- Today I do a challenge of the Lunchtime Pizzas, todays contestants are Domino's $5 lunchtime pizza Versus Pizza Capers $8.95 lunchtime pizza... Who will come out on top?!

Not even a fair comparison at all. Regular pizza vs premium pizza. 1 topping vs 5 toppings. $5 pizza vs $9 pizza. Not even close. Of course Pizza capers won. That's like comparing a standard hot dog to a nice smoked sausage.

It's a pre-set lunch-time special from each store. He was fully transparent with the price of each, and even went as far as to test the pepperoni individually.
He’s testing the lunch time special for both restaurants. An equivalent Domino’s pizza would be more expensive than the Pizza Capers one, because it wouldn’t be on the $5 menu.
Crikey the capers pizza looks better!
I'll get similar pizzas. Proceeds to get something totally different at pizza capers.

That pizza capers was actually how pizzas were when I was a kid.
The fight to lower costs and compete with each other has resulted in the sparse toppings.
I suppose you get what you pay for.
why not get a pepperoni pizza from both places? I think pizza capers is better regardless but this isn't really a fair comparison.

Ironically, I used to go to a small local pizza parlor and loved their anchovy and capers pizza! The combination of flavors of those two ingredients on a cheese pizza is truly amazing!

Greg if you ever find yourself up at the Sunny Coast, be sure to try 24/7 Pizza at Alexandra Headland. Hands down the best pizza I have ever tasted. I recommend the BBQ Chicken pizza

They literally ran an ad campaign in the US to apologise for how bad their pizzas are and to promise they've changed them.

They can be rather hit and miss sometimes, prices are quite steep for a standard pizza compared to the high end dominos range. Nothing beats the old individual genuine italian pizza shops if you can find them.
Pizza Capers looks so delicious, want one! But in USA, we don't have a Pizza Capers.. I do prefer a pizza with lots of toppings; I sure can see the difference in quality, thanks Greg!

Everyone complaining that its an unfair comparison... He would have to spend $16+ to get the same quality pizza at dominoes. It never stood a chance in the first place.

I Love Brisvegas!!! I was going to say Pizza Capers is not available here in the USA. Pizza capers at least has a LOT of toppings, other than Domino's.

Only a couple of Pizza Capers stores here in Sydney and unfortunately nowhere near me. They were definitely my Pizza of choice when I lived in QLD, Dominoes can't even compete tbh
It would've been fairer if you compared pepperoni ones from both places.
I refuse to eat Dominos after countless disappointing pizzas with hardly any toppings. They use to be better when Pizza Hut was the main brand but they've dropped the ball.

The dominos one seems really cheap and the best value. The pizza capers one looked nicer though and perhaps worth the extra if you can afford it.

i live 2 minutes from pizza capers and it's the only one I'd ever buy. seafood barcelona is my favourite. .i also add double anchovies. it's Yummo Greggo!

Get the next size smaller Dominos and load up the toppings then get the next larger size Capers with one topping and lets see which is better

You should try Maries Pizza Greg! There are stores all over the gold coast so there should be one near you, I've been going there for 30 odd years and it keeps getting better and better.

Pizza Capers is more juicy and unpredictable. Heaps more flavour and more delicious.
If you spent $4 more than Pizza Capers in Domino's favor you get over 2 1/2 Pizzas for $13

The ingredients are better at Pizza Capers but unless you get the thin and crispy (which is like a Sao biscuit) the other crust is just doughy, especially once you get a few toppings on there. I find that really detracts from the experience, especially when paying a premium.
It all depends if you are looking for quality or quantity.

There is no Pizza Capers in Sydney but there is a similar franchise called Crust who make higher quality, gourmet pizzas. Like Pizza Capers, Crust pizzas are smaller and more expensive than Dominoes or Pizza Hut but much better quality and more flavoursome. You've got Crust up in Brisbane you should do a taste test on them. Cheers.

Never heard of capers so no I don't have one near my house. I don't even have as much a fish and chips take away shop near my house And yes I live in town. At first I misunderstood I thought you were comparing both of the pizzas but it turned out it was just the lunch time special that each place had on offer. question......? did Domino's and capers only have one to choice from? Like this is our lunch time special on type of pizza? Any way it don't really matter that much I am glad I watched the full video because at first I was saying unfair Alistair but it pays to wait...... and see that it really was what each had on offer as a lunch time special. Good Greg you did not disappoint me.

Not a fair comparison considering one is a value range pizza, and the other one is a premium pizza. Would have been more fair against a $5 Pizza Hut Pepperoni instead. Pizza Capers started off good, but have become a rather hit and miss affair as even indicated in most of their store reviews. I'd stick with an independent classic Italian pizza restaurant than these chain stores in general.

Well I know it's been a while since this was posted. I call domino pizza illusion pizza...you see it but cant taste it. The topping, or what ever, doesn't go to the edge. Things that look like cheese are not, meat is razor thing, crust is terrible.
Sadly a lot of other pizzeria are going the same way.
Not one resembles the pizza of my youth. Sad.
I hate shrinkage. Especially on a bland sausage. Not a big fan of a cheesy greasy crust either :(
it's unfair comparing lunch time deal, cuz some capers pizza costs $20 at dinner time, domino is way better with price, size, waiting time, pizza bases choices..no wonder dominos franchise rapidly expanding but capers isnt!

@Uncle Rico holy moly. They start at 53k here and nobody buys them haha. I don't even know why GMC still exists, Chevy sells equally fancy Silverados and Cadillac makes the Escalade. My old man buys the nicest Silverados available, fully loaded Duramax and everything, and he won't buy a GMC because he thinks it's just brand snobbery.
