I am from Arunachal Pradesh. My grandfather was an MLA back in the 1980s. Raj Kapoor Sahab visited Arunachal Pradesh in July 1987, the same year when Arunachal first celebrated its Statehood Day. Although it was not an official public visit of Raj Sahab, he had informed the higher authorities about it. My grandfather, being a huge fan of Raj Sahab, assisted him throughout his three-day visit to Arunachal. Grandpa told me that when he asked Raj Sahab about his biggest inspiration, he mentioned "Charlie Chaplin." Besides this, he also shared with my grandpa that he loved reading comics since his childhood. When "Mera Naam Joker" faced a flop, Raj Sahab locked himself in his room and read comics to deal with that depression. My father, who was 7 years old at that time, saw Raj Sahab for the first time and Raj sahab immediately asked him to do "salam karo." In return, Raj Sahab gave him some toffees. He was not only a great actor but also a kind person.
Forever the greatest showman of Indian Cinema. I really wish I could have met him.❤

Same case with Kannada actor V Ravichandran
He made Shanti Kranti movie with huge budget in southern Indian Cinema at that time
It was made in 4 languages (Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi)
For Tamil and Hindi Rajinikanth, for Telugu Nagarjuna Akkineni and for kannada he himself acted and directed
But movie didn't did well at Box office and due to High budget it didn't recovered it's budget amount too

    Ekdam Sach Bol Raha Hoon.
Mujhe Mere Ekdam Bachpan Yaani K 90's K Starting Mein He Jab Pehli Baar Iss Film Ko TV Pe Yaani DD1 Pe Friday Night 9:30 Mein Aane Se Pehle He Bahut Excitement Raha Thaa.
Maine Jab 'Mera Naam Joker' Dekha Tabhi Bachchan K Shuruaat Se He Zindagi Ke Kuch Bahut Bade Sach Samajh Liya Thaa.
Isi Film Ne Mujhe Films K Liye Sochna Shuru Karwaaya.
Last Mein Gaane Mein Jo Line Hai Naah Woh Aaj Bhi Dil Ko Chuu Jaata Hai. I Really Raj Kapoor's Passion For Making Films.
"Sukh Toh Sabka Hota Hai, Dukh Toh Sirf Apna He Hota Hai, Yeh Jism Nashvar Aur Aatma Amar Hai.
Zindagi Mein Koi Kisika Nahi Aur Jo Nissvart Kisiko Bhi Dil Se Jitna Prem Karega Use Utna He Dukh Milega.
Zindagi Mein Jitni Bhi Thokare Khaana, Rona, Khudse Ya Bhagwaan Se Gidgida Lena Lekin Logo K Saamne Nahi, Logo K Saamne Normal Rehna Ya Muskuraana. Qki Khudka Dukh Koi Durr Nahi Kar Sakta Aur Dukh Toh Aise Bhi Hai Jo Kisise Bhi Bataya Nahi Ja Sakta Naa Samjhaaya Ja Sakta Hai.
Isiliye Muskuraana Taaki Log Tumhaare Paas Aa Sake, Dukhi Insaan K Paas Koi Nahi Jaata.
Jisse Bhi Prem Karte Ho, Uski Zindagi Bhar Madat Karna, Chaahe Woh Koi Bhi Ho.
Zindagi Mein Acche Aur Sacche Rehne Mein Bahut Kasht Milta Rahega Lekin Maut Sukoon Ki Hogi" ....

Mera Naam Joker is a masterpiece in its own but also a reminder that not every flop project is a bad movie. I cried for every phase of his life. From infatuation to platonic and selfless love, happiness to tragedy, it covered everything so naturally and effortlessly. And the best part is that eventhough his love stories never ended in his favour, they remained beautiful for him. This movie made me love both Raju as a character and Raj Kapoor as its maker.

"Vesti la giubba" is sung at the conclusion of the first act, when Canio discovers his wife's infidelity, but must nevertheless prepare for his performance as Pagliaccio the clown because "the show must go on".

Today's generation can easily relate but skip or never heard about this movie. Atlast i want to say 50s 60s movies are better than 90s movies they make more sense without have great camera quality and vfx or cgi.

It always has been the case with us as Indian audience, we dont appreciate a movie that pioneers and aims to level up the story telling and type of cinema India can produce.
Examples such as Mera naaam Joker, Jaane bhi do yaaron, Andaaz apna apna, swades are few of the many movies which have aged like fine wines but were underappreciated and financial debacles at the time when they released.
Maybe Raj Sahab was right, we as Indian audience don't deserve good movies with honest efforts to make something worthwhile for everyone and give us something to take away when we walk out of the theatres.

I feel the circus part drains audience. There is no communication btw raju and Marina due to language problem and it irritates audience. Circus part should have been ideally cut by 1 hour and 3d part should have been shorter too. First part was fine and perfect.
What also went against the flim was there used to be lott of outdoor scenes in flims but in this flim . There was no outdoor in 2nd or 3rd story. All shot inside studios.

I literally love this movie. Maine iss movie ko 7th class me dekha tha,aur kabhi bore nhi hua. Ho sakta hai ye waqt se aage ki movie ho. mujhe nhi lgta ki sad ending ki wajah se movie flop huyi hai, bcoz Guru Dutt ki movie v thodi aisi hi hua krti thi. Jo v wajah rha ho, but this is really sad that ki ye movie flop thi. Aaj v ye movie masterpiece hai. Kyunki 90's ki movie ko dekh aaj bhi hi hasi aa jati hai ki ,kya dekhte the but isko dekhne pr av v hum movie me kho jate hain❤❤❤

Plot of story feel disconnected to the theme of story ..while watching the movie , it seems that his biggest loss and pain was that he couldn't get the chick everytime ..while his whole struggle took backseat .if they have added different tragic plots ..mpvie would haave been better

One interesting thing I observed thar Kapoor family always showed nudity (as per the old standard)(many people will not show that famous scene from Ram teri ganga maili even today ) in their films but never allowed any Female even the famous actress they married had to stop working. Even Karina Kapoor in an interview Said his father was not very happy with the idea of Karishma becoming an actress but the current generation is different Karean, Karishm and Alia Bhat continued their work. So my point is they were liberal enough to show nudity on screen but conservative within their own family.
Even Mumtaz had refused marriage praposal from shaming Kapoor of this reason.

Yes true ye film ahead of time hai actually ye film timeless hai evergreen hai jitni tarif ki jaye kam hai raj kapoor sahab ne sabit kiya ki wo hi asli show man they aur usse behtarin modern cult film ke director koi nahi ho saktey unki ajtak koi le nai paya modern film banane ka agar class join karns hai to raj kapoor sahab ki filmon ka direction dekhiye khaskar mera nam joker jaisi soulfull filme ko dekhiye idea lag jayega cult filmein kaisi banani hai abhi tak raj kapoor ke style ko koi director chhu nai paya isiliye mera nam joker jaisi filmein koi dubara nai bana paya
Hollywood mein joker ko criminal dikhaya jata hai kyunko clown ka era ab nahi hai isiliye galat portrayed karte hain joker kabhi kisi ke sath galat nai kartey ye bat alag hai sab uspe hastey hain fir bhi joker khus rahta hai kyunki yahi uska kam hai par joker ko koi gale nai lagana chahta ye uski pida hai usi gahrai ko pakad ke raj kapoor sahab ne joker ki real life ko portrayed kiya Hollywood hota to criminal dikhata lekin joker asli mein kya hai use raj kapoor sahab ne samjha aur wahi banaya jo real life mein joker ke sath hota hai aur hota tha
Raj kapoor sahab ne apni life ka kuch hissa us filme mein dikhaya lekin asli kahani joker ki hi thi
Isse behtar joker ki biopic nahi ban sakti jismein sachchai hai
Hats of to legendary director raj kapoor sahab ahead of time timeless show man futuristic movie man

But the movie made me feel a kind of that I never felt before, something unknown .
Now I am mature to feel the essence of the story.
I am big fan of RK Sir and Mukesh .
They both gave me a tune of tragedy that is real which we want to ignore but it will stay with us throughout the life.

I have not watched this movie. But have realized one thing which I hope is something the government also realizes. Movies like these that are loved overseas not only promote a sort of love towards a country thus boosting tourism for the country but also boost the nations soft power as well. Hopefully such achievements are factored-in and such artist receive the needed financial support so they can make invaluable contributions and just useless awards.
