  • In a previous episode, • 4200 sq ft GEOTHERMAL ... , we shared the build-out of the 4,200 square foot geothermal greenhouse at Stonebend Farm, but how does the greenhouse perform after almost four feet of snow this winter?
We'll be documenting the progress of the greenhouse build over the coming months and taking notes for our own greenhouse!

I keep seeing people do the same mistake with these geothermal systems. You never want to be pushing the hot air under ground. You need to be pulling on the cold side of the system in order for the refrigeration and heat storage to work efficiently.

1:01 Temperature rate of change is not dependent on the size of the greenhouse in reference to square foot of floor area. It has to do with the mass (volume) of air and objects inside. ex a 4500 square foot floor area greenhouse that is 6 ft tall will warm up and cool down more rapidly that the same 4500 sq footprint at 18 ft tall assume all else being equal

There is a Canadian professor who built multiple types of greenhouses, some like this but buried. Those ones worked the best. He had one just like this but sunken about 20-25 feet down. I have had polycarbonate roofs over the years, and I will tell you they do not last, and glass is the only way to go although we all know more expensive in the long run glass is far superior in many ways!

I love this place thanks for sharing ….one thing, though I noticed your radient heating system had manual valves. In Europe We use electronic thermostat to electronic actuator, so you can set the thermostat to the desired temperature no need to open and close valves manually
