Uncle Dave and the AEW audience are so deep into it that they know everything about every wrestler and are fans of their in ring work, so the storylines aren't important to them. It's an extension of the culture surrounding the tape traders like Uncle Dave and Tony Khan. They grew up watching matches without knowing the back story that led up to the matches they were watching. All they had were the matches, so that is their focus.

What exactly is the big deal about any of this? Why is there even a discussion, let alone multiple per week for months/years now?
I feel like Tony incites a lot of this because he always wants to present himself as in this war and that wrestling is this super growing medium. If he just accepted he runs a product that is not likely to be the most popular thing, a lot more people would respect him. So what if he has haters? If he's doing well enough to keep it alive (however it is doing so) be happy with yourself. But no he always craves that affirmation that what he likes is really the best and he's going to win. A lot of the internet are those type of people. You have jerks who always want to be right all the time. They just keep making the same stupid mistakes over and over, and the show is really a chore to watch. Not worth the time. Not worth the time.
This whole thing is beginning to feel like a psy-op. People have liked certain things and not liked others since the dawn of humanity. A lot of domestic fans don't care for AEW's presentation so the ratings and attendance numbers bear that out, but it does have a niche, cult-like fan base.
But then you have the people with zero self-esteem who still dream of being the popular cool kid. When these two meet you get a very annoying place to be at. They can never just like what they like and tell anyone else to f off, they gotta bully everyone who doesn't affirm their opinion into submission.
@TheOldMPClub This is easily the most succinct, well-thought out, level-headed, and concise explanation/response ever. And I don't just mean on this AEW topic (though that too), but just in any youtube comments section in general. This single-handedly restored my faith not only in the potential of the wrestling fandom, that SOMEONE out there sees and identified this phenomenon on a psychological level (and is able to articulate it better than I could), but also just that anyone can be this level-headed AND still be willing to offer a public comment in such a setting, knowing the risk of enduring the fatiguing blowback from the mouth-breathers. KUDOS to you - my appreciation for this is very, very real. Cheers
Aew runs like the democratic party.
Speak for yourself Disco..... I desperately want aew to die I don't care who loses their jobs because if you're good enough at what you do somebody will hire you of substance.
If you're concerned about getting your boys overpaid for some carney nonsense.... Then you are part of the problem as well.
This is the rich kid in the neighborhood that has no friends but as soon as he starts handing out 20s everybody wants to be his friend.
