Leslie Nielsen was one of the greatest actors we’ve ever had! His timing was perfect!
17:24 - you guys missed that joke when she asked "Goodyear?" in response the blimp accident story, and he said "no, the worst". Goodyear is a huge American Tire Company, but they're also famous for their blimps/zeppelins which are used to provide overhead shots of football games
A British person questioning if Monty Python is British.
I am officially old.
49 and American - how do I know classic British comedy better than these 2? Yeah, old.
Back in the day it was so hillarious. The actor was important because he was known for serious roles before the spoof films like this and airplane.
Leslie Nielsen was in the sci-fi movie Forbidden Planet, the disaster flic Poseidon Adventure, and the romance Tammy and the Bachelor.
@@michaelstach5744 He was also in the "Something to Tide You Over" segment of Creepshow, with Ted Danson.
back in the day?! BACK IN THE DAY?!!??!!? it's still hillarious to this day!!!!!!!!!
Thank you VERY MUCH for including the entire scene of Leslie Nielson jumping around his apartment. I absolutely love that stunt scene so much, because its transitions are just so damn smooth. You literally can't see where Leslie Nielson ends and his stunt actor begins, and vice versa.
The fireworks store exploding almost happened to me when I was 18. That summer I worked at a big fireworks store just outside of town and our supervisor used to let us shoot off a few fireworks in the early morning hours before the store opened. One time we were standing there with the double doors of the store open watching a large batch of jumping jacks go off, when several of them shot inside the store, spraying sparks everywhere. In my head, I flashed to the "Nothing to see here" scene from Naked Gun. Luckily, we got them put out before the whole store went up!
The beauty of the ZAZ movies like Airplane, Naked Gun and Hot Shots are that they’re so dense with jokes that you do miss some that you catch on rewatch. They just don’t make comedies like this anymore, they use stupidity in the most brilliant way 😂
Great comment!! 👍🏻
Police Squad was a short lived tv series. It may have been too unique for network television.
Exactly. Another was SLEDGE HAMMER.
@@scottstewart5784but Sledge lasted 2seasons because ABC had "nothing else"😅
My favorite sledge episode was when they got the amish to arm themselves
@johncurtis5948 Yes! That episode was titled "Witless," a spoof of the Harrison Ford movie "Witness."
I watched the Police Squad show during its original run, but it grew old real fast.
Poor OJ...The part on the ship was hilarious when I saw it in the theater...One of the last great parody movies.
Also the last time anyone said "Poor OJ" with anything approaching sincerity.
@@ErisRising The "man" don't play! :)...I'm old enough to remember his playing years...And then the Hertz rent a car commercials...Oh how the mighty have fallen...
I couldn't wait to see how you guys would react to the Queen sliding down the table with "Frank" on top of her. 😂
Monty Python and the Flying Circus was a British comedy show with skits. The skits were pretty funny with their absurd and intelligent humor. They also did movies. The best one is Monty Python and the Holy Grail where medieval British knights try to find the grail that Jesus Christ used in the last supper.
The look on her face when they showed the full body condoms! 😂
lmao love this movie. This is one of the best genres for "reactions" because a funny movie is even funnier with the youtube laughing along with you lol
When the jokes are without words, they call them sight gags.
Hi guys! Yes, Monty Python was definitely British. In fact it was the first English comedy show to be aired in the US on public broadcasting. Me and all of my friends loved it, still do in fact.
As an early teen, me and dad used to love watching this movie.
The opening scene wasn't a random collection of bad guys. It was a rogue's gallery summit meeting of 1970s-era dictators. Idi Amin, president of Uganda. Yasser Arafat, head of the PLO. Muammar Gaddafi, prime minister of Lybia. Mikhail Gorbachevv, president of the Soviet Union (got his birthmark rubbed off). Ayatollah Khomeini, religious and political head of Iran (doubtful he ever sported an orange mohawk). How and why a local city cop got involved remains one of life's great mysteries.
Based on a short lived, by American standards, TV show, Police Squad. The show that was infamously canceled for being too funny.
An ABC executive noted that, during focus group testing, people were laughing so much at one joke, they would miss the next joke. He felt it wouldn't work with American audiences, and was concerned, that because of a running gag that Dreben would hit a number of trash cans depending on the episode number, viewers had to watch it in order to get the joke.
So for that reason, it was canceled.
short lived meaning 6 episodes
Leslie Nielsen is considered a comedic actor now, but he was originally a leading man in some large movies. If you have never seen Forbidden Planet, he was the lead actor, and Captain of the spacecraft. This movie was also the launch of Robby the Robot's fame, Robby later appeared on the Lost In Space tv series. Peace.
He also guest starred on several television shows such as Perry Mason. I must remind some of you viewers that Ed was played by Academy Award winner, George Kennedy who also played tough guys and criminals in film and television roles. This my first time seeing him in a comedy role.
O.J. Was in the series “Roots”.. THAT and this was before he was a murderer. Roots is one the the best series ever made.
Love Grandma Debbie
Surely you can't be serious. I am serious and don't call me Shirley. Famous quote from Airplane.
LOL that first joke where OJ Simpson kept banging his head into stuff and falling into wet paint was an exaggeration of the common movie scene where a person first gets shot and then experiences a double-whammy of falling over the edge of a building, or getting his by a bus, or having a pile of bricks fall on top of him. Movies would do this to increase the dramatization of the action scene. In this case, the double-whammies just kept going on and on and on with increasing absurdity hahahahahaah we lost Leslie Neilson WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY too soon! He was the BEST comedian
They do it again with Ludwig's death at the end.
@@Osprey850: "My father died the same way!"
Jane was Priscilla Presley. As in the ex-wife of Elvis Presley. And the Vincent guy was on a show called Fantasy Island.
24:54 - Chewing tobacco (aka smokeless tobacco) has been a tradition among baseball players for the longest time. Instead of smoking it, the tobacco is placed between the cheek and gums. The spitting you're seeing is the side effect which is a buildup of saliva from chewing.
The right-fielder was Reggie Jackson, a very famous baseball player back in the day.
Hey that police commissioner is Tony Soprano's mom. Haha, I just realized that after all these years.
Please watch the other Naked Gun movies
Monty Python and the holy grail Is a MUST! Especially for 2 Brits such as yourselves. Classic British comedy!
This is from the same guys who made Airplane! They did two more Naked Gun movies. But they also did a bit more sophisticated comedy called Ruthless People. I highly recommend it!
Seriously? Is Monty Python British? .. is the Pope Catholic? Was Queen Elizabeth I British? Does gravity make things fall down? Is English spoken in Britain? Was Monty Python arguably the greatest comedy troupe that ever drew breath British? REALLY?
We just have never seen it so not 100% sure :D This is why we are doing movie reactions aha!
😂" English... spoken in Britain" ever been to London??
Umm yeah .. but it was 1961 and didn't speak to anyone as I was on a school trip to the London Palladium Theater to watch The Sound of Music with original Broadway cast .. except for the lead Mary Martin@@Ivansyoykov
english spoken in britan everywhere except in taxi cabs
...do fish swim....
Besides the Monty Python similarities mentioned by others, I also saw many things in this movie that reminded me of another British comedian; remember the "Benny Hill Show"?
I would love to see Blazing Saddles again.
Yeah, anything by Mel Brooks is great!
Young Frankenstein
"Oh Frank everyone should have a friend like you" always cracks me up.
It always makes me sad to see younger people reacting to this movie not recognizing that the 'bad guys' at the start in Beirut were based on real people back in the day. Yasser Arafat from Palestine for example
1000% please watch THE JERK you will not regret it
God bless Steve Martin…🙏🏻❤️
It was very over the top. I think James liked it more than you Millie because of how cheesy it was. Isn't he the one who likes all the cheese.(get it😉).
That was good ahah!
Yes, Monty Python is British, you’ll like The search for the holy grail. You should also watch Hot Shots. It’s a parody of Top Gun so if you haven’t seen Yop Gun, watch that first.
Monty Python has one American member, but the rest of them are British. They started with a BBC television show called Monty Python's Flying Circus.
If you're looking for comedies that are a little less cheesy and gag oriented, maybe you could try *O Brother, Where Art Thou* or *Little Miss Sunshine* .
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie, I have seen dozens of times, with both (or is it 3) of you. Your reactions to it made me feel like if it was first time and better than that more fun than my actual first time watching it. You were both very entertaining but when you wife saw the first few hyperbolic skits the look was priceless especially the safe sex scene. Had a lot of fun thank you so much you two.🥰
Uh.. after this, I think your prepared to watch “Blazing Saddles” now !!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love Grandma Debbie
This movie is one of those movies you watch it again and again and the more you watch it it gets funnier. Also when you think back on the things in the movie at a later date it is so funny it sticks with you and you don't mind watching it again a few years later
That was a killer performance by O.J.
. . . . . . . . .I'll see myself out now. . .
23:30 gets me every time. Presenting the Queen of England a US Revolutionary War Musket 🤣🤣🤣
Did James really ask if Monty Python is British? Aside from Terry Gilliam, every member of Monty Python is British. At a minimum, you need to watch "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and "The Life of Brian". They are near the apex of British comedy.
Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker are American. Leslie Nielsen was Canadian. Ricardo Montalbán was Mexican (though he lived in the US).
OJ Simpson starred in three Naked Gun movies before his turn to infamy.
What would now be killer would be for you to review _Forbidden Planet_ (1956, a brilliant science fiction adaptation of the Shakespeare play _The Tempest)_ with Leslie Nielsen in a serious leading role. Everyone was surprised at his excellence as a comic actor (in _Airplane, The Naked Gun, Dead And Loving It)_ because he had previously been so good in straight dramatic roles ... you may find yourself waiting (completely out of the timeline) for him to say, "And don't call me Shirley."
Hi, FYI, the opening scene were all of the various dictators from the 70's in the middle east.
Great movie. This movie is base on short lived 6 episode tv series that was ahead of its time. You should also watch Top Secret 1984 from the same directors
Laurel & Hardy were a comedy team in the late 1920s, through the 1930s, and into the '40s. They were great at slapstick comedy. They had short films, such as "Helpmates", "Busy Bodies", "Sons of the Desert". There are many more. They would be great to review.
28:44.... that's Reggie Jackson. He was one of the most iconic baseball players of the 1970s! This was the next to last team he played for, the California Angels. (1982-'86)
By the time "Naked Gun" was released, Reggie had been retired for a year.
Great reaction! It is very interesting to see your joint reaction to the film Robocop 1987. This is a cool classic 👍🔥
The part where the driving instructor tells Stephanie to flip the truck driver off is even funnier if You know The Driving Instructor is played by the very distinguished actor John Houseman. He usually played in very serious roles or a very difficult boss or teacher type of character. Very out of character.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 15:11
The Seattle Mariners stadium is, if I remember, where "The Wave" originated. And the sportscasters and most of the players were the real deal, including the assassin, Reggie Jackson, a very famous ball player. A lot of the jokes were probably tricky because of the time and that a lot of them might not have made sense to non-Americans as well.
The full body condoms were the most unexpected and hilarious stunt I can remember.
When Frank jumps around his apartment looking for intruders. this is how every man wishes he could enter his house every time. The fact it would cause hospital visits is why we don't.
Now that you've done one that's up James's Alley. The next one should be for Millie. Do Ghost with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. It's a murder love story.
By the way, Monty Python is British.
Who'd have thought Elvis Presley's wife could act...haha she's such a beauty too, Leslie is such a legendary comedic actor
I don’t mean to make you feel bad, but I heard British voices ask, “Is Monty Python British?” I nearly had a heart attack. M
British people asking if Monty Python is British. Lol
Driving instructor, the legendary Sir John Houseman!
When you do the sequels...WATCH AND READ THE CREDITS
Please do Pee-wee Herman's Big Adventure (R.I.P.)
I wish you had shown the Enrico Palazzo scenes.
Let's face it. She's more of a 'Chris P. Bacon' type of girl. 😉
Hugh G. Rection
@@SansAziza no, she laughed really well at a news blooper featuring Chris P. Bacon.
I’ve always loved Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Hilarious though I’m not crazy about the ending with the rabbit.
Millie looks lost.
Surely you jest....and don't call me Shirley.
Now you need Naked Gun 2 1/2 and then 33 1/3. Awesome movies.
It's such a fun movie but I prefer the sequel. I prefer comedies like Spaceballs and
Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I also like a lot of movies with John Candy like Uncle Buck
and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (which is a great Thanksgiving movie here in the US.
Which are also great comedies.
The real at the time, California Angels with "Mr. October" Reggie Jackson and The Seattle Mariners. At The LA Coliseum. The band is the USC Trojan Marching Band. And Real Baseball Announcers of the day.
Actually it's Dodger Stadium.
Elvis's widow was the actress.
That was awesome for the 10th or 15th time...😅😂
Amazing those fish in the tank are lion fish from Asia or Indian ocean and someone released a couple in the Caribbean sea in the 80s or 90s and now they are plague as they have no natural predators
As a gracious American host, yes Monty Python is British. Also, the only correct way to have tea is sweetened iced tea. Biscuits are circular croissants, not cookies. Finally, British subjects must address The Queen as Her Majesty. Only non-British may call her The Queen. You're welcome.
If you're a fan of the original Star Trek, Ricardo Montalban was a famous villain in both, among many TV series and movies.
Yes, Priscilla Presley is the former wife of the late singer Elvis Presley and mother to their daughter Lisa Marie. Who knew she has a funny bone, Elvis I guess.
Yep an all three Presley's are no longer living.
@@runrafarunthebestintheworld yes, they were here a short time in the world, off to other things together.
You cut the best scene him giving money to the guy at the docks.
¡¡Muy buena reacción!! Abrazote desde Argentina!!
13:13 I'm sure you caught it in the edit, but instead of going through the door Frank walks around the movie set.
The naked gun is bwehesh? I knew it! 😆
Millie you're too serious! Literal humor is hilarious! I'm old, too, a British people not knowing who Monty Python are, odd! Watch the ministry of silly walks, the Spanish Inquisition, and of course Monty Python and the Holy Grail! Ni! Hilarious!
It's very normal for guys to love these type of movies more than girls. 😂😁👍
There are two sequels "Naked Gun 2-1/2" and "Naked Gun 33-1/3". I suggest you also watch "Kentucky Fried Movie", "Top Secret!" and the "Scary Movie" series.
Oh wow I wonder if you saw my comment on the airplane reaction video yall did I recommended this. I will recommend another maybe you will see this lol. Its called police academy very funny movie series I think they made three of them.
The female lead is Priscilla Presley, wife of Elvis, mother of Lisa Marie.
Yep all three of those Presley's are gone.
Priscilla is still kicking.
The lion fish is an invasive fish in Florida. It's encourage for people to kill/eat them!
Your wife actually was tortured watching this! Your reaction was great ! But next time you might want to react alone to Awesome movies like this!
Monty python. Five Brits and one American.
I saw this movie last night with friends , I had no idea If any of the jokes would hold up, I braced myself for some 80s cringe. Not only does it still hold up but 95% of the jokes still hold up, but it’s funnier than any movie I’ve seen in a while
Great movie
Yassir arafat, edi amin, gorbechev, kadfi, all "bad guys" of the day.
Jane, played by the Late Priscilla Presley, the widow of Elvis.
Yep RIP Priscilla she was adorable.
3 movies. "The Naked Gun", "The Naked Gun 2 1/2" and "The Naked Gun 3 1/3" they are all very silly but if you enjoyed this then you will have fun with all of them.
Are you Truly British? Monty Python? You have to be kidding me.
If you like this, try all the various movies Leslie Nielsen is in. He is hysterical.
Elvis wife Pricilla prestley was Jane. I like the police and airplane one. Never saw this.
Yes, Monty Python is very Brutish. They had a TV sketch comedy show and 2 movies.
Monty Python had multiple tv shows, 5 movies, and numerous comedy albums.
Good one!
I don't think Mrs. Beesley understands this type of humor.
British people asking if Monty Python is british kind of hurts my heart and I'm not even british. Shouldn't that be mandatory viewing over there?
Elvis Presley's wife kids !!😂😳
