Hi there! My family and I are members of Pastor Borvan’s congregation in Anaheim (always great to have you guest-preach, Pastor Gordon!) Thank you both, this was a great conversation, as usual! Regarding work: because today’s culture grants us the privilege of being more selective in our vocation than the son of a coal-miner would have had in the 1920s, could it be argued that a Christian ought to be, to some degree, proactive in obtaining work which magnifies their God-given talents and gifts?
With the great awakening stats were there any wars, plagues, migrations, or new denominations or shifts in denomination preference? Also, how accurate were the states because there are some serious issues with even birth stats. Obviously there were issues but probobly with some stats too. Not sure how I feel about revivals but I question data that old and in that context. Never thought of using stats in a context like that and it seems like there would be a ton of possible issues. edit- Looked into it and from what I found protestant church attendance actually increased 30yrs out. Maybe I misheard you or there’s some mistake?

My brother! A real man you are. May the Lord continue to bless you mightily. You and Dan
Part of our discontentment comes from the misery of being fallen. There is a legitimate groaning as well as illigitimate.
Looking forward to the rest of this discussion.
