I started skiing not too long ago and probably skied 4-5 times now and it's always so interesting to see a first person POV of the tricks that you perform. I'm a visual learner so it helps boost my confidence and provides a lot of tips for body movement and how you tackle new obstacles. Incredible video, I hope I see more of these videos more!
I went to Mt. Hood Meadows last Tuesday on my birthday, and it was PURE ICE. While it was sunny and beautiful, and I still had a good time regardless, oh my GOODNESS was it HARD to ride. I was one of the ONLY people that ENTIRE day to do black diamond slopes, snowboarder or skiier, and after doing them, I understood why. Powder days work much better for black runs. Hehe. Hopefully soon I can return to Meadows yet again with my new snowboard setup! Its my first time ever having my own fully completed board and boots (I have everything else). :D
haha yeah there are lots of days like that here! If I didn't like skiing park I don't think I'd be able to be a PNW skier, it's all about balance and getting your reps on jumps and jibs when it's brick out
I had one pow day ever at Meadows when I went to highschool at windells I was 15 and riding demo skis 10cm too short cause I am from the east coast and never skied pow and had only tiny park skis and the first run we ran into Tommy Eellingson who took us off a cliff and I have a clear memory of not even the full day but just that cliff. I have never been back or skied meadows again so I have kinda just chalked this memory up to a fever dream but at 6:33 I reconginzed the inrun and the cliff i remember from that day is the cliff that homie backies!!
@AlexHackelNetwork dude that is amazing. Tommy is such a legend up here, I still look through his old videos for inspo. I didn't know you were a windells academy kid! Love your videos too, always trying to get my storytelling and swerves on your level 🫡
Yeah for sure! Right now all of my advanced settings are standard, i plan to start messing with hdr or log when i learn more about color grading. Im shooting with the ultrawide lens on ultra hyperview fov, 4k 60fps in the sun and 30fps in the clouds. Widescreen so i dont have to think about cropping, media mod mic on to reduce wind. For me the goal is to keep it simple so i can think about skiing. I also need to remount my adhesive higher on my helmet so it stops rotating down when i land heavyhead 😅
Thanks! To clarify, do you think its the fov or just the angle? The camera got knocked down on some of these clips and it looks weird, but i feel like the more upright ones look good still? Idk!
@@hankskiI think it's probably the fov. You can see some pretty agressive banding at the bottom where the scenery should be moving at a constant speed rather than looking like it is ramping up. Here's a timestamp: 4:08. It almost looks like a waterfall of sorts. Anyways, loved the video!
Is Hank on Mt Hood Rushmore 🤔
Ask this again when my Mt. Hood film drops in January 🌋
Hank just had to tell you, that you kick ass and take names and that is coming from a Snowboarder, Can't wait for more Great vids.
Such a sick day! Thanks for the kind words at the end. I'm gonna use you as a reference when I tell people I'm the best skier on the mountain
We all know it someone's gotta say it
yooooo shoutout Joe, Paul and Will!!! Ya'll the real og's. Great vid!
Will Reuland is the name. Absolutely one of the best skiers on Hood. Backie was sick!

My boy Nate! 3:57 sick riding brother.

I'm a fan of the Hood content. Thanks for this.

Such a great couple of pow days early season, glad to say hi in the lift on Saturday!

0:57 "oh what the hell why not" was so funny
Sometimes u gotta tell that little voice in ur head to shut up 😂

Hell Yeah Hank lovely vid! and great skiing.

Such a joy seeing you (and crew, that off axis backie was 🔥) crush my home terrain. Thanks for the stoke. The hill is going to be epic this year!!!
Awesome Vid!
Had to replay that cliff send there at the end. So sick!
Spicy entrance but that landing is always soft!

Amazing video insane terrain you hit! Keep it up
Went off that cliff right under MHX today a little over halfway up. Biggest drop I’ve done yet :)
I can't believe that you only have 1k subs
Subscribed! I love watching this type of skiing. Any chance you could help a brotha out with some of your gopro settings?

@@BeckettThiel-l6d in description!
A lot of those aren’t actually double black diamonds, w video tho
Love the videos, but the super wide fov is pretty distracting especially at the bottom. Keep shreddin brotha!
Thanks! To clarify, do you think its the fov or just the angle? The camera got knocked down on some of these clips and it looks weird, but i feel like the more upright ones look good still? Idk!
@@hankski had the same thought as him -- section near 4:03 felt bad probably because of the angle (warping at the bottom felt weird)
