To me this always was such a great fusion of that 60s big band feel, progressive 70s guitar soloing with a touch of 80s synthesiser and orchestral folded into the mix. Guitar solo was one of my main inspirations for learning instrument after hearing back in the 80s.
This song got me through a lot of days working crap jobs in food service. I was lucky my bosses were okay with me listening to my MP3 player when there was a low likelihood of customers calling before we opened. Heck, even now I still love the transition from new jazz to what sounds like a "reach for the stars" type of song just midway through the song.
I dedicate this song to one of my best friends ever, Robert!! Robert showed me this anime during a time when I revealed a deep dark secret and the anime instantly cheered me up :)kudos to both him and the uploader or this clip!
Do a Google Images search for "Mikimoto Macross." Haruhiko Mikimoto is the character designer for Macross and he made the painting. You should be able to find this one and others like it that way.
Awesome track. I wonder if someone has extended the more mellow portion starting at 2:08? Really relaxing and nostalgia inducing.... despite the fact that I only recently watched Macross. lol
@@barrybend7189 Battletech actually licenced Macross designs alongside another mecha anime, Fang of the Sun Dougram. Ironic considering just how different Dougram is from Macross.
I was trying to find fighter pilot anime and this and Area 88 were recommended. After watching Area 88, I decided just last night to start watching this. This show is so good. I’m 12 episodes in and loving it so far. Killer animation and soundtrack too
1:32 Gustav Holst like. A feeling of watching millions of stars turning out on the bridge of the spacecraft carrier with all electronic parts running synchronously at the moment you leave the earth atmosphere, gravity dissipates while the unknown looms.
Can you please recommend more? I've been searching for more of this style but Fusion Jazz is such a broad genre... I like the kind that is as energetic and fun as this, but a lot of the genre just sounds like lounge music... Even Casiopea has only 2 albums that sound like this while all the others go in different directions
Go listen to Persona 5 soundtrack, its not so much 80s sounding but its got that Jazzy vibe to it that commemorates this kind of style of songs. Trust me you'll love it. Type in 'Main Theme', 'Confession' ;)
@LordOrlock Macross 7 is pretty difficult to get, to be honest. Most people just focus on the fact that the enemies fold in, steal spiritia, fold out, Basara tries to sing and fails. Rinse and Repeat. If that's all you see then...well, don't even bother trying to understand why M7 is so damn good. It has some incredibly subtle and clever plot points in it and is a character driven show, which means it doesn't try to match against SDF's apocalypse scenario (very wise for a sequel).
Depends on your phone and service provider, really. If your phone has Bluetooth, all you have to do is find a download for the song (or rip it from the video) and edit it down to about twenty seconds, Bluetooth it onto your phone, and you're golden, but otherwise... well if your phone has a manual that'd be the place to start,
@hawkthief well considering how robotech was made some faults have to be found. but i love it nonetheless for giving me the chance too enjoy all macross has to offer!
Can't remember where I found it, but if you google something like "SDF Macross Soundtrack" followed by "Rapidshare" or "torrent" or something like that, you should be able to find it.
Odd thing is, exactly the same thing happened to me. Saw 4 episodes, thought I had wasted my money. Months later, I really wanted to know what happened...how could such a seemingly shit story go on for 40+ eps? It was when I saw the rest that I realised how good it was :)
@LordOrlock Everybody, even those who fancy "Plus", told me the same. I haven´t seen yet 7 but I hope someday watch it when I´m in mood and have the enough stomach!
Well, a quick search on Google pulls up nothing but Macross 7 and Macross Frontier tabs. Which is great if you like all Macross music, but not quite as good as having the notes to that solo.
@LordOrlock Finally someone who thinks the same! PLUS is to say at least MEDIOCRE, is just "Twilight" but with airplanes! Kawamori really screwed the series since "Plus".
Oh, its really quite simple. Go to macrosshare DAWT com and it should be in the soundtrack section. If you prefer torrents, wel, just type "sdf macross ost" into your favorite torrent tracker (isoHunt, demonoid, etc.) and you shouldn't have too hard a time finding it. Good hunting!

Runner guitar riff better.
Damn straight! I just listened to it like 9 times in a row.
@@markplott4820 what's that?
Me too. It's just way too good even if it's an 80s instrumental.

Even though I'm a 90's kid, 80's anime is still my favorite. marcross, zeta gundam, zz gundam, char's counter attack and many more....
Check out Gunbuster or Patlabor OVA.
Check out Gundam: 0080 and Turn A.
Gundam Stardust Memory is good too

Song's so damn good!! Perfect funky 70s sound, but with an unexpected super high-speed guitar solo. Speed groove??
This is from the 80's to be exact my friend.
@@glennhuinda9783 I know, it's from 82. But the style is definitely 70s. Couldn't be more obvious.
Deculture... this is what will remain from Macross for all eternity in my heart. This and all the Minmay songs. Great show.
hands down one of my favorite songs that ive heard in an action anime. hell, macross is more of a space opera/drama than it is an action anime
I love the guitar part of the song. I wish I could play that myself!
They was going in on it!!
That guy's a monster on the guitar.
I'll never get tired of this one
