Oh my god!!! I play broodwar for 15 years, but only with friends or vs computer and have never got into the depths of the game... I didn't know any of these tips...How have I been playing this game!?!?!? That's the most usefull video of Broadwar I've ever seen. Thank you prof. Protoss!!!
I've been playing SC for years, but never took it seriously because I always sucked. I love the game and always wanted to be good. Because of your tutorials, I beat the computer for the first time. Not only that, I was able to do a 1v2comp and win! Thanks a million for the info.
Another trick not mentioned is SHIFT+CONTROL+CLICK, which is easier and more useful than SHIFT+CLICK when adding units to control groups. You have, say, 6 dragoons in CG1, and 6 other just casually lying nearby. All you have to do is select CG1, then press COTROL+SHIFT+CLICK on any dragoon, and instantly you will have added to your current selection of CG1 all other dragoons on screen, up to 12; you can thereafter proceed to Control Group them into 1 or whichever other group you like.
I want to add another Shift feature. If you select a unit/s and do a Shift + it will merge the currently selected unit to that control group. Very useful if you wanted to quickly replenish your units to be involved on your control group no. I learned that back when Scan teached Artosis about that trick on one of his livestreams.
I hope you'll continue this tutorial series. Perhaps you could play through some games and sort of commentate along with it giving tips/tricks that you think of while playing. Or perhaps a let's play through the original campaign?
21:42 actually you just need to shift + click the unit and shift + hotkey number. Example if you 1 is assign to zealots, select all other new zealot then shift 1, the the hotkey 1 has assign to all selected zealots...no need press 1, then shift + control click zealots then another control 1 ..
Professor Protoss another two techniques you should show are 1) alt + hotkey. Example you have set a control group units 1, and another control group units 2. Alt + 1 will switch to centre camera of control group 1 and alt + 2 will switch to camera of control group 2. Same as double tap 1 & 2. 2nd technique is to alt + click unit. If you have 12 marine in one select group 1. You press 1 right click will move 2 marine. In the middle if you want split 5 of them to move another way, you may just box select 5 marine and right click. If you want to select back the exact 5 marine, you just simply alt + click one of them. It will always give you the unit with last selected group.
Just watched this video in 2020. Whoo hoo. Cool explanation and some tricks I didn't know. Is there a way to upgrade Terran Missile Turret weapons in SC 1 BW? When you click on the turret, it says Longbolt missile and shows ZERO.
In SC2 you can add units to control groups and remove them from other control groups at the same time. By default it's ALT + SHIFT (or ALT + CTRL), but I actually changed it so it's the behaviour for SHIFT and CTRL. Definitely miss this in SC1. Like I want to hotkey a shuttle separately but remove it from my army hotkey in one action...
I'm trying to assign camera hotkeys but something is always selected. How do I unselect stuff to be able to assign camera hotkeys instead of buildings?
Egalitarian Ethos hey you have to patrol click not control click. Patrol hotkey is P and then you left click where you want it to patrol to. Once shot at it will fly away
Bentzy R Select the workers click on a mineral patch away from them. The best way is to use a camera hotkey near minerals by using shift + f2 or f3 or f4
My brother is spamming carriers (eg.10 of them). My cannons are not helpful. Should I spam Scouts or Corsair (or high templars or dragoons) to defend??
Penguinz 9000 there’s 2 ways to deal with carrier. Directly or indirectly. Directly I would use carriers as well or dragoon with high Templar. If you really want you can make 5 dark archon to mind control but it’s tough. Indirectly if you are scouting your brother correctly and see he is teaching to carrier you would have a big army advantage before he can mass them. Attack his below ramp expansions and use storm drops for his high ground expansions. He won’t be able to reach mass carrier
And also thank you for doing this. I love this game. It is the greatest game ever made some of my friends. Make fun of me like you’re still playing StarCraft. I’m like dude I don’t want anything new I mean sure I’d love to see a new StarCraft, but I want to see more. I would like to see some more, added to Red and use the same engine where I can get the expansions fan fan made let me know
That’s not always true. I’ve had plenty of workers get stuck and not be able to mind like getting an SUV SUV stuck behind a supply depot in between another building.

So 4 years later what you? Do you still play and did you improve? 😊
I'm in the same boat.played this game for yrs but never learned how to use hot keys to stay faster. Thanks for the video

woah, trying to get back to SC and that patrol on shuttle trick was mind-blowing haha
these videos are sooo good and still relevant for new players!!
Very good tip on camera hot key. Been playing for years and didn't know!

I feel like this should've been episode one because I don't understand your previous videos because I don't know the controls of the game lol.

Thanks
Why did you stop making videos? Please continue - I still suck at the game ^^
Grab you goggles, put your lab coat on
Here he comes, Professor Protoss.
nice
17:00 I press control and right click my mouse at the same time, but my terran Dropship still goes for the suicide mission. Why isn't it working?
Egalitarian Ethos hey you have to patrol click not control click. Patrol hotkey is P and then you left click where you want it to patrol to. Once shot at it will fly away
GoodguyCwyzz what this guy said
Got it, thanks.
22:45 Macro your mouse's extra buttons to Alt and Ctrl.
?how do i move/evacuate a bunch of workers in a straight line
Bentzy R Select the workers click on a mineral patch away from them. The best way is to use a camera hotkey near minerals by using shift + f2 or f3 or f4

You can build more canon the trick when it is a pvp is max minerals and canon. Your enemy will also run out of minerals for the reever
Don’t let him get to that point. Hit early.
If same team, focus on ground defenses. Build Templar only if you can micro effectively.
Is the SHIFT second command a new feature of remastered?
Lol I did not know about shif command and I played on and of since y2k. I know I'm a donkey...
1k subs
i wanna pizza
With a 16 oz coke
Lol you're not going to get away with playing at a high level only keeping your army on control groups 1 2 and 3. You're going to need to use more
Really hard to watch I was falling asleep waiting 5 min between tips 😅
