I feel like a cockatiel is something kinda big to start with for ur first bird so I agree with ur parents I think u should get a tamed budge and show them how responsible u are for like 6 months or so then I think they will get u a cockatiel 🤍goood luck 🦋

Just carry. Him/her around with you and speak normally. They pick up on things that interest them. You’re a good bird, you’re a pretty bird, what are you doing? Here we go. Etc. They’re great. The girls can talk they just don’t as often. Also they like a bit of drama.

This video reminds me of how grateful I am for my cockatiel Chipper who just became 17 years of age. He’s very sweet and interactive with a clownish personality. When I brought him home from the bird specialty store, I noticed that he was missing a toenail. I’m not sure if it was due to a birth defect or something but I think that was why potential humans overlooked him and didn’t see that he had so much to offer. I believe that cockatiels are the epitome of the phrase “Good things come in small packages.” These little birds have so much to offer in personality and companionship.
it’s weird that workers in pet stores don’t know that cockatiels talk, sent my dad to go get a few things from the pet store and when he told them he had a cockatiel and that he talks they were shocked
Are any of these birds yours? How long does it take honestly for them to start talking or singing something other than a few whistles? Mine is 1 1/2 years old and he doesn’t talk or sing more than a few whistles. He’s a lutino cockatiel. Which is the all white and yellow , with the red cheeks. I know Google says after one year but honestly can it take a few years or is it more likely if he hasn’t started within this amount time my bird won’t speak?
