Im a soldier from Somaliland fighting for my country. This video was sent to me by a friend in the midst of heavy trench warfare. The charismatic expression of the man made me watch it at full volume under heavy gunfire and miraculously the fighting ceased slowly until the only sound resonating over battlefield was this song. Everybody came out of their trenches dancing and singing along. We were laughing and hugging each other while this video was playing in the background. I showed an enemy soldier a picture of my wife and child. For exactly a minute and 51 seconds there was no war in Somaliland. After the video ended we all hugged, shook each others hands and crawled back into the trenches. I just wanted to say thank you!

This new Bladee song is so good. It seems to use an a-rythmic beat for the first half of the song while bladee attempts to rap over the impossible rhythm. Then slowly the song transitions to the beat becoming more regularly synced as Bladee's vocals become in line with the rhythm. It creates a dissonance and a crazy pay off. That isn't even to mention the melodic structures in the song or bladees lyrics

When they come in together, it tricks the listener into thinking there is a more standard rhythm but it’s the juxtaposition of the second half with the very minimal first half that does the work. It’s absolutely bonkers that WA comes up with this stuff. It’s pretty minimal all things considered: one crazy trance loop, the 808 shuffle, a skittering hat in the first half then synced hats in the second, and a lot of fx. Bladee is the gluee that holds it together.
