Hey, I'm Auce, the bretonnian player from this game. Was a great game that had some very Warhammer moments. In regards to the decision to get stuck into the longbeards, I felt like I didn't have much to lose there. I'd be able to either get my first knight into a challenge with the king to soak up the wounds, or at worst have the first knight in a challenge with the longbeards champion and at worst have him likely survive while the king munched on the other pegasus knights. Even with the armour buff I thought I had a good chance of whittling the longbeards down to below 25 percent after which I was content to FBIGO and head back to the castle after a few rounds of combat. With the lower than expected performance in the first turn of combat and my low flee roll that ended up with your dwarfs catching my pegasus knights I wasnt feeling great about that fight.
Hey! Yes, was a great game. You’re right, the longbeards catching the peg knights on the FBIGO was pretty unlikely, otherwise you would have been pretty safe. Makes sense to me. Thanks for watching!
AWSOME battle report. I almost felt a tear in my eye when the cart got destroyed! Great game. And thanks for putting the lists up as well. I learned from this battle , so thank you 🙏. Keep up the good fight !
Thank you, sir! Let me know if you ever want to learn how to play. We can play online, essentially for free, using warhall. I already have all the rulebooks we’d need to get you started.
Regarding the Rune of Adament on the Anvil, the whole model benefits from the toughness 10. Check out page 197 of the rule book for spit profile (war machines) This model is treated as a single model and, unless noted otherwise, any special rules that apply to one element (war machine or crew) apply to the other as well. Just so you have some ammon if a TO rules against you again haha.
To my understanding, most folks play the T10 applying to both profiles, just not how it was ruled at this event. I could have made a stronger case, rather than just asking, so that’s on me.
My opponent explains his thought process on the charge in the pinned comment. Makes sense to me. The peg knights were unlikely to take out the anvil, as it has toughness 10 (in melee) from rune of adamant. After the charge, most of their attacks can’t wound the anvil at all (too tough to wound). Also, going after it would have exposed the pegs to more shooting and possibly held them in place long enough for my harder hitting units to get into them.
I was checking out this list the other day and playing with it, I thought 2 runes of fortitude and a rune preservation would be mint on the anvil, still toughness 9 for shooting and immune to multiple wounds, crew is like t 7 immune to killing blow. I get the the t 10 build though for sure
Bret's 1st turn, could the cannons draw line of sight to the longbeards? As there seems to be a woods terrain piece blocking line of sight...or does the bombard have indirect fire?
Pretty sure it’s a legal shot. He has line of sight to the far edge of the intervening woods, then add 1 artillery dice to determine where it lands, then 1 more artillery dice to determine bounce distance. Not a huge fan of the canon rules in Old World, but this was fair play based on our interpretation of the rules. Definitely a bummer though. 🤣
Good catch. Something I need to look out for. In retrospect, the wound I thought he took from pillar may have been the unstable damage. Can’t remember completely though.

So close, yet so far... Thank for watching! More to come.
Keep the Old World content coming
More on the way. Thanks for watching!
Damn good try!
Way to keep your head in the game after such a Start.
Also, I was more lost than that forest chariot.
All praise the algorithm.

I play that it affects the entire model at the tournies I run as well.
That charge was an extension of his hand lol... Pegs not going for the anvil makes no sense

I’ve been looking at that rune combo too. Seems solid.
My list is locked for this event, but I’m going to revisit it after the event is over.

Yeah i dont understand how the Grudgethrower could be hit

@ All good, I was not there just working on how it looked to me. Thanks for the reply
No worries. Thanks for watching!
How much did you combat by in the initial Pegasus knight charge? Green knight probably should've died after that combat as he is unstable.
Good catch. Something I need to look out for. In retrospect, the wound I thought he took from pillar may have been the unstable damage.
Can’t remember completely though.
Just one, that's where his first wound came from.
That terrain placement is a cancer 😬
It certainly didn’t do me any favors 🤣
OMG you have the most terrible luck!
I had some good rolls too, but they weren’t quite as explicit as some of the fails 🤣
