. BTWay- I am 68 now and have lived alone for 30
Can a fu$king gay story end with a happy ending for once????! Like im sick and tired of this. Fairytale happily ever after can happen to straight couples in every situation but the gay ones have to be all tragic 🤬🤬🤬
@song7087 bless you for resonating my frustrative anger. I wholeheartedly agree with You on your every written word. Can't understand these damn gay movie scripts!
@@darkwordscape5 every bit of the life you both have now, the very freedom to watch this even, rests on the history of generations of gay men who lived loved as best they could in circumstances much like that depicted here. Like wars and those lost in wars we should never forget nor stop telling their story. Apart from that the relationship between these two in the series was simply the one that was the most real and powerful.
Understand and share your frustration and anger. But this was in the era when homosexuality was a crime. Even the hero who helped save Britain - and Europe - in WW2 with his ability to decipher German codes was imprisoned for being gay. The LGBTQ community continues the fight that stands on the shoulders of countless faceless men and women who make this modern life and love possible. Even in countries where homosexuality is not a crime, many suffer from homophobia - from their family, "friends", co-workers, haters. Many countries still criminalize homosexuality. For this era, Maurice is a beautiful film with a great ending. I know I miss out on many beautiful films/series because of their ending. My heart needs to escape, not to be reminded how hard life can be.

How did their story end? And what does the last their scene in ep.8 mean?
