The Copper Mine Graveyard in Swansea | Time Team | Timeline

  • Two hundred years ago Swansea was one of the wealthiest cities in the country, if not the world. The Welsh port city once led the world in copper smelting, but today there's almost nothing to be seen of this unique heritage. As the archaeologists strip turf and shift tonnes of muck, they reveal the traces of this once-great industry and rediscover the story of the men who worked in it.

@AdHocFuture - Even in the newest reboot episodes, computer-generated images are interesting and all, but Mr Victor's art really DID breathe life into the lives of the long dead. He made them into the real people that they were. He had enormous talent.

Under the highway overpass in Denver, Colorado, is the neighborhood of Swansea, threatened again by highway enlargement. Several neighborhoods there were from the new smelters hiring huge town populations on the cheap from existing foreign places. So, Swansea provided...after awhile they wanted more money.
The city was smelting some ores that were mixed. One recognized copper producer. Usually silver and lead. Early gold.

Recently, ESG (environment/society/governance) has become a hot topic in management, but in preparation for this, even SMEs and non-profit organizations, except for large companies and listed companies, still have what ESG is? You don't seem to know what to prepare and run. So, the May webinar was held under the theme of 'ESG, SSI and Digital Trust'.
The Government of British Columbia, Canada, demonstrates a demo along with an explanation of how to manage and trust the data generated by the self-sovereign identity technology to reduce GHGs generated during various operational activities in copper mines. Please refer to the video below. .................
"No business is allowed on a dead planet." This message from environmental activist David Brower is, in a way, the best way to explain the origins of ESG. This is because if the market collapses due to the climate crisis and social problems, the company loses the ground to continue doing business. - One-book ESG class (Jihyun Shin, JoongAng Books) -

That does seem uncanny. I have something similar I shake my head over, every time I see Stewart Ainsworth. It's probably a coincidence, but his hair is the same color and grows the exact same way as my grandfather's, my father's, mine, and my son's hair. But my last Ainsworth ancestor to be born in England was back in 1625 in Blackburn, and he died in 1680 in Massachusetts Colony. I thought when I reproduced that our child would probably have some glimmer of my husband's very curly hair, but It's as straight as pine needles.

They should have had representatives from their environmental protection department onsite. I shudder at the amount of toxic substances that are still mixed into all that soil. At one point, they mention that near-pure copper still contained arsenic! Even the coal dust, in addition to being a lung irritant causing asthma and emphysema, is a huge carcinogenic. And all that stuff ended up in the local water supply, too. Why were they not wearing respirator-type masks on this dig and showering off when ready to leave the site? As Robinson said, the life expectancy of the factory workers was less than 40 years. I wonder if that also applied to the local residents who were also exposed to all those toxic chemicals.

I live in Sudbury, Canada, we have a shared past between the two areas because Ludwig Mond set up a nickle copper refining complex near Swansea at Clydach ( we just call it the Mond refinery on this side ). I have never been there but like I said we have a connection. The ore was mined here at places like Frood, the ore was process into copper/nickel mat at Consiton works and sent in wooden drums by rail and ship to Clydach for final refining. There is still a large Carbonyle plant there today but it only process Sinter nickel into high purity battery nickel.

SO, you apparently guarentee the people involved, free healthcare. How does that fit with the amount of asbestos and arsenic you have found? Havent people been sick enough for you to close down asebestos mines? What about the arsenic? Have you forgotten how sick your crew got from that?

TT is so fun to watch. It was on for 20 seasons! I watch it every night. I hate commercials, so I watch these on Reijer Zaaijer's channel with no commercials. Click on his playlist & every episode is there , including all the special shows Tony did , the worst jobs in history, plus others.Free , no commercials, & be sure you tap your screen at the top for the continuous play feature. The first few seasons T,T. was just 4 shows. It will be a few seasons until they produced the 13 episodes per year. ENJOY! Stay safe. Plus, DISOBEDIENCE is a DEMAND for CHANGE...FJB

Garrett Poppell My comment was like saying “please keep it clean. More fun for all,” in a light hearted way. Sorta like a posh older lady might have responded back in the day. Keep smiling!🙂🕺🏽
