Interesting I like how this guy manages to fit these kinds of thing into the secret lore of minecraft

The gap in the front of that fossil could be a nasal cavity and since the sniffer has a very sensitive nose it could possibly be correct lore

The part about putting the eggs on their back: that could be why if you put an egg on a moss block it hatches faster, because it's parent would put it on their moss-covered back and the feeling that they need to hatch faster because they're on the move.

I think Sniffers had the "Capybara effect" they were simply vibin' so they no one messed with them, Or maybe they thought since they were brightly coloured they were poisonous, But in the end it was their downfall as since sniffers were so friendly players could easily hunt them.
