This game was more entertaining than I thought it would be. Talent wise, Vanderbilt is probably more in-line with an upper tier Mountain West team than Hawaii is to a lower end SEC team.
Do you mean that this game is more of a bad thing for Vanderbilt than a good thing for Hawaii? Im not sure how good these teams will be, but just from the highlights Hawaii looked good. Their qb hit some deep throws that you don't always see in cfb.

Hawaii showed great fight. They’re going to be much improved from last year. Vandy’s running game was extremely disappointing but they’re defense stepped up when needed. An overall good game for week 0!

As a Vandy fan, we knew before the season our corners were atrocious. Our best hope is for the young corners to develop throughout the year and take the starting jobs
These new rules that result in less football being played.... absolute trash. EVERYBODY should complain until the old rules are reinstated, and we can get a decent amount of football per game

Geezer Vandy grad (1973) found these game clips pretty good. Dores as usual will win a couple of games a season, but academics in this school is too tough to attract the best players in the country. That's ok, contra coach Lombardi I don't feel winning is the only thing.
Key takeaway: 1) QB needs to prevent turnover (2INT) and throw to the check-downs (TE or RB), or out of bounds, not always look for the deep knockout plays!; 2) Special teams need to fix the kickoff cause the bunching to the left side hurt them in the return as the right side was exposed and wide open! 3) Lastly, play to the whistle even if false-start! That hesitant stop allowed the QB time to throw an accurate ball downfield!
Despite lost for Hawaii, at least this years' lost is not that bad of 35 to 28 (lost by 1 touchdown) compared to the last time Hawaii faced against Vanderbilt. If I recall, the last game Hawaii has with Vanderbilt was terrible: 60 something to 10 & that game was right at Hawaii's turf in Honolulu, very humiliating defeat last time for Hawaii... But this time: not bad. However, Close but no Cigar to Hawaii.
Vandy made that game a lot more stressful then it had to be honestly thought they were gonna choke it. Honestly weird saying this but Vandy’s offense looks explosive with some of their skill players but they gotten be able to run the ball against Hawaii they were completely shut down in that area if it doesn’t improve Vandy ain’t winning one conference game. They hung on and I guess a win is a win but almost choking a three touchdown lead in the fourth quarter against Hawaii is a big yikes😬😬😬
The SEC is going to have to change their Merch policy in Conference bookstores. In solidarity for their football program, they all sold Vanderbilt Doormats. That might change this year.
Hawaii needs to work on tackling. There were a dozen plays where they had a guy in hand and couldn't bringing him down without getting two more players involved.
