I’m still watching all of your older videos. I so enjoy watching and listening to you. I should be cleaning my sewing room, but I’m a bit wore out from shopping this morning. I bought a couple Christmas patterns that I’m going to use together for a pillow case to cover the Kinberbell Bench Pillow. I’m a slow sewer too. Weekends is really my time for sewing, but it’s also time for cleaning, and shopping.
LOVE the cutting table! I have a big old table that my husband raised up to cutting height with pieces of PVC pipe. Works great! I could not exist without my cutting table! lol
Hi Becky, I am so glad you mentioned the 4 x 4 hoop size there at the end of your video. I am having trouble finding embroidery designs that will go in a small hoop. It's frustrating for me making me more grayer than I am...lol
There aren't many of us who do both garment sewing and quilting. I too am a very slow garment sewer. I figure if it's worth sewing it's worth sewing well. After all I want to make things that I will wear. I find a lot of my quilting skills transfer to my garment sewing and I have little tips and tricks up my sleeve that people who never quilt don't think about.
You are absolutely right! I didn't become a quilter until about 8 years ago. I can't believe how the skills for each craft can cross over and help one another. Thanks for watching!
Oh that's a nice cutting table. Awesome job. I'm in the dungeon (basement) where everything else is so I don't have room for anything. I make use of a antique table as a cutting table. I know, I told him I may mark it up and he didn't seem to care. I'm using a twin bed to hold my material. I have pieces in bins. He did hang me a long light out of his shop down there so I could see better. lol One of these days I'm going to lose it and order all kinds of stuff and have it delivered the same day, he would have a heart attack. lol Your tunic looks great, what you have done.
LOL Dorene! You made me laugh with his heart attack. :) Hey, after all the **** we've put up with after all these years, don't you think a little shock and awe is in order? I look at it this way, I'm pushing 60 and pulling 50. I've only got so many days left on this earth and I've busted my behind for all of my adult life since I joined the US Air Force at 19. I DESERVE all of the things I love and by God, I'm not going to let Uncle Sam keep my Social Security a single day longer than I can. The US government is counting on me to die so I'm retiring as early as possible and I'm going to collect MY MONEY on day-freaking-ONE! And then I'm going to spend it on fabric and machines. LOL
@@PowerToolsWithThread I'm working on moving him down in the dungeon. After all there is a twin bed. I'm pushing 70 and pulling 60. YAY! Hi and welcome! I'm all over the map on things I sew/embroider/quilt so if I don't talk about something you're interested in, just wait! I'll hit it sooner or later. :) Please subscribe and I hope to comment with you again!
Becky, Joy had a beautiful quilt she made with chickens. She thought you could still buy it. I am looking for the quilt pattern of chickens by Nancy Barrett. I looked everywhere, Joy said she did too and couldn't not find the pattern. I thought you might be able to find it. Its so cute.
Hi Donna, it's called Chanticleer and Company and I found it here: webstore.quiltropolis.net/stores_app/browse_item_details.asp?store_id=919&page_id=23&Item_ID=2014
Really nice cutting table. The only modification for me would be to put it on casters. My room is very small and I would need to roll it out of the way in order to make room for the sewing table. Thanks for the inspiration.
Would you be willing to share the details on 1.the diameter of the dowel, 2.the method Used to affix the dowel segment to the top plywood and 3. the width of the plywood. I could see having a low rectangular fabric tray for several rulers to be accessed by sliding the tray out (no need for runners). Clever idea with the shelving units doubling as base for the top! Lol on your dog’s timing to get that drink 😂...gotta luv our furry friends. You’re inspiring and a joy to follow❣️👍
Love your cutting table! I am going to have to ask my husband to do one for me when we turn part of our basement for my new sewing room. Great idea. Also your tunic is looking beautiful, can’t wait to see the finished garment. Take care Becky
I love the new table. My brother made me one very similar years ago. I also bought the big cutting mat for it. We made one modification which is great. I was given about a 2'x4' piece of laminated countertop. So we installed it underneath one end of the table with drawer slider hardware system. I can pull it out when I'm working on different projects. I sometimes lay my ironing mat on it so I can press right there. My room is small and I don't have room for a full size ironing board. Works great when I'm hooping fabrics. I like yours with the room underneath to put rulers. It's nice to have someone to custom make our ideas. Thank you
Unfortunately I too know the clock strikes 3:30 twice a day. Love the cutting table. Amazing how some hard work and planning can create such a wonderful work area for so much less than the commercial products. You guys did an awesome job. The pink tunic looks professional. I wish I could get results like that! Your new haircut is so versatile. You look amazing each way you have worn it. One of my mother's great regrets is that she never could get the documentation for her daughters and granddaughters to get into the DAR. Be Blessed!
great cutting table, can't live without one. My husband made me one also. I was the one that asked about the tunic. Was interested in the process of selecting the placket etc. That is my next project and I am a slow sewer as well and agree that quilting comes a little easier for me. The piecing part anyway. Love the piping and placket design and look forward to seeing the finished product. Thanks for sharing.
What is the name of the quilt shown at 6:52 in the video? You said Moda Villa Rosa. I have a villa rosa pattern called galaxy that is similar but not the one shown in your video. Thank you BJ
Great cutting table. I do have a full size cutting mat, but it's on my dining room table, along with my sewing machine. I may have to show this to my husband and see if we can make something like it. I would love to have a full wall of tabletop, cabinets/ storage. You have inspired me to dream big....thank you
Love the style of your videos and getting a little bit of your backstory and personal reasons for doing what you do! My only criticism is the weird sound quality but I'm sure that's to come!
Love your cutting table. I can't wait to see your pressing station! I've been getting my sewing room reorganized into stations (sewing, cutting, pressing, fabric stash, supplies). It is quite the experience. I don't have as large a space as you (mine is a bedroom converted to sewing room), but it's made it more fun to get in there and sew. I do garment and home dec sewing.
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing Joy and Vivmom, they bring me endless joy and you do as well. I am an amateur seamstress so I have the same system. Measure, measure some more, cut, sew, mess it up, seam ripper, repeat!
Driving back from church I make a mental check list: 1. make a coffee-Checked 2. Watch one of my favorite channels: Checked. I see Joy is not here today , I was counting on a sermon summary. Let's hope for afternoon or evening :) I am so glad I "have" you on my life because you push my sewing mojo atop of all other mojos. Friday I sew a top per Joy's indications and I finished it in my superficial way of sewing. Still it came out OK for a walk around the lake. I made it ! One day I will make them in a more professional way so nobody could say " ah, handmade " Thank you Becky! I can't believe you wake up at three AM and leave to go for work. Great video and awesome table! I appreciate the tour; even underneath - it answered the question I had about how it was attached to the shelving below. I just wanted to mention that I always have to turn my speakers way up on the computer when viewing your videos. Not sure if there is an audio button you can use to record the video with a higher volume. Not to be critical, just making an observation.
I made an ironing station out of cube storage and an old ironing board. I am trying to figure out how to send a picture, but I am a little challenged with IT. Reply if you can tell me how....:love your videos.
Becky, I saw a ruler you had under your table 4th one over from left to right. A triangle with like 3 of them on there, I don't know what its called. I ordered one on fb, jan 30. I have not heard anything from the person, I bet its from china, I will never order on there again. I emailed twice have never heard anything. Problem has to come from china. Can you tell me what its called?
Hi Donna, It's by Creative Grids and it's call the 90 Degree Double Strip Ruler. I picked it up on a deep discount when a store was going out of business years ago and haven't used it but a couple of times. lol The only ones I see on Amazon are for 4.5" HSTs and this one is for 2.5" HSTs which I use much more often. Don't worry, your order will come in. I order from FB all the time. I ordered some of those needle threaders I recommended a gazillion videos ago and they just came in TODAY. lol I think they were on a raft from the Phillippines via China. :)

In the video I show the company name on the mat where it came from. I bought it at the Houston Quilt Festival last year. They had a booth. But I bet you can call the 800 number on the mat and they will send you one.
Donna I was wondering thickness too, the dimensions she qualified as being the size of her oversized cutting mat. So go with what works for you is what I got from that which is going to take into account the room you have and what you want given the size(s) and dimension(s) of your mat(s) plus,if you want additional space factored in. I do love her table layout👍
@@mgs783 Just curious, I bought a large mat from Marteli.com and I am using my table, but I think its too big for my table. I was wondering if I should buy one of those craft tables for like $60 at walmart. This might still be too big for it too.
Both sheets of plywood are 59.5" x 36" (the exact size of the mat) and they are 1/2" thick. The gap between the chrome storage racks is 20", just wide enough for the Ikea cart.
