The Allen Classic I and II were so advanced for their time. Really like no digital organ I heard. I only played the Classic I. The sound was wonderful.
Just about any organ will sound amazing in really good acoustics. Even the best pipe organ will sound bland with all the padded pews, carpet, and ceiling tiles in just about every church these days.
You know when I play an Allen, I hear speakers. When I play a Rodgers, I hear pipes. Rodgers has outstanding sound and quality. Allen has decent sound quality, but not as good as Rodgers.
Yes, Rodgers, the American home of particleboard consoles and now owned by the absolutely AWFUL Johannus Orgelbau....Rodgers was a worthy competitor back in the analogue days, but they have morphed into a company that competes on price alone, and the only way you can win a pricing battle is to build CHEAP, and that’s what they do. I also find it interesting that Rodgers doesn’t offer much anymore in the way of customization, beyond offering moving drawknobs and premium manuals. Allen will build anything a customer wants from the ground up. Even if you start with a standard model, you can make as many changes as you want along the way. Allen is the most expensive digital organ for a reason...they’re worth it.
I deleted my two previous responses because my opinion of Rodgers has changed DRAMATICALLY,...did I dislike Rodgers in the past? No,...it's just that after having a chance to play a Rodgers,...the sound quality IS DEFINITELY superior to that of Allen! I was given a Rodgers organ seven months ago,...an older analog model from the late '80's. Even with analog technology,Rodgers STILL has outstanding sound quality,and I feel I'm hearing pipes,...NOT speakers like you are on this Allen in the video. Sorry Allen,...but my analog Rodgers has FAR better sound than this Historique.
NorfolkSouthern1068 In my opinion it all depends on the organ, my high school has an Allen from 1964 and it has a pretty good sound to it for being that old. At the church I serve at, I play on an Allen Renaissance, and that sounds like it has pipes
