    Stick is always the way for motion input fighting games for me. Even if it’s “suboptimal”, it just feels way more visceral piloting characters on stick.

    No lie, I modded my rockband guitar to use a foot pedal for star power with the drum pedal. I have seriously debated modding my series x controller to do the same.

    I never played on an arcade so I'm not used to levers, and I was a long time console player. But right now I prefer keyboard as my main controller, i feel my inputs are more accurate and faster to press, however 360 and tiger knee inputs are harder to pull.

      @@HeartbrokenHeartshooter that’s far from the truth.

    • @SlaineReigns
      @SlaineReigns ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually it is a fossil lol, sry its just that old. Its not to offend people, its just a fact. Im an arcade boi all my life and played in my local arcade when i was in my teens and was a regular. Roughly for 10+ years or so including my experience with lever. The problem is my wrist started to have problems and leverless fixes that issue. Switching to leverless fixed some directional input errors and tough wrist maneuvers. it also is a lot faster since your wrist dont need to move to neutral and move to the next directional input.
      Lever is an outdated controller, and that's the truth.

    • @MFOSOOO
      @MFOSOOO ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SlaineReigns obviously it’s old, it’s a tradition. I myself have been using a lever for over 24 years. It’s a tradition that will never die, it’s not “outdated” and stickless is not the future, it’s just an option. Like I said I have no hate but I have a distaste for the “levers are no good” culture, in Japan where the heart of fighting games is, lever is still king along with Korea and even Pakistan where legends are growing even more than ever before. It will always be king. Stickless, like the PlayStation controller, XBOX or hori and mad catz fight pads is just another option for people who can’t master the stick or whose hands are not able to use them for long periods or for people who just want to try something new to make the experience alil more easier. FGC is an open and interchangeable community and it always will be.
      So…..remember. LEVER IS KING.

  • @maxpeter4171

    I can imagine Leverless and probably also Pad being slightly more optimal than an arcade stick for most games. I wouldnt be surprised to see less and less joysticks on tournements in the future.
    However, I wouldnt call them fossils and I dont see them dying out, because they feel the best and most immersive. Pad only has tensy tiny buttons and depad. On Leverless you only have buttons its like you are operating a Spaceship but like a bad spaceship because why wouldnt there be a Lever?
    Only with Arcade Stick you get a nice jucy stick where you feel you are moving your charcter, becoming one with your charecter. Motion inputs carty a sort of momentum. And of course you have big buttons for big attacks not tiny buttons you press with your thumb Like on pad.
    I think many people like me dont care about the optimal controler. Playing SF6 only 2 hours per day and not maining any of the Top 10 chars is already suboptimal why should people like me care to ever switch to leverless?

  • @andreaschrader3952
    @andreaschrader3952 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Justin's point about getting long-term strain issues from using leverless is kinda bad faith? Literally any repeated motions of any kind if done constantly enough will result in injury and degredation. I started playing leverless specifically because of RSI caused by stick in my left wrist. I think the key is taking care of your body and listening to the signals that you should take a break, not "this controller will result in better health".

    • @theelusivememe1772
      @theelusivememe1772 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea it prolly depends on how long you play, after like 2 to 3 hours of a fighting game my hands are kinda tired whether I use pad or levelers. Taking breaks is important. Now if you playing like 8 hours a day everyday, you prolly get issues regardless what you use.

  • @razpenguin

    Leverless controllers are a neat novelty but stick is simply how fighting games are meant to be played. You're really missing out on the experience without a stick.

    This whole hitbox/1000 buttons controller/footpedal crap fever is what is ruining the game to people that have been playing the game with 6 buttons and 8way joystick since the early 90's. You gotta have all of these crap controllers because even if you are a good player you are still disadvantaged from people that use these stuff.
