Awesome! I just upgraded to the Mariner 4, had a 3. Have a newport vessels 55 lb trolling motor and 55 amp mighty max battery and another battery even more powerful, solar panels, two 8inch speakers, the awning. I like the floor idea and now I'm getting a fish finder. Once I get my floors in with carpet I'm going to install two swivel seats and a table in the middle to play cards or watch TV, cook, whatever. Awesome modifications and thank you for the ideas!
ELE MAGS Thanks. I’m planning to post several more where I go over each mod separately and in more detail. You’ll prob like the info if you like this one. Subscribe and follow our Instagram @hobitknobbin for other cool ideas and projects. Also check out my video on a pvc trailer I designed for the Mariner 4. It’s pretty awesome, if I say so myself. Thanks for watching.

Fantastic video! Great job! How’s the boat holding up? Anything you’d change after the few years of use? I just bought one and hoping I can fit me, my wife and 2 grandkids.
I've always fancied a Mariner 4 because the are relatively long but unfortunately there's no way of attaching fold away wheels on the transom and handle on the front for easier maneuverability.
I believe it is 19in long, 14in high, and 14in wide, approximately. Basically, the top is even with the sides of the boat and the length is about half an inch inside the inner walls. I didn’t want it to rub the inside walls too much. You could make it as wide as you wanted, really. Just depends on preference
The material is pvc, would be more expensive if it were hypalon. I purchased my mariner 4 in march, just unboxed it lol. Was bummed it wasn't the red n black like yours but that may not be a bad thing since it's the new model. The oar holders look upgraded and may work with the bimini top I just ordered. Cheers
Good luck! It’s been an awesome investment. And the manual on mine says material is hypalon. Maybe I got lucky and purchased when it was first offered at a lower price or maybe a different model or something? Either way, have enjoyed the heck out of it and it’s worth every penny.
Do you know the dimensions of the floor? I plan on getting some wood to make floors and use marine carpet. Wondering if you just use the plastic floor as a template, or if you had to take a little more off for when you apply the marine carpet? I've had a mariner 3 raft and now a 4 but had issues with the one I had sending it back because the seam was leaking.
Where did you buy the fabric? Fabric or carpet? How thick it is? I went to Home Depot just found a similar carpet but I think it's a little bit thick . Thanks
It’s indoor/outdoor carpet from Home Depot. It’s about 1.50/2$ per foot. The roll is 10ft wide and they charge you by the foot. I bought about 30ft. It’s about 1/8in thick.
@@hobitknobbin7827 I am wondering what your thoughts are on using the pvc floor below the plywood floor you made? I see the cushion boards you use and I've just finished my 1/2 plywood 2 piece floor wrapped in carpet and wondering if you think it be ok using it along with the pvc floor. Thanks 😊
I think that would be fine but it may raise the height of your floor to a point where it causes unnecessary friction on the interior sides. The thing I didn’t like about the pvc floor was that some of those boards were rough on the edges and there wasn’t anything on the ends to keep them from sliding out. I just thought it could potentially cause more problems. I chose to go with the foam under the plywood for that reason. It helps with sound and gave me some piece of mind about possible damage to the boat from the plywood.
That's awesome thanks for the suggestions, I placed strips of duct tape at the end of each pvc flooring section to help with keeping them in :) that’s an idea but I'll report back with how it does out on the lake this weekend with both floors in and inspect for any extra wear on the side walls.
I know you made this over a year ago however, I’m just watching it and want to give my 2 cents. This was hard to watch. The length is quite long and I (admittedly) skipped ahead many times. Most of the problem is you stumbling and trying to find the words you’re wanting to use and constantly saying “umm”. Thank you for sharing your mods but maybe try to speak a little faster and with fewer brain farts. Haha!
How not to shoot a vid..... Don't fill the screen..... Just use a small part of the screen by stupidly shooting vertical..... I guess he's not Spielberg. Thumbs going down.
@@hobitknobbin7827 don't bother with the sandy vaginer people. Excellent information and work on that boat. I'm trying to get my hands on the Mariner 4 currently instead of the Mariner 3 (Mariner 3' is available, but I want the Mariner 4 for the additional size).

Too many rude people in the comments. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it

Hey there, great vid! What are the dimensions of your center box?
I believe it is 19in long, 14in high, and 14in wide, approximately. Basically, the top is even with the sides of the boat and the length is about half an inch inside the inner walls. I didn’t want it to rub the inside walls too much. You could make it as wide as you wanted, really. Just depends on preference
Do you have dimensions of the front box, or better yet detail of how to make it. I am a terrible handyman

When you do the floor your Making it wider then the original floor or smaller
Thanks; I made the floor about an inch smaller on all sides to reduce the stress on the seams of the floor.
Is the plywood 1/2” or 3/4” thick?
1/2 but 3/4 would probably work fine

Had to fast-forward through 80% of of this video as it is WAY, WAY too much chitchat

Fair enough. One of the vids I ever made so admit it isn’t the best.

Thanks. First vid and haven’t gotten around to reshooting. But appreciate your feedback.
