    • @HiPlains1
      @HiPlains1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Taco may have better looking dash but the seats are not as comfortable. Belt line is much higher and harder to see whats in front when offloading. The taco's 3.5 / six speed has improved but still not as good as the older VQ 40 5 speed. Its still a harder shifting, early shifting, gear searching mess. Yes they have improved it some, but there is only so much one can do with that crappy active learning trans. Now Toyota will have to finally update that shit drivetrain because the GTR inspired 3.8 direct injected with 9 speed is going to make the toyota offering even less inspiring. About the only thing that can save the taco is if they would finally put the D4D overseas diesel in it. But that will never happen. The 2020 may not cause much concern for the taco but once the fully updated 21 comes out it will cause allot of pain for toyota. Talked to some who have seen it. Supposed to have a very aggressive look. NIssan is doing a good job keeping any leaks coming out. Even better then Apple.

    I bought, brand new, a 2016 Frontier and it meets my needs perfectly. I don't need fancy this and that stuff that I wonder about the necessity of, anyway. I'm glad to see that they're putting more speeds in the transmission. This is arguably one of the complaints I have about my truck. Hopefully, they've also put more low-end torque in the tune because the 5-speed mine has, coupled with the stubborn gear change tuning is NOT a good recipe for an engine that wakes up around 3000 rpm. It would have been nice to see them keep the 4.0L mill and increase the torque all the way across the entire range. All told, I'm happy with my truck and I expect to get around 200k trouble-free miles out of it.

      @@eminye1 The old engine and transmission from 2005-2019 predates all the bad decisions Nissan has made over the last handful of years. The Frontier may be a bare bones truck that isn't really that fun to drive... But they'll be far more reliable than most of the other vehicles in Nissan's lineup.

    As much as I love my 2015 Buick with its fancy buttons and whatnot, I absolutely agree that part of me misses the "Y2K - era" vehicle styling and simplified build. This review is really getting me wondering about this truck in particular, as it would be so much less maintenance in general with the hard plastic everywhere and the smaller screen. In my eyes, as one that doesn't have to tote around kids or passengers in general, low maintenance is a big seller.

    Don’t know about this one. But, in November,2021, I traded for a Frontier sv with just over 12,000 miles, floor mats with the factory wrap, and a very right and tight driving pickup. I hated to pay out that much money, $16k , was a very lot of money for me, on a fixed income to buy. I bought some accessories to upgrade the seat covers, some bling idea things, and it’s a great pickup. Rides great, pulls great, looks great.

    This is the perfect truck to buy for a teenager or for a fleet. The platform is tested and tough, the new engine and trans gives it the power it has needed. If I owned a business that needed 4x4 trucks, I would buy these because there are plenty of parts out there and aftermarket parts.
    Last I checked the Frontier has a standard limited slip rear diff, and the Pro-4 X has a locker for off-road. The Nissan will go anywhere the Tacoma will go for a lot less money. If you want a great truck, this should be on the list until the new more expensive model comes out.
