Idk what it was i loved more in this video baneslayer demanding respect, the long grindy games of attrition, or just seeing the finally go out for x=10 and seeing someone scoop but this was just incredibly satisfying. Keep up the U/W greatness.
CGB, I love you. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see UW Control with Baneslayer Angel as someone who started playing standard in 2009/2010. I started playing again with Theros and miss that old school standard meta of fair midrange and control decks. Well, I'm off to build a variant of this, although I may splash red for some more removal and clarion. Edit: Lmao at that game vs reclamation - he had the literal nut draw, perfect card answer for everything! Edit#2: Holy shit that game vs Rakdos sac was insane! well played
Coming from a MTG noob, you're really smart at thinking ahead! I'm motivated to consider my opponent's choices more often. I like watching you predict ECD and Stonecoil.
Give it time any you'll get there. The cards used in decks are very predictable in most Arena ranked games as it's heavy with netdecking. It becomes second nature after enough experience.
Stonecoil is because opp held priority during second main with no available mana and their land drop already made for turn. Little arena tell. But yeah straight up he is hella adept at predicting plays, even against brews

@@Angel24Marin Maybe, but in arena we used lyra as a top-end in control decks for quite some time. baneslayer is pretty much the same card, with some added protection, and i've never faced her in any game since m21 was introduced. if she was a medium during her time, she could have stayed a medium during our time as well. but right now we have so many cards that do so much more for the same cost.
@@geolan31 Lyra was a sideboard card in a weaker format. Burn was a lot better and boardwipes worse. Current control list can survive at low health as long as they keep the board clean but in Dominaria they needed to get life faster. In addition Dream Trawler do the same job as Bane but better against removal.

Esp blue white control, my BABY That have around the 40 minute mark with the 2 absorbs to stay alive AT 1 then toss out The Bain Angel. WOW I'd have liked to have been in their room. LOL! ESP if they're fighting to be in the top pile of players. Just SO AWESOME!!! I reacted more to that win than you did. Haha. LOVE SEEING AN ANGEL DOING WORK and will get absorbs!

Loving this channel. I normally stop playing ranked when I hit platinum. I got dropped back down to silver again today. I've just built this deck. I'm going to have a go at piloting it, with tweaks along the way, until I hit diamond. Felt sorry for my opponents during a couple of the games earlier but I'm sure the feeling will pass once I've climbed out of gold.

I just went six and two with it....did very well against aggro....ran into some problems with a bantish deck....played in bo1 did well....by tomorrow i expect mana problems and shuffler problems as is the case with most decks; but i didn't have those problems today....good deck
That game four reclamation deck must have been scientificaly designed to just beat your deck with perfect draws at the exact perfect moments. I mean two Negates and three disputes in this BO1 Format ist pretty ballsy and musst suck to play against the current meta.
I wouldn't have thought that Absorb would counter a Stonecoil due to it having Protection From Multicolored. I guess that only works after it's on the table.
Is there any reason to run baneslayer over dream trawler aside from the 1-mana difference? I've been trying to make my control finish out the game a bit quicker.
Not really. The only interesting interaction is that having first strike, Banslayer is a good counter to Dream Trawler as it would destroy it in combat. Maybe a sideboard card against control.

Lycra isn't currently in Standard and he's playing standard Bo1 Ranked. Dream Trawler is the next best finisher for UW control, arguably superior to Baneslayer.

Teferi and reclamations. Once those gone and 2 pieces or Jund, Bane and many other creatures are back, probably.

The problem with baneslayer angel is it wins the game on turn 5 but to be good in this standard you need to win on turn 4

I've just built the deck with one dream trawler so that I didn't have to burn a wild card on the third baneslayer.
Watch the video. Baneslayer trades with bonecrusher + cleave, first strike really matters. Think about the cards

espatec fuet - I find blue/white control to be pretty effective. Just run board wipes and Fae of Wishes to get grafdiggers and you’re set 👌🏼

What do you mean rakdos has no way to kill it? priest? first born + cauldron? etc.
Claim can't touch it. It costs too much. Priest and deathtouch butcher are pretty much the only outs.
