The “proprietary” connector is in fact called an XT60, it’s been around in the RC world for many years and has been finding its way onto quite a few portable power solutions for DC connections.

*smh* The title suggests an open ended discussion on the viability of portable solar panels. What I got was an advertisement for Anker products. 10 for marketing. 1 for substance.

Good for camping and very temporary. Using a power station at home use a Glass solar panel and place it in a flat area like a patio roof in full sun. Glass have way more power and will handle all weather conditions and if roof mounted are a much cleaner look with no need break it down and to put it away.

I own the 767 Powerhouse. It's SOLID! But...what I'm quickly learning is that although I bought this thing just to keep my fridge running during an outage, I'm not going to meet my goal of running it day after day after day unless I buy hundreds of dollars of more solar panels and probably the extension battery. And the fridge only uses 284w on average (around 170w without compressor; around 360w with compressor on). There is likely not enough optimal sun hours to both supply the fridge during the day AND recharge the powerhouse from being drained during the non-sun hours. But, if I double it's capacity from 2048whours to 4096whours AND bump my solar from 400W to 800W AND do a little load management (fridge off 2 hrs during sun hours to help solar fully recharge batteries for night time.) We'll see how testing goes. This is all theory talk at this point.

have not bought extra items yet but proud to say I helped a neighbor across the street with what I have presently. Saved her from loosing everything in her fridge and separate freezer FULL of meats! This time no solar was used but did have to go get the Anker once and recharge it. No problem as they're just across the street. @@yecollah

If the power goes out wrap your fridge in sleeping bags and blankets. Open the door as little as possible, for the shortest time possible.

Your fridge must be an insane energy hog. I have an Anker Solix C1000 which has just over 1000 wh battery. I ran my fridge for 4 hours to get an idea as to how long I can use it to power my fridge in an emergency. I ran the battery down only about 25 percent over the course of 4 hours. The display on my power station showed about a 120w draw when my fridge was running. I bought my LG fridge back in to 2005, and it is far from the most energy efficient one out there when compared to newer models.
On a side note, you do not have to run a fridge constantly to have it keep food safe. They can maintain temperatures for an hour or two. You van plug your generator in for about 20 minutes to cool your fridge off and then unplug the fridge to make your power station last longer. If need to go into the fridge, run the power station afterwards to keep it cool.

solar panels might work great in the desert and south part of the world but in Canada in winter time ???? the efficency is limited? Take too many panels to draw solar energy. That means better have a area where the trees do not obstruct the sun. BUT in a situation of emergency one has not many options and solar panels can help the emergency demands better than nothing.
just try to buy 400 watts solar panels they are expensive. when one looks at BLuetti or any other solar gen they are costly brings the cost close to 3,000.00 Can. Not everyone has that money.
so i will save the money maybe next year i will purchase either echo flow or Bluetti nothing under 1800 watts invertor capable. and a minimum of 200 watts solar panels

The default angle on these panels is not necessarily the best angle. The best angle will change over the course of the day.

Solar Panel have a purpose but useless if u are going back home to charge it up. Would be far better having 2 batteries rather than rely on Solar.
