Ah yes it means either the fuel system mainly the injector or the glow plug has an issue. Mostly if there's jerking, injector is the one. Could just scan the ecm for fault codes.
Haven't scanned yet but I'm planning to do so soon. But injectors were once removed and nozzle holes of all injectors were open as the only test done on injectors was to open them 😢and check for nozzles blockage And all nozzles holes were free
Thanks for great video and explanation-had a fiesta with really rough running engine light on crawling at 2mph - did exactly what you did found mine didn’t have a remove plastic circle mine was metal sleeve that couldn’t be removed but could be turned , the valve was sooted up and solid- so penetrating fluid and patience got it free again and refitted customer now very happy - cheers

Hi there, this is an electronic type valve and does not have a diaphragm. But the old tdci engines came with a diaphragm type valve with a control Solenoid. To check that need a dismantle and should check with a suction pump and create a vacuum. Look if it stays or has no response. Now if you are asking about the newer tdci engines with a vacuum bypass valve(small black thing with an arm of like 3 inches). Ask some one to keep an eye on the arm when the car is started. When cold started, the arm should move in completely. if it does nothin, check the vacuum hose for leaks.if no leaks and gets a strong suction from pipe,the diaphram is damaged.
@@dailyhandsdiy Nope same one as yours, but cheers for quick respons and info on other types very helpful, My ford fiesta sport 1.4 tdci 2008 5 door hatch, driving at 60mph, started to judder,the more gas i gave it, the more it would jult and slow down. So I dropped the gear give more gas and it just kept pulling back untill going about 10mph,went into limp mode, injector 3 on rail came up on the scanner, injector three compleately blocked,removed all injectors removed the bottoms` cleaned and torque them all back up, also return fule line was blocked, The car had been juddering off and on over the months but could go into limp mode if I started on a hill sometimes if i gave it to much gas,, so cleaned injectors as described up above they are siemens vdo dont know if they are the siemens piezo type, cleaned EGR cleaned MAF new air filter, new return fuel line from injectors, Might replace fuel filter don`t know yet, Ive reamed the ports of the injectors and new washers, I tested ohms and earth on injectors but can`t do a intermitten test on them, Tested glow plugs they are all good, My question is befor I put it all back together do you think the injector was the issue or EGR or some think else, Ps I aint a machanic ime just a give it a go I can`t understand my scanner correctly all i can do is wipe off codes,
Should check the sensor part in the injector, if its 1.4 then surely its piezo. If the code reads short open or short closed on any injector, its a actuator fault, power gets lowerd and rpm restricted to 1500 and 2000 at no loads. Should clear the injector part first.
@@dailyhandsdiy The injector has a leak off connection opposite the inlet fuel line , the top of the injector `the black part is smooth, its shaped like a ducks head with pins hidden in the beak part,lol,no hole at top, all i know is it just says siemens vdo,on the side,everything else on top of the black part has rubbed away., How can I check the sensor part,what do you mean I only have a muiltimeter and a victor 60D? Do you mean if the injector was left stuck open or stuck closed then something in the injector called the actuator is playing up or the way the injector works there`s something wrong it can`t actuate lol,or the injector comen rail somthing wrong sending the signal to injector' Don`t forget I aint a machanic, I do know if its a piezo then pressure reacts the piezo`s by squeezing them ,Then that causes a voltage then that voltage rapidly send message back to ecu in milli secons and while this goes on the needle part lifts up due to fuel pressure ,Well some thing like that HA. when the car come to a halt I cleared codes then taken negative lead off 10 minutes after connected negative lead back; drove for 20minutes at 30,40 mph got me back home, Next day drove to pick daughter 10 minutes down road and it went to limp mode,taken negative lead off ,then placed back on` drove for 1 minute back to limp mode ,carried on driving for 10 seconds` then other symble poped up saying warning sign something like engine managment ,i pulled over car would not move,so I rigged up the code thing got rid of codes ,but engine synbles came back up, next day brake down service came turned engine over ,engine shaking he said injector must be not working,turned enging off got his car ramp device out got back in my car and turned engine on and engine sounded fine, he got his phone scanner thing and said theres no codes to read, so i said just get it up on your ramp and take it home ,
Haha some correct some wrong. Piezo injectors are much complex in operatn,it sends the signal according to our power demands to injector peizo ceramic inside which expands n hits the injection head which activates n pulls back the nozzle needle causing injection. Now a small change in feedback or a problem with peizo crystal can male this fault. Need an insulation tester set to 60v or 100v and check the resistance btwn the injector connector pins. should be btwen 198kohms to 205 kohms. Also the capasitance btwn the pins should be abv 3mf. its a good idea to get the 3rd injector serviced.
Hi bro my car is ford figo 2014 1.4 tdci model when i checked the turbo to intake manifold hose there is a slight oil leak but the turbo shaft play is normal and vehicle acceleration is also quicker but there is a black smoke not too much after 3500 rpm on first gear and third gear driving
I have a 2008 Fusion 1.4tdci. Will start and tick over fine but as soon as i drop the clutch and put load on the engine just cuts out. If i was just to drop the clutch at Idle the car will drive and would drive all day. I can hold the revs at 1500 but as soon as I put accelerator down the engine cuts out. I have replaced the fuel filter, changed the priming ball and fuel pipes, cleaned the tank and sender unit (all OK) even tried different diesel from a different garage just in case but still the same. Do you think the EGR would be causing this problem. As a side note injector 2 and 3 were also replaced 2 1st and then 3 went straight after 2, car is definitely running on all 4. MAF was also cleaned.

Hi Bro, I went to the mechanic and cleaned the EGR. Even after cleaning EGR there's black smoke. The car feels sluggish when AC is on. Once the turbo kicks in, it accelerates fine. I've tried cleaning the MAF Sensor too, is the black smoke due to MAF or its the already deposited soot in Exhaust coming out ?
I would also suggest going on a trip long and driving the car fast for a long period at around 3.5k Rpm so any soot build up would burn away from the catalytic convector and other parts of exhausts ofc please do it safely and in 5 gear on a long stretch of highway driving around in city bumper o bumper traffic can do this to your car you will feel a lot of black smoke come out but after a few seconds it will stop but keep going till it stops and Ofc the car should be properly warmed before you perform this and should have new oil changed recently for minimal damage bigger engines have regenerating cycles which do the same thing the settings are called DPF regeneration.

Fan noice normal. Does it make... Some thing like tak tak while acceleting. And does it smoke unusually, white or black smoke? . Hows is the behaviour while idling?
We are having problem with our customer's fiesta (same 1.4), engine stalls while running sometime. Dtc shows p1412, I'm just thinking that if egr get stuck can engine stall...?
Hey, how much much would it cost to get the egr valve cleaned by a professional? I'm thinking about doing the job myself but I'm afraid I might just ruin it all.
There's nothin to get ruined,just the bolts carefully not breaking them. From a mechanic it cost around 3 hrs or more hours of labour chrge depending where you live. Mostly btwn 1.5k to 3k inr

Im not sure if ford clean maf but will do the egr for sure. If you have a skilled outside mechanic, obviously outside is best. Its actually done as a preventive measure.

Thanks bro...yes you may ask to scan the codes any numbr of times you want. Infact after cleaning maf n egr,whole system is scanned for problems so no wrys.
Hi there bro, you need a basic 46 piece half inch tool set for basic needs. For figo, need a 21mm wrench for oip drain and 27 mm socket and an extension for oil filter cover.
Bro there's no pcv valve in ford tdci engines. pressure at crank case is kept negative using turbo's suction. you can see a small pipe jst b4 the turbo inlet going from main inlet hose to cv filter on the top of engine.

I see oil accumulation on the small pipe (not near the turbo) but on the other side of the small pipe and the oil is being sucked all the way near to turbo. Dont have to worry bro. Jst put a hose clamp or cable tie. during hot performance that small pipe expands due to heat and oil vapour from pcv filter leaks out through that pipe inserting area. thats y oil stains seen there. using clamp will seal the loose hose properly.

Hi, i have a code P0490 on my car mazda 2 1.4tdi 2008, cleaned egr valve and cooler, but still then pushing full accelerator car starts jerking, vacuum hoses checked all good. Any suggestions where could be a problem? I would be very appreciate for your answer
Yes thats normal, unlike ball n roller bearing, turbo uses journal bearings. They need a small gap so the oil gets filled there while operating, which keeps the shaft and bearing seperated when spinning.
@@dailyhandsdiy Just as I thought, thank you so much. One more query, my car is a Figo 1.5 TDCI 69k run 2018, new oil, filter everything, which I do myself. Off late, I see white smoke during morning starts for a few minutes then subsides once the engine heats. Once warmed up, no black smoke even if I redline. Oil level is fine, coolant level is fine, no discoloration of coolant. Just morning few puffs of white smoke with the usual diesel-ey eye burning smell, and then normalizes. Glow plugs seems to be fine, any thoughts, please?
Have you got any check on EGR...? This can happen if the egr is partially stuck open or not closing properly. i have a video on 1.5 to check egr... could use that to find if the egr is sticking or partially stuck open...

A bit of oil is normal as its from pcv system... there will be oil, cant eliminate that. ford does smoke after 2.5k rpm...its gives out hell of smoke. Dont worry...if there's not much oil consumption and fuel economy is good..then its ok.
Sir please suggest on 1issue..my Figo diesel is done 50k kms n when running in 2 or 3 gear in slow rpm without ac at around 900-1000 rpm if I press accelerator slightly then car jerks unless rpm increases n turbo kicks in..this occurs more in cold engine n with heat issue is less..with ac the rpm already gets increased so on pressing accelerator the issue doesn't occur.. overall pick up is excellent.. cleaned MAS sensor but no benefit..air filter already new..diesel filter drained for any water n will change shortly but pick up is good to diesel filter Shud be good..
Thats normal borther. U see present day cars, engine load calculations are used for fuel injection. At lower rpm and slight acceleration, engine load will be at peak. So it injects fuel in its full Capacity. but the work done on the pistons will be less as oxygen in cylinder will be less. So it struggles to maintain the load. As rpm goes high the load on engine drops significantly. And when turbo kiks in we get a full potential combustion work on piston. So the engine will suffer less load. Thats why vibrates on low rpms and smoth at higher rpm.

Egr have seen is a long 4-5 inch pipe with holes in it..btw today I was able to change stabilizer link rod in my Figo referring ur video which was creating noise over bumps..got at 450 rs from local shop.. i had to use ring spanner and Allen key both to open the nut..thanks
There are many reasons for it borther, in short, in cold condition, clearance on cylinder parts will be high so air escapes easly which is known as blow by gas. So a complete compression of air will not happen thus lower the combustion efficiency, this put a lot more stress on engine. At as it heats up, components inside expands and clearances will reduce which increase compression and thus proper combustion. There are other reasons like oil and its viscosity, flow rate, sensor functions. Injection timing etc.. Al these are affected by temperature.

Does egr causes in not moving vehicle after accelerating and also a lot smoke is coming out. But vehicle is moving slightly after accelerates but not possible to drive like that. Pls Rply
I own ford figo 2012 . Already I asked some other issue and you told me solution. Still I have another issue with my car . When I press acceleration in 1st gear car start jerking and not able to Move forward at up hill in second gear . In idle when I press acceleration for two to three times (revving) rpm start dancing and engine will turn off automatically. When I press break on High speed by pressing clutch car will stall. Is these are caused by egr valve?
Usually this is more like an air intake matering problem i guess. Ever cleaned the maf sensor or checked the air filter? And rarely non functional egr does exhibit problems similar to the said ones.
Hey pal, I’ve just had a power train light on and the car went into limp mode. Eventually I started it and it didn’t go into limp mode but was still a bit jerky. I’m wondering if a open EGR would cause this or as my theory is that a sensor has got wet and it’s poured down today and I went through some pretty big puddles. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey, thanks for the video, very useful. However I had a bad EGR a few weeks ago (had EML on permanently) . Bought a second hand EGR and fitted it; light went out. However a few weeks later the car judders now and then and idles rough. Do you think it’s the EGR or a MAF sensor? I’ve had no dash lights and I understand it’s hard for you to diagnose but just after some advice please? I’m thinking I’ll follow this video and clean the valve but I’d rather not haha. Thanks
Hi brother It could be dirty MAF. if maf does not perform well, it affect egr as well. Try cleaning MAF first and see if it resolves. I have a video of cleaning maf easily.

hii i cleaned the egr as you mentioned in the video...but after mantling i found a connector unplugged next to the egr connector...a yellow connector .,,its seen unplugged in your video too...wher to plug it/
One blu and one green ryt. The blue one goes to connector behind the fuel filter and the green goes below the filter. There are two sensors in fuel filter. One one back one on bottom.

I have ford figo 1.4 diesel .in morning start the car too much vibrate and after 2 km 3 km driving the run smooth. The dtc code show. P0360 & P0370. i change maf sensor also.i remove the egr plug because of faulty egr.
According to the dtc its an engine wiring fault or corrosion. Check the wiring to cam and crank shaft position sensors, check sensors for dust or oil spreading, check timing and crank shaft timing ring for damage.
In ford figo 1.4 diesel .Does the glow plug work in the morning or not?. Because the dtc code show in my car p0380.some problem with this cause in car.
Hi bro, I tried to clean sensor as you said while cleaning I observed that there is a oil leak from turbo shaft. After cleaning it there was no smoke for 20km and after 20kms smoke started again. One more big problem is my fiesta suddenly turns off while driving and not even starts if we give self start, it only starts when we push the car. If we drive on ac it will start immediately when it gets off suddenly. What will be the problem ?
I think there's engine heating issue bro. not sure Or and injector excessive leak off problem. or a bad fuel pressure sensor. Have you cleaned maf sensor? Oil inside turbo is normal, its the oil vapour from engine case sucked in by the turbo.
Ya bro. If the temperature reaches medium car will turn off when we stop somewhere light traffic signals or when we slow vehicle turnings and it will not start until we push or temperature reaches low
Of course bro, i doubt a failing injector or bad fuel rail pressures sensor. When engine becomes hot, clearnces on injector or pump gets high and fuel pressure will not reach threshold. I suggest to give a check at diesel and pump service station.

Hi bro, been watching ur videos...extremely useful advice. I have a Figo 1.4tdci and have been getting intermittent misfire or jerks and black smoke. Not sure if this could be the fuel pressure sensor or the rail. Thought it was fuel filter and replaced it but still doing the same. Recently discovered that the radiator fan is not coming on so not sure if the temp sensor can cause the car to have the intermittent misfire or jerk and black smoke. Diagnostics@ local ford dealership read as follows, Description: P0192 FRP sensor low input This DTC may be caused by: Pressure regulating valves or controls FRP sensor/wiring Fuel injector faults Wiring harness Chafe in the area of transmission. 2nd diagnostics read as follows (same day...2 diff diagnostics) Description P0194 Fuel rail pressure sensor intermittent This DTC may be caused by: Damaged or contaminated connector Faulty or damaged PCM Not sure what to go with as they've done diagnostics on the same day with differences in diagnostics
Hi there, do check the wiring first. Both on the regulator and sensor. Clean them both. From the diagnostics looks like the fault is from the FRP sensor side bcs of p0194. A fault in regulator does show p0192 but not p0194. A fault in FRP can cause the regulator to mis operate and throw p0192. And the radiator fan only turns on when the coolant temp hits 105 degrees. Do check if the fan works when AC is turned on. Do these first and check if the issue reoccurs.

I personally don't recommend bro. Because its believed decarbonising will remove the solid carbon inside the engine by superheating it while combustion using hO molecules or smthing. But its realy not suggested to introduce any kind of accelerators to increase the cylinder temp and blast away carbon inside. It puts too much stress on the pistons and can sometime result in piston and valve deforming or affect metallurgical properties. And also its not evident that it cleans manifolds as its said to work at power stroke inside the cylinder not out side. There wont be any initial problems but eventually some mechanical problems may pop up. And mechanical troubles can tear your pocket apart. None of the engine needs any decarbonising. Jst do the timely oil change, do a manual manifold clean up at each 60k-80k km.
Too much black smoke, too much white smoke on cold start whith strong pungent smell of diesel, Intermittent power loss, lack of pedal response, too much flat sound on heavy acceleration, turbo not kickin in, and last dtc....
Hey, in the space of a year I've had a nightmare with engine management light coming on and reducing power in my 2012 fiesta. When I get the car checked out it always comes up with an issue with the egr valve. I've had 3 egr valves fitted in the space of the year and each time I've been told there was nothing wrong with the previous valve. Luckily 2 different warrantys covered 2 of these fixes. However the issue still comes up with every egr valve I have had fitted. Any idea why I still get engine management light related to the valve, when there isn't a problem with the valve?
Yea, this could be a fault in ecm software. If the many egr does the same faulty thing, either its a fault in wiring or the ecm is not commanding it what to do but the feedback circuit is working, thats why u get an error code. Whats the error code its throwing?

If you mean oil leaks then yes, unlike petrol engine, diesel engine vibrates more. This will make the oil seal nd sealants to wear fast. But its rare in modern engine technology. its a 50 50 chance.

itz doesn't feel like fuse blown issue. Could be faulty relay which stops functioning at intervals. Also might be loose. or even loose drive train wiring harness. or could be a engine timing pickup problem by crank sensor. which also could be a wiring issue. So check each engine ignition related relays, wiring harness if loose or something and last crank sensor. Also check loose fuses too.
yup sure. be more specific on ignition relays. as while checking they might wrk great but they can loose its funtion intermittently. And alwys welcome. :D

Usually the knock in tdci engines comes from the injectors going bad. other reasons are timing errors, wrong fuel pressure...etc..pls make sure if its a diesel knock or cause of some other worn out parts.

First clean the maf sensor and check if it resolves second check if there's any vaccum leak on the turbo inlet pipe. 3rd could be an egr malfunction. Engine load and egr funtion, every thing is depended on maf sensor. So basic thing is to clean and check maf, vaccum leaks on pipes, and check air filter.

hello brother.hello. i have e60 525d 2004. in the city it drives good and normally but in autostrade afrer 30-40 minutes driving it get warm and start droping the gears. examples ( when it take 5th gear around 100-110 and you press the gass hard it make a noise and stop accelerating). the same with another gear if there is no required speed. and i got light transmission fault. i restart the car and drove manual so like that it work fine but always taking care to have right gear on right speed. please if know this problem tell me the solution thank you
hey mate, its common in bmw audi vw n skodas to have problems with transmission without proper service. If you have problem with every gear its likely to be the oil itself or the torque converter or the mechatronics. Its common to be the transmission valve body with worn out sleeves or orings causing oil pressure to drop. So a trans mechatronic service with proper replace of o rings n sleeves might cure your problem. Im saying from the common occurrence. A proper diagnosis should be done to find fault. And if its a TC issues, on citys load on the converter is less so might copup with the situations and when at highways or at highr gears load on the converter is high.if there's no proper oil pressure,it slips and cause similar issues. Also a non specified oil can cause this as well.

oh i don't recommend to mix oils if the previous one is not known. Its better to change as whole. These gearboxes are quite sensitive to specificed oil n pressure. If the previous one is to old,the new one can cause varying pressures n cause gear not engaging or shifting unnecessarily.

In cars with gas cooler, need a dismantle. but without cooler doesn't matter. the nxt day u clean the pipe all tat carbon and oil be back there. By the way bro, this is to check sticking egr valve. even if theres no clogs, soot gets into spindle gaps and makes spindle difficult to move. in tat case this is usefull. a simple way to check egr.
No bro. they'l never clean it before 1 lakh km i guess or when a problem pops up. Better do it right now. and also do a proper oil change, do all the engine sensors. Your car il be fine.

Kind of... first one is from egr, so need an egr clean up. Second one is for cam/crank shaft sensor miscalculation which can be of bad timing or failing cam or crank sensor( need attention), third can be bcs of battery discharging fast or battery going bad.

I cleaned the egr valve at ford service centre but after cleaning the car is jerking and stopping. I am getting p1335( EGR Position Sensor Minimum Stop Performance). They are asking to replace with new egr valve costing Rs 21000. I have a Ford Figo 1.4 petrol 2010 model. Recently it has been releasing smoke from the engine like its from the plugs. Now it is refusing to starts i have to keep on trying until it starts well. I have changed NGK plugs twice now. What maybe the problem?
looks like piston rings have worn. Changing spark plugs won't cure it. Have to do a compression test on each cylinders. Its buring oil tats why its emitting smoke.

If starts fine in the morning and no issues with startup, you might not need an engine ovrhul. Jst check athe above mentioned things and see if it cures. Clean maf n map sensor first. And see.

Ah yes it means either the fuel system mainly the injector or the glow plug has an issue. Mostly if there's jerking, injector is the one. Could just scan the ecm for fault codes.
Haven't scanned yet but I'm planning to do so soon. But injectors were once removed and nozzle holes of all injectors were open as the only test done on injectors was to open them 😢and check for nozzles blockage
And all nozzles holes were free
Its not the nozzle holes, its the injector actuator or could be the fuel pressure regulator..

Hi there, this is an electronic type valve and does not have a diaphragm. But the old tdci engines came with a diaphragm type valve with a control Solenoid. To check that need a dismantle and should check with a suction pump and create a vacuum. Look if it stays or has no response.
Now if you are asking about the newer tdci engines with a vacuum bypass valve(small black thing with an arm of like 3 inches). Ask some one to keep an eye on the arm when the car is started. When cold started, the arm should move in completely. if it does nothin, check the vacuum hose for leaks.if no leaks and gets a strong suction from pipe,the diaphram is damaged.

My ford fiesta sport 1.4 tdci 2008 5 door hatch, driving at 60mph,
started to judder,the more gas i gave it, the more it would jult and slow down.
So I dropped the gear give more gas and it just kept pulling back untill going about 10mph,went into limp mode,
injector 3 on rail came up on the scanner,
injector three compleately blocked,removed all injectors removed the bottoms` cleaned and torque them all back up, also return fule line was blocked,
The car had been juddering off and on over the months but could go into limp mode if I started on a hill sometimes if i gave it to much gas,,
so cleaned injectors as described up above they are siemens vdo dont know if they are the siemens piezo type,
cleaned EGR cleaned MAF new air filter, new return fuel line from injectors,
Might replace fuel filter don`t know yet,
Ive reamed the ports of the injectors and new washers, I tested ohms and earth on injectors but can`t do a intermitten test on them,
Tested glow plugs they are all good,
My question is befor I put it all back together do you think the injector was the issue or EGR or some think else,
Ps I aint a machanic ime just a give it a go I can`t understand my scanner correctly all i can do is wipe off codes,
Should check the sensor part in the injector, if its 1.4 then surely its piezo. If the code reads short open or short closed on any injector, its a actuator fault, power gets lowerd and rpm restricted to 1500 and 2000 at no loads. Should clear the injector part first.

when the car come to a halt I cleared codes then taken negative lead off 10 minutes after connected negative lead back; drove for 20minutes at 30,40 mph got me back home,
Next day drove to pick daughter 10 minutes down road and it went to limp mode,taken negative lead off ,then placed back on` drove for 1 minute back to limp mode ,carried on driving for 10 seconds` then other symble poped up saying warning sign something like engine managment ,i pulled over car would not move,so I rigged up the code thing got rid of codes ,but engine synbles came back up,
next day brake down service came turned engine over ,engine shaking he said injector must be not working,turned enging off got his car ramp device out got back in my car and turned engine on and engine sounded fine,
he got his phone scanner thing and said theres no codes to read,
so i said just get it up on your ramp and take it home ,
Haha some correct some wrong. Piezo injectors are much complex in operatn,it sends the signal according to our power demands to injector peizo ceramic inside which expands n hits the injection head which activates n pulls back the nozzle needle causing injection. Now a small change in feedback or a problem with peizo crystal can male this fault. Need an insulation tester set to 60v or 100v and check the resistance btwn the injector connector pins. should be btwen 198kohms to 205 kohms. Also the capasitance btwn the pins should be abv 3mf. its a good idea to get the 3rd injector serviced.

I have a 2008 Fusion 1.4tdci. Will start and tick over fine but as soon as i drop the clutch and put load on the engine just cuts out. If i was just to drop the clutch at Idle the car will drive and would drive all day. I can hold the revs at 1500 but as soon as I put accelerator down the engine cuts out. I have replaced the fuel filter, changed the priming ball and fuel pipes, cleaned the tank and sender unit (all OK) even tried different diesel from a different garage just in case but still the same. Do you think the EGR would be causing this problem. As a side note injector 2 and 3 were also replaced 2 1st and then 3 went straight after 2, car is definitely running on all 4. MAF was also cleaned.

Hi Bro, I went to the mechanic and cleaned the EGR. Even after cleaning EGR there's black smoke. The car feels sluggish when AC is on. Once the turbo kicks in, it accelerates fine. I've tried cleaning the MAF Sensor too, is the black smoke due to MAF or its the already deposited soot in Exhaust coming out ?
Hi bro.. cannot say that. it should be the egr itself. Try disconnecting the egr connector and drive. See if it improves.
I would also suggest going on a trip long and driving the car fast for a long period at around 3.5k Rpm so any soot build up would burn away from the catalytic convector and other parts of exhausts ofc please do it safely and in 5 gear on a long stretch of highway driving around in city bumper o bumper traffic can do this to your car you will feel a lot of black smoke come out but after a few seconds it will stop but keep going till it stops and Ofc the car should be properly warmed before you perform this and should have new oil changed recently for minimal damage bigger engines have regenerating cycles which do the same thing the settings are called DPF regeneration.

Hey, how much much would it cost to get the egr valve cleaned by a professional? I'm thinking about doing the job myself but I'm afraid I might just ruin it all.
There's nothin to get ruined,just the bolts carefully not breaking them. From a mechanic it cost around 3 hrs or more hours of labour chrge depending where you live. Mostly btwn 1.5k to 3k inr

Im not sure if ford clean maf but will do the egr for sure. If you have a skilled outside mechanic, obviously outside is best. Its actually done as a preventive measure.

Hi there bro, you need a basic 46 piece half inch tool set for basic needs. For figo, need a 21mm wrench for oip drain and 27 mm socket and an extension for oil filter cover.

Bro there's no pcv valve in ford tdci engines. pressure at crank case is kept negative using turbo's suction. you can see a small pipe jst b4 the turbo inlet going from main inlet hose to cv filter on the top of engine.

Dont have to worry bro. Jst put a hose clamp or cable tie. during hot performance that small pipe expands due to heat and oil vapour from pcv filter leaks out through that pipe inserting area. thats y oil stains seen there. using clamp will seal the loose hose properly.

Hi, do check the wiring and connector for corrosion. Check the continuity of wires from ecm. Worst a damaged egr motor or internal shorts.
That turbocharger shaft play, is that normal dear? Why is that minute play there?
Yes thats normal, unlike ball n roller bearing, turbo uses journal bearings. They need a small gap so the oil gets filled there while operating, which keeps the shaft and bearing seperated when spinning.
@@dailyhandsdiy Just as I thought, thank you so much. One more query, my car is a Figo 1.5 TDCI 69k run 2018, new oil, filter everything, which I do myself. Off late, I see white smoke during morning starts for a few minutes then subsides once the engine heats.
Once warmed up, no black smoke even if I redline. Oil level is fine, coolant level is fine, no discoloration of coolant. Just morning few puffs of white smoke with the usual diesel-ey eye burning smell, and then normalizes. Glow plugs seems to be fine, any thoughts, please?
Have you got any check on EGR...? This can happen if the egr is partially stuck open or not closing properly. i have a video on 1.5 to check egr... could use that to find if the egr is sticking or partially stuck open...

A bit of oil is normal as its from pcv system... there will be oil, cant eliminate that. ford does smoke after 2.5k rpm...its gives out hell of smoke. Dont worry...if there's not much oil consumption and fuel economy is good..then its ok.

Sir please suggest on 1issue..my Figo diesel is done 50k kms n when running in 2 or 3 gear in slow rpm without ac at around 900-1000 rpm if I press accelerator slightly then car jerks unless rpm increases n turbo kicks in..this occurs more in cold engine n with heat issue is less..with ac the rpm already gets increased so on pressing accelerator the issue doesn't occur.. overall pick up is excellent.. cleaned MAS sensor but no benefit..air filter already new..diesel filter drained for any water n will change shortly but pick up is good to diesel filter Shud be good..
Thats normal borther. U see present day cars, engine load calculations are used for fuel injection. At lower rpm and slight acceleration, engine load will be at peak. So it injects fuel in its full Capacity. but the work done on the pistons will be less as oxygen in cylinder will be less. So it struggles to maintain the load. As rpm goes high the load on engine drops significantly. And when turbo kiks in we get a full potential combustion work on piston. So the engine will suffer less load. Thats why vibrates on low rpms and smoth at higher rpm.

There are many reasons for it borther, in short, in cold condition, clearance on cylinder parts will be high so air escapes easly which is known as blow by gas. So a complete compression of air will not happen thus lower the combustion efficiency, this put a lot more stress on engine. At as it heats up, components inside expands and clearances will reduce which increase compression and thus proper combustion. There are other reasons like oil and its viscosity, flow rate, sensor functions. Injection timing etc.. Al these are affected by temperature.
Its egr, ford 1.4 doesn't have a drv valve. Glad to hear from you brother.

I own ford figo 2012 . Already I asked some other issue and you told me solution. Still I have another issue with my car . When I press acceleration in 1st gear car start jerking and not able to Move forward at up hill in second gear . In idle when I press acceleration for two to three times (revving) rpm start dancing and engine will turn off automatically. When I press break on High speed by pressing clutch car will stall. Is these are caused by egr valve?
Usually this is more like an air intake matering problem i guess. Ever cleaned the maf sensor or checked the air filter? And rarely non functional egr does exhibit problems similar to the said ones.

Hey pal, I’ve just had a power train light on and the car went into limp mode. Eventually I started it and it didn’t go into limp mode but was still a bit jerky. I’m wondering if a open EGR would cause this or as my theory is that a sensor has got wet and it’s poured down today and I went through some pretty big puddles. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks
70% comes from egr malfunction and rest could be any thing like clogged maf. Seems not from a wet sensor i guess like you said.

Hey, thanks for the video, very useful. However I had a bad EGR a few weeks ago (had EML on permanently) . Bought a second hand EGR and fitted it; light went out. However a few weeks later the car judders now and then and idles rough. Do you think it’s the EGR or a MAF sensor? I’ve had no dash lights and I understand it’s hard for you to diagnose but just after some advice please? I’m thinking I’ll follow this video and clean the valve but I’d rather not haha. Thanks
Hi brother It could be dirty MAF. if maf does not perform well, it affect egr as well. Try cleaning MAF first and see if it resolves. I have a video of cleaning maf easily.

Bro ford engine is so sensitive to sensors. Jst clean the maf sensor, wont take much time. Can be done by yrslf.

hii i cleaned the egr as you mentioned in the video...but after mantling i found a connector unplugged next to the egr connector...a yellow connector .,,its seen unplugged in your video too...wher to plug it/
One blu and one green ryt. The blue one goes to connector behind the fuel filter and the green goes below the filter. There are two sensors in fuel filter. One one back one on bottom.

Its one of the reason for the same issue. A dirty MAF n MAP sensor can also be a reason.

I have ford figo 1.4 diesel .in morning start the car too much vibrate and after 2 km 3 km driving the run smooth. The dtc code show. P0360 & P0370. i change maf sensor also.i remove the egr plug because of faulty egr.
According to the dtc its an engine wiring fault or corrosion. Check the wiring to cam and crank shaft position sensors, check sensors for dust or oil spreading, check timing and crank shaft timing ring for damage.
Misfiring can occur by egr or not.in morning
Egr won't cause any misfire. It will give huge white smoke in the morning and black smoke whn the engine is warm with low fuel mileage and power.
In ford figo 1.4 diesel .Does the glow plug work in the morning or not?. Because the dtc code show in my car p0380.some problem with this cause in car.
Yup glow plugs works at every starting point of the engine. Either the connectors can get oxidised or the plugs may have gone bad.
Hi bro, I tried to clean sensor as you said while cleaning I observed that there is a oil leak from turbo shaft. After cleaning it there was no smoke for 20km and after 20kms smoke started again. One more big problem is my fiesta suddenly turns off while driving and not even starts if we give self start, it only starts when we push the car. If we drive on ac it will start immediately when it gets off suddenly. What will be the problem ?
I think there's engine heating issue bro. not sure Or and injector excessive leak off problem. or a bad fuel pressure sensor. Have you cleaned maf sensor?
Oil inside turbo is normal, its the oil vapour from engine case sucked in by the turbo.
Ya bro. If the temperature reaches medium car will turn off when we stop somewhere light traffic signals or when we slow vehicle turnings and it will not start until we push or temperature reaches low
Of course bro, i doubt a failing injector or bad fuel rail pressures sensor. When engine becomes hot, clearnces on injector or pump gets high and fuel pressure will not reach threshold. I suggest to give a check at diesel and pump service station.

bro egr is fastened by 3 small bolts. use a 5mm normal hex socket. it matches the bolt.

Depends on the way of driving. On an average, i think 14 ~ 15 in cities and 17 ~ 19 on highway.
More than 20 in hway. 18 to 20 in city.

Hi bro, been watching ur videos...extremely useful advice. I have a Figo 1.4tdci and have been getting intermittent misfire or jerks and black smoke. Not sure if this could be the fuel pressure sensor or the rail. Thought it was fuel filter and replaced it but still doing the same. Recently discovered that the radiator fan is not coming on so not sure if the temp sensor can cause the car to have the intermittent misfire or jerk and black smoke. Diagnostics@ local ford dealership read as follows, Description: P0192
FRP sensor low input
This DTC may be caused by:
Pressure regulating valves or controls
FRP sensor/wiring
Fuel injector faults
Wiring harness Chafe in the area of transmission.
2nd diagnostics read as follows (same day...2 diff diagnostics)
Description P0194
Fuel rail pressure sensor intermittent
This DTC may be caused by:
Damaged or contaminated connector
Faulty or damaged PCM
Not sure what to go with as they've done diagnostics on the same day with differences in diagnostics
Hi there, do check the wiring first. Both on the regulator and sensor. Clean them both. From the diagnostics looks like the fault is from the FRP sensor side bcs of p0194. A fault in regulator does show p0192 but not p0194. A fault in FRP can cause the regulator to mis operate and throw p0192. And the radiator fan only turns on when the coolant temp hits 105 degrees. Do check if the fan works when AC is turned on. Do these first and check if the issue reoccurs.

I personally don't recommend bro. Because its believed decarbonising will remove the solid carbon inside the engine by superheating it while combustion using hO molecules or smthing. But its realy not suggested to introduce any kind of accelerators to increase the cylinder temp and blast away carbon inside. It puts too much stress on the pistons and can sometime result in piston and valve deforming or affect metallurgical properties. And also its not evident that it cleans manifolds as its said to work at power stroke inside the cylinder not out side. There wont be any initial problems but eventually some mechanical problems may pop up. And mechanical troubles can tear your pocket apart. None of the engine needs any decarbonising.
Jst do the timely oil change, do a manual manifold clean up at each 60k-80k km.

Too much black smoke, too much white smoke on cold start whith strong pungent smell of diesel, Intermittent power loss, lack of pedal response, too much flat sound on heavy acceleration, turbo not kickin in, and last dtc....

Hey, in the space of a year I've had a nightmare with engine management light coming on and reducing power in my 2012 fiesta. When I get the car checked out it always comes up with an issue with the egr valve. I've had 3 egr valves fitted in the space of the year and each time I've been told there was nothing wrong with the previous valve. Luckily 2 different warrantys covered 2 of these fixes. However the issue still comes up with every egr valve I have had fitted. Any idea why I still get engine management light related to the valve, when there isn't a problem with the valve?
Yea, this could be a fault in ecm software. If the many egr does the same faulty thing, either its a fault in wiring or the ecm is not commanding it what to do but the feedback circuit is working, thats why u get an error code. Whats the error code its throwing?
@@dailyhandsdiy thanks. The error code that comes up is the engine malfunction. And every time its diagnosed on the computer it says its the egr valve causing it
Its a good idea to check the wiring and its continuity to ecm. a broken insulation, oxidised joints etc.. can also trigger this problem

If you mean oil leaks then yes, unlike petrol engine, diesel engine vibrates more. This will make the oil seal nd sealants to wear fast. But its rare in modern engine technology. its a 50 50 chance.
At what intervals does the EGR valve need cleaning?
It depends on the driving conditions if living in city areas the interval shld be 40k kms and at highway can go btwn 60k to 70k.

Yes just unplugging would do, there will be check engine light..its not harmful for the engine but to Earth...yes...Could also do a software delete

@@dailyhandsdiy i did not check rpm but every small blind ditch it get stops whether am in 80 speed or in 30, again i have to immediate start with the flip of key and little feared if won't starts at 50 to 80 speed, i feel could be a wiring or loose fuse, thanks for ur early reply.
itz doesn't feel like fuse blown issue. Could be faulty relay which stops functioning at intervals. Also might be loose. or even loose drive train wiring harness. or could be a engine timing pickup problem by crank sensor. which also could be a wiring issue. So check each engine ignition related relays, wiring harness if loose or something and last crank sensor. Also check loose fuses too.

Usually the knock in tdci engines comes from the injectors going bad. other reasons are timing errors, wrong fuel pressure...etc..pls make sure if its a diesel knock or cause of some other worn out parts.

First clean the maf sensor and check if it resolves second check if there's any vaccum leak on the turbo inlet pipe. 3rd could be an egr malfunction. Engine load and egr funtion, every thing is depended on maf sensor. So basic thing is to clean and check maf, vaccum leaks on pipes, and check air filter.

hello brother.hello. i have e60 525d 2004. in the city it drives good and normally but in autostrade afrer 30-40 minutes driving it get warm and start droping the gears. examples ( when it take 5th gear around 100-110 and you press the gass hard it make a noise and stop accelerating). the same with another gear if there is no required speed. and i got light transmission fault. i restart the car and drove manual so like that it work fine but always taking care to have right gear on right speed. please if know this problem tell me the solution thank you
hey mate, its common in bmw audi vw n skodas to have problems with transmission without proper service. If you have problem with every gear its likely to be the oil itself or the torque converter or the mechatronics. Its common to be the transmission valve body with worn out sleeves or orings causing oil pressure to drop. So a trans mechatronic service with proper replace of o rings n sleeves might cure your problem. Im saying from the common occurrence. A proper diagnosis should be done to find fault. And if its a TC issues, on citys load on the converter is less so might copup with the situations and when at highways or at highr gears load on the converter is high.if there's no proper oil pressure,it slips and cause similar issues. Also a non specified oil can cause this as well.

oh i don't recommend to mix oils if the previous one is not known. Its better to change as whole. These gearboxes are quite sensitive to specificed oil n pressure. If the previous one is to old,the new one can cause varying pressures n cause gear not engaging or shifting unnecessarily.

No bro. ford doesn't has a gas cooler. so not need to take the whole assembly. Jst making the actuator move freely is more than enough.
some cars i have seen the whole pipe filled with carbon and oil. in that case i guess it's better to dismantle the whole assembly
In cars with gas cooler, need a dismantle. but without cooler doesn't matter. the nxt day u clean the pipe all tat carbon and oil be back there. By the way bro, this is to check sticking egr valve. even if theres no clogs, soot gets into spindle gaps and makes spindle difficult to move. in tat case this is usefull. a simple way to check egr.

There's something wrong with the fitting. Try disconnecting the valve electrical connector and start the car.

its always preventive. The fault will be no acceleration and if you're running up a hill......you're stuck.

These are Major issues ?
Kind of... first one is from egr, so need an egr clean up. Second one is for cam/crank shaft sensor miscalculation which can be of bad timing or failing cam or crank sensor( need attention), third can be bcs of battery discharging fast or battery going bad.
secnd one need an attention becs it can cause sudden engine break down any time.

I cleaned the egr valve at ford service centre but after cleaning the car is jerking and stopping. I am getting p1335( EGR Position Sensor Minimum Stop Performance). They are asking to replace with new egr valve costing Rs 21000. Pls help car is at unusable left at ford service centre now.any solution ?before Cleaning egr error code was p0404(.EGR valve position control performance or range fault)

Done it and also checked the line coming from tank to filter. No fuel is coming..
oh the below is busted, bro do one thing, find the fuel return line and carefully suck till the fuel comes. Immediately connect the line back. Sould do that carefully.

I have a Ford Figo 1.4 petrol 2010 model. Recently it has been releasing smoke from the engine like its from the plugs.
Now it is refusing to starts i have to keep on trying until it starts well. I have changed NGK plugs twice now. What maybe the problem?

looks like piston rings have worn. Changing spark plugs won't cure it. Have to do a compression test on each cylinders. Its buring oil tats why its emitting smoke.

Bro first and mostly check the egr for clogs, turbo, clean maf and map sensor. Does your car takes longer cranking on morning?

If starts fine in the morning and no issues with startup, you might not need an engine ovrhul. Jst check athe above mentioned things and see if it cures. Clean maf n map sensor first. And see.
