The interesting part is that it is geared so that it will run that speed in rough terrain. That will be anything but slow. Most people will even have their hands full with a 40 mph rig on paved roads.
@@RomasNoreika The E Revo 2 is way faster than a Kraton 6s or 8s. Mine ran 54mph in tall grass with stock gearing and fitted with a set of Proline Badland tires.
@@jamesstubbs8954 Nice :) I am running my EREVO 2.0 all stock on 4S. I mean it is insanely fast. I think with 6S I would kill it :D I mean you need A lot of space.
It a killer truck, it is really tough unless you are the type of R/C driver that goes for HUGE air, you can bend the chassis ! I bent mine on the 4th day, when I landed on the edge of skate park ramp. Granted that was from about 25 feet high. I found it parts (some) cost more than than the same part for my 8S X-maxx. That said, they are both absolutely AWESOME !
Such an awesome RC. Its basically the spektrum smart version of the hobbywing max6 4985 combo without the motor fins and a kv tweak. I would say it definitely comes undergeared from the factory so that it barely even warms up. I would just toss the speed pinion in straight off the bat and call it good.
The gearing has a lot to do with this 8 s ,it handles great and can be upgraded easily,mine has the 800 kv max 5 system and it’s uncontrollable on 8s ,it will do close to 60 and has tons of torqe .

darkiee69 Wrong. Size wise it’s more a 1/6. It’s the exact same wheelbase as an Xmaxx and about 4” wider than an Xmaxx. The 6s is exactly 1/8 scale. You obviously have no Rc experience
I thought it came with the bigger pinion in the box. It is cool, it is more like a Monster Truggy than a Monster truck, with the lower body height comes a lower centre of gravity which means it will win over the XMAXX in some thing's and lose on others, same of the XMAXX, I think it would be more fun bashing with the stock pinion but have not seen anyone bashinghard on it yet. I tend to run my UDR on 6S as it has a lot of alloy upgrades so the weight has increased, the same with my 30 degree's North SDT that I run on 8S, it can be run on anything from 3S to 8S and they are so much fun. Even my gas end up with bigger engine's due to the weight of using alloy upgrades to strengthen them. Cant wait to see you two bashing together with one each.

wallys rc demolition Its a 30lb truck, not a drag racer. It’s under geared from the factory for bashing. Spend 5 minutes on it and swap out the pinion gear if you want more speed

The Xmaxx is a great Monster Truck! So good that we still have and love ours. Having said that, it sits broken in the corner often, just because parts break on it almost every time we run it. It is always very fun while it lasts. The Kraton has yet to break anything on ours, and we run it just as hard and more often because it is broken less. Could be sheer irony, but that is our history with both vehicles so far. I credit this to the Very Low CG of the Kraton. It almost NEVER rolls over. Hope this helps! We have been setting money aside for a while to be able to pull this week off, and most likely wont be able to keep both of them. Had to tap into some savings to make this week happen. We totally understand my friend. Keep saving when you are able to and it will happen!! 👍⚓😎
200 for another motor 200 for a esc a stronger servo also hot racing steering block 600 dollars later and you would have a good rc it's not worth it in its stock form, get a roller when it comes available rather than pump a extra 600 into a 900 rc that's underpowered for its size and weight
We (at least for now) have decided to keep both and sell a handful of our 1/10 scale trucks so we can afford to keep both. They are just two very different beasts, both with cool pros and some cons.
It won't be easy to upgrade the motor. Looks like there's not much space behind. And while it's a 49 mm diameter can, it's more like a 40-42 motor with 25mm mount spacing. This means you can't install a large 56 or 58 mm motor, but you can't install a long TP 4070CM either due to length. I suppose the TP 4260 might fit. It ill need a Max5 ESC before that will work properly though.
They don't auto storage after driving if you take the battery below storage level. You would need to charge UP to storage in that case. Careful what you say!

64kph kraton 8s.. Not bad for a 24-pound truck on a stock off-road pinion. Xmaxx is 70kph. But if u attach the speed pinion on the kraton 8s, u could reach the advertised 88kph speed written on the box
You guys need to be careful. You are getting dangerously close to catching the Speed Run bug! I used to help organize Speed Run events in the Metro DC area where one of our regulars achieved ~100mph with a 1:5 scale FG that actually had around the same overall power as this the Kraton and XMaxx. It was a VERY different car, but there are people speed running large-scale vehicles like this. I could help get you started. ;-) With a little patience and know-how, you can make almost anything really, really fast. I'm actually about to do some serious un-holiness to a 1:12 scale New Bright RC car... just because.
Also, to keep the drag race fair, both trucks should be running the same batteries. It's not unusual for guys to pick up several mph from moving to more capable cells. This step will just make sure you have a level playing field.
I have a 15yrs mamba monster converted Hotbodies truggy with 15yrs 5s lipo and its really faster with 90kph top speed.I love this beast but not with this setting .100 kph is a must for this baby. Its exactly what I was looking for but (Unfortunately) living in IRAN means getting everything double price so I am thinking about my new 2k$ order! Please test and video this with lower gear ratio setting,Thanks in advance!
The tech videos say you can increase top speed by changing the motor advance. Stock setting is 0. It can be adjusted up to 15 degrees. Can you guys test that?

I don't know anybody online or otherwise that can afford to buy those smart batteries because they are so expensive.. lipos are already very expensive even 3 and 4s let alone 6 to 8s are astronomical 😊 Good Vid.. I would have to choose the XMAXX if I had to choose between them..
The SMART batteries only cost a few more dollars (not comparing to cheap junk "China" batteries) and the features that are included are just AMAZING! At least for me, the SMART batteries WILL pay for themselves in the long run simply from the self-storage charge feature alone.

A little less snarky reply explaining how you got one early and still had to pay for it would have been interesting to know. We don't know how you get pre-release RC, where you get them from and in many cases if TH-camrs pay or not. It seems that some were given the car.
I see that you addressed this somewhat in your unboxing video. I'd already seen a few unboxings the day it came out and passed on watching others after. I've watched most of the running videos, though.
Enrico Hobbs I don’t think they know how to do anything other than put batteries in it. They never install the optional pinions, I don’t think they know how to. Their 6s Kraton has no reverse because they don’t know how to calibrate the esc.
OmG ItS sO sLoW! Me: Face palms... Off road, it'll be perfect, it's not much slower then the 1/8th Kraton and I kept the slower pinion on it because off road it was perfect! Also the bigger it is, the slower it'll look.

Same here visualy it looks slow. "Visualy" my Erevo 2.0 feels a lot faster. But hey who am I to judge I do not even have this KRATON 8s :D

I wonder what they base the "1/5 scale" on? If that truck is 1/5 scale the original is a SMART car. Size wise it's closer to 1/8 scale.

I like the size of the 8S but i think the 6S offers the best all around compromise for speed and size. I am happy with my Arrma Kraton 6S!

lee82ist It’s not under powered, it’s under geared. I get 65mph with 25 tooth pinion and motor timing turned up.

64kph kraton 8s.. Not bad for a 24-pound truck on a stock off-road pinion. Xmaxx is 70kph. But if u attach the speed pinion on the kraton 8s, u could reach the advertised 88kph speed written on the box

You guys need to be careful. You are getting dangerously close to catching the Speed Run bug! I used to help organize Speed Run events in the Metro DC area where one of our regulars achieved ~100mph with a 1:5 scale FG that actually had around the same overall power as this the Kraton and XMaxx. It was a VERY different car, but there are people speed running large-scale vehicles like this. I could help get you started. ;-)
With a little patience and know-how, you can make almost anything really, really fast. I'm actually about to do some serious un-holiness to a 1:12 scale New Bright RC car... just because.
Also, to keep the drag race fair, both trucks should be running the same batteries. It's not unusual for guys to pick up several mph from moving to more capable cells. This step will just make sure you have a level playing field.

I have a 15yrs mamba monster converted Hotbodies truggy with 15yrs 5s lipo and its really faster with 90kph top speed.I love this beast but not with this setting .100 kph is a must for this baby. Its exactly what I was looking for but (Unfortunately) living in IRAN means getting everything double price so I am thinking about my new 2k$ order!

The tech videos say you can increase top speed by changing the motor advance. Stock setting is 0. It can be adjusted up to 15 degrees. Can you guys test that?
Troy Bolton They can’t do anything but put batteries in it. Adjusting the esc or installing the optional pinion is out of their comfort zone
After three years how do you feel about the machine? Longevity? Still worth the investment in 2023?

I don't know anybody online or otherwise that can afford to buy those smart batteries because they are so expensive.. lipos are already very expensive even 3 and 4s let alone 6 to 8s are astronomical 😊 Good Vid..
I would have to choose the XMAXX if I had to choose between them..
The SMART batteries only cost a few more dollars (not comparing to cheap junk "China" batteries) and the features that are included are just AMAZING! At least for me, the SMART batteries WILL pay for themselves in the long run simply from the self-storage charge feature alone.

A little less snarky reply explaining how you got one early and still had to pay for it would have been interesting to know. We don't know how you get pre-release RC, where you get them from and in many cases if TH-camrs pay or not. It seems that some were given the car.

Enrico Hobbs I don’t think they know how to do anything other than put batteries in it. They never install the optional pinions, I don’t think they know how to. Their 6s Kraton has no reverse because they don’t know how to calibrate the esc.

Off road, it'll be perfect, it's not much slower then the 1/8th Kraton and I kept the slower pinion on it because off road it was perfect! Also the bigger it is, the slower it'll look.
