I did not have the interviewer last name nor contact info so I sent the thank you email to the hiring recruiter and I left a nice comment about the interviewer whether it will be relayed to them or not. I did it anyway. Thank you Cass, God bless you. I am blessed to have found your channel.

Yes I did! I wrote my email in response to getting asked for a 2nd interview. I got to my interview early, before my competition showed up. I was nervous but I remembered your tutorials and I got that job! More than twice my current salary with a sign on bonus! You helped me feel for confidant. Thank you for everything!!!

I followed your advice about how to questions to ask at the end of the interview and the way to write the thank you email in an interview. Two days later I was offered a full time position in a big company with lots of benefits. I have been trying to get a job like this for almost a year. Thank you so much for your advice!

I had an interview with a recruiter who didn't seem to excited about our conversation, said I would hear from her in a week. My friend suggested I write a thank you note. So I did and within 30 minutes I got a response that they want to move forward to the final stages of the interview process.
I ended up getting the job. And i honestly credit the thank you note. I love your videos!

Last week I had a telephone job interview with a VP that was only scheduled for 30 minutes (he knew that would be rushed).
After the interview, I decompressed, gathered my thoughts about how I did, and proceeded to write the email thank you note. I had his email address because his assistant sent me the invite from his email. I included what Cassie mentioned. Also, because the time was short, i included some additional traits that would make me a better candidate than others.
In the last sentence, I closed the sale putting myself in the hired position: "I look forward to working with you and your team".

I got the job, thank you so much. I have been watching your videos, about career tips, I have had 3 job interviews in 2 days, one phone and two in person. I was prepared, asked follow up questions. My interview today, I asked the hard question about hesitation on hiring me. She said she didn't have any, asked when I was able to start. I told her right away, I start on Friday. Of the 3 jobs that I have interviewed for this last one was the job I wanted the most. So again thank you. =)

I didn't sent a thank you email for my last interview. The
reason why is because, in my opinion, the recruiter didn't behave in a
professional manner. She email me to schedule a phone interview, and sent me a
link to her calendar, so I scheduled the time for the interview. Then, I
emailed her to say thank you for her time and to confirm the interview, but she
didn't replay. I honestly wasn't sure if I was on her calendar, and I wasn't
sure if she would call me or not. Anyways, I prepared for the interview because
I wanted to look prepared and professional. During the phone interview she
didn't introduce the company, she didn't introduce the position, and went
straight to ask me questions. I didn't feel like she was in it with me during
the interview. Like, when I finished answering a question, she did not make any
following comments before asking me the next question, and it was like that for
all the 24 min that the interview lasted. It made me feel uncomfortable. When
it was time for my questions, I made little comments after her answers,
looking to connect with her, but she was the same: no receptive at all. She was
very dried, distant and a bit rude. So, I decided that it was not worthy for me
to keep being professional to a person that was obviously not making the effort
at all. After all the time and preparation I took to talk to her and she
reacted like that?? not fair. I rather she wouldn't have call me if on a second
look, she thought I wasn't the ideal candidate. I know people might think: "
well, it's your job to impress them" and. "it is not their obligation
to replay an email". I'd say; yes that's true, but after all my effort, it
is not my obligation either to keep investing my time and energy in someone
that gave me a bad impression of the company with her behavior and making me
doubt about their work culture by being plain rude. I am just saying.....

Question for you - if it only takes 4 minutes to write a thank you note, would you be against writing it in the lobby after the interview and then leaving it at reception? Or do you always suggest email for interview situations?

So some people say that’s okay and actually encourage it, I find that it can kind of be intrusive or make the assistant or interviewer nervous because you may run into other candidates. It’s really okay to wait and send an email.

I just finished my interview. My interviewers were so dry. We did not connect on a personal level at all. Whatever. I still smiled a lot, and kept an upbeat tone (phone Interview). So, my ty note was "thank you for the opportunity to interview with you. Then I asked for the job "I am hoping for an chance to put all my experience together and do so and so" Then I closed with " thank you again, enjoy the superbowl weekend."
I honestly do not understand why companies interview internal employees. Why put us thru the torture? I understand the interview process for an outsider, but I dont care how big the company is, all u have to do is get my performance measures, and look up my attendance. done deal. But what do I know? Interviewing feels like a piece of meat on display. "So, tell me about yourself"
i didnt sleep last night, and i dont really need this job, it would be a promotion.
Well, its done. Now im going to noon happy hour, its 5 o'clock some where.

@Cass Thompson Career Advice - Thank you for this info. I always write a "thank you" note after my interviews. I just had a phone interview that involved TWO interviers. So, do I write ONE thank you letter? Or two seperate ones? I'm thinking writing just one and cc'ing the other ... The main interviewer controlled 99% of the interview. The other lady anwered one or two of the questions I had. If I cc'd, I'd mention them, both. Do you find this an acceptable way to handle this????

I did not get a chance to send a thank you email because I got a call to inform I was not successful. I did however still write an email with reflection/correction on some of my “wrong” answers and to thank for their time and honest feedback 😭

I have always heard that you need to insert something about how, again, you are a good fit for the job. Is this not right?

I've been watching all your videos this week in preparation for a big interview today (which I've just come out of and I think it went well!) - do you have any advice for what to do if you have a panel of interviewers (I had 6), and you don't have their individual emails? Should I find them in LinkedIn, or just email the person in HR who arranged the interview?

    • @CassThompsonConsulting

I'm going to do a video soon on ALL the thank you questions because there are a lot of nuances, but either suggestion you gave works. You can always ask HR to pass it along.

Hi Cass, just wanted to let you know that I got the job!! Thank you SO much for all your stellar advice. I couldn't have done it without you!
(p.s. I ended up sending thank you messages to all the interviewers on LinkedIn - definitely worth it!)

I interviewed for a company before where there is a note posted on the wall that candidates should not get in touch with the interviewer or write to them. Strange but that is their policy to show their decision would be objective.

I also send thank you emails but I was wondering does it matter if it's an attached word document or in the body of the email? I've sent both but wasn't sure which one is considered to be proper etiquette.

Should I send a thank you note to the hiring manager? (Potential boss, not the recruiter)

Do I need to send a thank you email to the recruiter that did a preliminary phone interview? Or should I only be sending thank you emails to the person who does a in person interview?

I just commented the exact same question lol...I just sent one to the phone screener. Something in me told me to do it. I still have my 2nd interview to attend so....will see. What did you end up doing? Did you send one?

Question: the place I’m being interviewed for doesnt have an email on their website. Should I ask them “I would really love to send a thank you, do you happen to have an email address I can send that to?”

Question. Can I still write a thank you note two days after an interview? 😯 My nerves got the best of me and I feel like I didn't get the job.

My policy is always better late than never! So yes! Go write it! But remember, do not bring up anything negative, like "Sorry I think I didn't do my best, but thank you for your time." Nope. They may have thought you were awesome, so don't put doubts in their head!

    • @CassThompsonConsulting

You can always send it to the person who set up the interview and ask them to send it on to everyone. And you can ask for business cards at the interview.
