Boros is laughin at himself in that case, but i think its a mix of both. To even give him the slightest inkling of a challenge. Boros was laughing at his own stupidity for not admitting to himself that he couldn't keep up with Saitama. He didn't think he was weak, even, he knew that despite his actual power, there wasn't just a gap between their strength - he's not even in the same order of magnitude. That's what puts such a great cherry on top of what would be a triumphant, if pyrrhic victory in other anime. Saitama found what would be the closest organism to him, but evil and it barely even fazed him. That last bit of "it was a hard fight" was as much pity for Boros, his kindred in spirit, as despair at his own insurmountable strength and everlasting boredom.
I'm guessing that the part where Saitama is walking away from him after defeating Boros is actually him regretting killing him. Because he can still grow stronger, but he had no choice but to stop him from obliterating Earth.
Sensible theory but he isn't exactly Goku, Saitama's look isn't regret but more of lack of getting a kick out of fighting an equal, Boros was powerful but not powerful enough for Saitama to go all out...he makes a similar face when he defeats Cosmic Fear Garou , this time he's contemplating despite going all out he's not feeling anything because it came out of cost of Genos' death ( before he learned to travel back in time and stop garou becoming a God level threat)
the only one who made Saitama admit that the strongest guy he ever faced, even Garou is truly stronger than Boros but Saitama didn't admit that Garou was the strongest, Saitama just wanted to teach this madman a lesson and bring him back to human being.

Boros is a different species of alien than the multiple head one. Boros don't have marble but he has super regeneration that can be boost with his energy. After consecutive normal punches from Saitama, Boros didn't reform to his marble but each of his cells regenerate and merged back together. The sphere that cracked is the power sphere of the ship that make it fly, so when it cracked the ship fall.
