This has been one of the most exciting WC so far.
    1. Variety of pitches and conditions, supporting seamers, spinners, batsmen with mental toughness, and not just super flat 250+ roads.
    2. Incredible upsets and many near upsets.
    3. Real chance of an associate nations, US and Scotland, qualifying while full members like Pakistan, England, NZ, SL, and Ireland failing to qualify.
    4. Associate nations having competitive games against full members even when losing.

This was always going to be the problem with having groups of 5.
The FIFA World Cup fell into this problem a few years ago with sides knowing what results would work out best for them, (and maybe sides they wanted to “help”👀), in the long run. As such now all final group games are played at the same time.
Bringing 20 sizes into the T20 World Cup was an awesome idea, but it should have been five groups of four, not four groups of five.
Speaking as an England fan, it looks like the Aussies might have to do us a favour so I just hope they play as hard as I know they are capable of.

Ok, had to do a little digging on the 1999 world cup. Nasser's being a bit humble but he isnt too far off actually, sorry. While it's your heavy defeats against SA and India that have cost you more, but knowing that you got defeated heavily against SA (bundled out to 103 chasing 226), looks like you'all could have done a bit better chasing in the next game against Zimbabwe. While you included Thorpe, he's actually managed to finish with a decent strike rate of 78 whereas you've finished not-out scoring 57 off 93 balls, with a strike rate of 61! I am just curious, so back then there were no conversations at all about NRR while playing the league games? 3 out of 6 teams have got the same number of points in the group and you've crashed out coz of NRR.

At this point I think we would all chop our right bollock off to have Stokes available, but as it is, Duckett needs to come into the top 4, probably for Bairstow. I'd also be tempted to get Curran in for Jordan - can still wack it down the order, very solid fielder and a left arm option. We had way too many right handers against Aus in both batting and bowling which meant they could target the short boundary and we struggled to attack and defend it. We need a lot to go right for us to get through to the next stage. We need to win both tosses, bowl Namibia and Oman out very cheaply and then knock the runs off in double quick time, all whilst hoping Aussie either batter Scotland or it gets rained off. Hence the doom and gloom 😄

    • @Nimit-im3bk
      @Nimit-im3bk หลายเดือนก่อน

First England got to beat Oman and Namibia. Oman will lose to them, yes but Namibia is not someone you can just brush away. They have got 2-3 players, who on their day can win you a game single handedly. Of course, as a team England are far far superior, but imagine Rubel Trumpelmann just producing 2 great inswingers in the first over of the match or David Wiese coming and tonking a 30 of 10 balls. Conditions in WI and USA wouldn't have suited england style of play and its evident in the way they have played so far they ve depth in batting but their bowling lacks specialists
England batsman mostly struggle on slow and gripping surfaces and even their bowlers struggle to adjust to the conditions.
Even if any of the matches gets washed out england ll out of the tournament, the only thing that is within england control is to win remaining matches one sided which ll help in improving the run rate.

Livingston is a overrated batter . He plays just becoz he can bowl leg and off spin .
    And bairstow at 4 ?
Should need to play sam curran instead of bairstow or Livingston.
He gives the left hander in middle and bowl with the new ball and gives the balance with both bat & ball...

I have a question ... When we divide teams into small groups like in 2007 ODI wc and now in 4 unnecessary groups and tiny groups...and something like rain washed games England had to exit the Tournament coz their chances are reduced now . Do you think is it really necessary to create such tiny Groups..? What purpose does it serves ..??? Not only England ...but also New Zealand Pakistan now has slim chances to get to next level ...and does it make way for Sub Par experience in terms of Quality World cup or something interesting ..?

how else you can fit in 20 teams? do you want 10 teams in group A and B. that is 9 games for every team . this is how played if you have many teams. Look at soccer groups. this is better than 4 teams per group which was played in 2007 world cup.

England are playing appaling cricket for quite some time now in limited overs format and in all probability they'll get knocked out in group stage here.
But as an Indian, I'll just tell one thing to the English fans. Criticize your team as much as you want, but remember -
England have played last 10 years of below average, disgraceful cricket with just 3 years of glory juxtaposed in between.
But if that 3 year period can win you 2 cups, it's any day better than 10 years of consistent top level cricket without anything to show.
Our pain is far greater, friends, so don't be sad😌😌😌
