I’m the trombone/baritone section leader at my high school so I’m learning both euphonium and trombone etudes and it’s fun listening to recordings they help a lot
@@RealTimeFun It would depend. Some etudes I could do in a day, some would take weeks. I can't just sight read anything but I am a decent sighy reader. When I'm releasing a lot of etudes, I am often looking ahead a few etudes and practicing them simultaneously.
I’m thinking about taking a solo to state solo and ensemble, and this one sounds really nice and kinda fun. I like études, I just start hating them whenever I’m required to learn them. I don’t know why. So maybe if I just learn this on my own, I can take this étude as a solo. That’d be pretty cool. But also, I’m having trouble deciding if I should even do one at all. I made first chair wind ensemble in my band and fourth chair in regional band (even with the *worst* sight reading I have *ever* done), so I’m assuming I’m pretty good. I didn’t expect to get any of these things though, but my section leader from marching season says that my lack of confidence is my biggest problem. So, those chairs are definitely a reason to do a solo. Another reason to take a solo would be that it’s good practice. I *suck* at auditions, especially because of nerves, but I think it would also be because I don’t like being a stand alone player much, because it’s, well, nerve inducing. The more I do things like this, the better I get at doing them. That’s literally the whole point of practicing. Some cons to doing a solo: what if I mess up and seriously embarrass myself? No thank you. Also, another really big one, I’m already super busy. I’ve got school wind ensemble, regional band, school jazz band, a trombone trio ensemble that’s required to take for our school, and big band jazz. I had to not do winter guard because it would’ve taken too much time out of my already crazy schedule. Plus, I’m still a student in school. With all the advanced class so they give us a lot of work to do. Idk if I could fit in time for a solo as well. Plus, I’m only a freshman. I’ve got a couple more years to do it. We’ll see. Maybe I’ll start working on this etude now and take it as a solo next year. That’d be pretty neat.
I am an 8th grader in middle and I am trying to learn there etudes. do you have any tips on the high notes? I need them because my range is not really that high right now only being able to go to the high f partial
Tip from just another student: just use more air, and push your diaphragm. Other than that, practice, try to push it as far as you can and sooner or later the high notes here are not a problem. Remember to use cooler air, think laser beam when playing high notes and you should be fine.
I'm having a mental breakdown. All region is in a week and I have finish learning both of these, I'm not a good player, and I admit I don't practice as much as I should. But I feel so discouraged because everyone in my section is good except me. I've always been 2nd to last, except now I'm not anymore but that's bc the girl doesn't practice at all. But even so I still suck and I can't play well like the others. I bet my band directors feel embarrassed bc of me.
@@androidyay3199 Thank you, although I have already found out and made it easier for myself, I am glad you replied because sometimes I would struggle because I forget about fast air, at the moment I am just polishing each piece!
Can confirm it works, a few years ago I went from being able to play Gs horribly to now where I can play Dbs and sometimes hit Ds, and it only took like a month of once or twice a week high range practice
Yes! Currently, I teach at two universities but I am going to be adding 5 students to my studio soon. If you are interested you can message me on Instagram @lowbrassu.
@@obinnanwakwue5735 Some rubato may be ok but there is no indication to do so. I personally did not feel that I wanted to add any rubato but I also would recommend most students play this a bit slower than this recording.

Awesome! I'm here to help.
0:31 that jump 😩😩 godly
What you don't see is all of the slow practice for those jumps...

good luck for everyone binge watching these as a last ditch attempt to learn them, i'm here with u
Check out John Shank's recording.
I remember this my freshman year, it was so much fun to play
Wow I just searched up the trumpet music and now all of a sudden I get it for trombone. It was a pleasant surprise, though. Great playing!
The algorithm wants you to listen to the trombone music!
These videos have been helping so much learning my etudes
Awesome! That's what they are here for.
Superb articulation !
Found this channel too late into my school's audition process. Next year im defnetely going to use one of these
Well, as they say... Like, subscribe and click that bell so you get notified of new videos.
Love the video, will help me a lot this year to find the right style
Glad it was helpful!
I don't even live in Texas. I'm not even in high school... I just like hearing you play!
0:29 EXCELLENT
Thanks for watching!
Just got a trombone for Christmas and have been learning. Guess I may as well quit now!🤣🤣🤣
dude how do you do all of these etudes so fast. How long does it take you to practice these?
It really depends. I have worked on most of these etudes before. I am practicing them though. (Suns in 6)
@@LowBrassU If you took out a fresh etude you haven't seen before, how much practice would it take to be TH-cam worthy?

@@guojames9269 thanks man
That was such an impressive recording, any tips?
It's all about the slow practice on this one. All you hear is the end product and not all of the slow practice.

You still have next year. Learn from the mistakes. And just don't worry, if you exist, other people like you also exist so you are not alone.
Bro don’t stress there is literally people that don’t know what they are doing like me in 2 hours I have region today 😂😂
I've been practicing the intro and some of the other parts, but I don't always hit the high A, any tips?

I cant even get the high notes😭 it comes out all messy. You're Amazing😭. Can I get advice for the high notes, I know I have to fix something😣😣 help
High range most importantly takes patience. Beyond that, start with glissing scales where you are comfortable and keep trying to go higher.

Slow practice!
I’m going to be a freshman next year on trombone, should I start learning these etudes now?
These are good to practice but unfortunately the etudes will be different next year.
Do you do lessons

Wow, this was amazing!!! Do we actually have to go that fast? For some sections the tempo doesn't seem to be a problem, for others, not so much.
Thanks! I generally recommend playing on the slower side for better accuracy and musicality.

I am in high school I have a lesson teacher but it’s so fast
What would be a good tempo to start teaching this etude to students?
However slowly is necessary to have the highest level of precision. That depends on the player. The important thing is to not practice mistakes.
