“Designed by the French in partnership with the British”? No, Concorde was an Anglo-French aircraft from the beginning, coming about when two pre-existing concepts in *both* countries were combined.
@Tom's Ghost It’s a common misconception that Concorde (partly because of the name, which was originally going to be Concord & then the British government agreed to spell it the French way because it looked a bit more “exotic”) was a French plane the the UK was “somehow” involved in too, it was literally a fusion of two separate designs that probably would’ve both worked independently, but were too expensive for either country to practically develop; not France throwing the UK a bone (or vice-versa).
The USSR Concordski was never able to fly into western airspace as it was a flying coffin. Besides breaking up in mid air when displayed, it required such an extensive pre flight survey it couldn't make scheduled flights. It was so noisy notepaper was used. More evidence socialism is admired.
While still denied by Concordski fans, there were indeed plans, deliberately faulty, created by the British and passed to the French for the Russians to steal. They obligingly did. They never were able to get the ogoid wing design right in time, so ended up with the less efficient double delta. While technically the Tu-144 flew first, by 4 months, the production aircraft were a massive redesign which bore little resemblance in many respects to the prototype.
